So there's this fungus that takes controls of the ants brain and moves it to a certain location that the fungus wants it to be, then kills the ant once its reached it destination.

My guess is that it wont be long until some idiots will harvest this fungus and try it on other animals or people.

So whatcha think Escapist? Is this the beginning of the Zombie Apocalypse?

I recon that they will research the fungus and see if it could affect other animals. And even if it can I highly doubt they could make powerful enough to control a human. Also if they could The fungus powerful enough I recon it wouldn't be able to balance the human body because its much more advanced than than an ants, so it would probably just fall over and not be able to get back up.

I thought it made them climb to the top of blades of grass every night so that cows would eat them?

This almost literally refers to a monster in Pathfinder RPG. Yellow Musk Creeper. It's a sentient plant that shoots spores which entrance a person so that the plant can bore tendrils into their brain. Then they become Creeper Zombies, and do the exact same thing, they walk around so that the plant can reproduce over a larger area.

Nope.
BTW read the comments on the article, they are fugging hilarious.
I'm tempted to, but won't after seeing it's from Yahoo. I can only take the comments from one of those articles a month, before my brain starts to melt.
I don't think this "zombie" insect thing is really new. I remember hearing about it earlier.

Heard of all of these, and I'd rather have Day of the Triffids happen instead of this on a human-scale.
