This reminds me of that spelling game where you killed zombies.

Anyhow. As Cpt says, SLOW zombies.
And an open environment where you can form strageties.
And a hell of a lot of zombies.

So like a city full of dead rising, with good gameplay.

Well, I'm not sure exactly what could be added anymore...All the series have there own things I like...Left4Dead has the co-op...Resident Evil has the feel and classic nature...

But there is thing with zombie games I would love to see...A GOOD (Emphasis on that) remake of Zombies Ate My Neighbors...That game was a classic and unless they do it well, don't even try...But I want that sweet co-op action back with the brutal difficulty...I never beat that game (not even half-way (blame my brother who never wanted to play))...But it remains a fixed memory of my childhood...

The setting could be done so well now a days...and the fun musical tracks can be made into something epic (while keeping the same idea)...A new Chainsaw Hedgemaze Mayhem anyone?

You stole my post. :(
Sorry.

Interesting weapons or powers.
The ability to hole up somewhere and fortify it over time.

Like if you find a board, you'd be able to choose if you cover the windows with it, or if you use it to build a bridge over your moat...

Things like that.
I think they should've put that in Left 4 Dead's Survival Mode. I could hold anything single handed then.

Mine too. Put those kinds of zombies in a sandbox city and I'd sure as hell buy it.

1. Take Assassin's Creed, or any of those sandbox games - they are pretty much the same nowadays.

2. Add a whole continent, instead of one or a couple cities.

3. Put in a dash of wastelands a la Fallout, and make sure that the zombies act like primitive humans(use weapons, drive, ability to run but no strategy).

4. Give us a car, a ridiculous amount of interesting guns, and the ability to go anywhere.

5. Add some sort of home base or many places to fortify, and make it.

6. Garnish with some challenge, but not enough to get frustrating.

7. Decorate with Co-Op, and perhaps multiplayer if done creatively enough.

8. Bake at 350 degrees and enjoy.

More zombies and the possibility to become a zombie yourself instead of getting a "game over" when you die (Metal Slug had it).

Oh boy.
Well, a living breathing MMO zombie world has been thought about in my head for a long while, it would be based on the dynamics of the environment and survivors as well as the zombies and military and not some stupid questing bullshit. Here are some points from an old notepad file.

Fast Paced PVP Modes Involving:
-Enclosed Urban Environments like Malls, Hospitals, Blockaded high streets, Blockaded Suburban living areas
-Picking a quick class or set of ability's for both humans and zombies using a points and skill tree system
-Minor territorial NPC spawn system like zombies area hordeing in MMO mode
-100v100-200v200

Large Country/Continent
-Far north = Mountain towns
-Mid Country/Continent is biggest city
-Low right country is dangerous but has good stuff in it and strong military presence
-Coast lines are quieter locations

COD 4 Style Health. Or health bar that slowly refills but medpacks/flesh (zombies)/food help OR a certain amount of health will slowly refill but after a certain point of damage will absolutely require assistance
Hunger bar. Need to refill or health bar starts going down with food.
1st person or Over the shoulder view
Vehicles

Player Zombies are lower healthed but have heavily high skills including:
-Speed (Depends on your tastes, guys!)
-Leaping
-Seeing humans on a radar
-Seeing faint human lines through walls... mostly if there making sounds
-Tar hands
-Tentacles
-Carry spare flesh
-Acid spray
-Pounce
-Wall Jump etc
-Area infesting. Similar to base declaring. When player zombies have great control over the area the number of NPC zombies will increase as well. Happens mostly in urban environments.
-Hide in dumpsters, bins etc

Human skills include:
Medic
Running faster
Increasing strength
Increased inventory
Bartering
Base declaring
Distracting
Engineering/repairing

Inventory.
Weight:Speed.
More layers of clothes will give better damage resistance but make you slower/required for certain weathered environments

Zombies can regain health/speed up ability gaining by eating flesh
Zombies can carry flesh for other zombies/attract NPC zombies (who could be the slow ones) by throwing a certain amount of flesh down.

Humans have clans
-Bartering
-Working together
-Jobs
-Clan Made Forts
-Clan made logos/graffiti to mark forts
-Clan have these symbols on the back of there clothes etc

Zombies have hordes

Day = 2 hours
Dusk = 1 hour
Night = 2 hour
Dawn = 1 hour
Zombies deadlier/gain stat boost during night.

Based around what you do, you become more efficient at it.
So if you heal yourself and others you'll lean towards medical skills over time.

Safe zones for logging off

Awesome finishers. Especially for zombies.

Just some basic stuff, not very fleshed out (Ignore the unintentional pun)

one that is nothing to do with a virus, desiese or infection. I'm waiting for the stuff rising out of the ground, with limbs flying off and absurdly powerful shotguns.

Story, the only good zombie movies I've seen concentrated heavily on the characters and the interactions between them. In other words drama, but with out the genetic super mutants or what ever from Resident Evil.

Zombies = Slow, shuffling movement. Eat humans. Basic intelligence. Can only be killed by headshots or severing the head (which doesnt actually kill them, it makes them a head that can still bite you)

Going by that logic, theyre hasnt been a really good zombie game since Res 3 (Dead Rising is ok at best, could of been way better) and theyre hasnt been a zombie movie since George A. Romero stopped making movies (Land of the Dead is not a fucking zombie movie).

Im sick of all these "zombie" movies that dont have a single zombie in them. Has anyone ever seen a single zombie in 28 Days/Weeks Later or Left 4 Dead? I dont fucking think so. Or even in the Dawn of the Dead remake? Whats with the dead things having an Agility higher than 1?

At least Max Brooks knows what the fuck a zombie is.

Zombies that fall over now and again. Not for any purpose, just because I think zombies should be more clumsy.
It'd make me laugh anyway.

The ability to go anywhere and fortify almost every building. Time of day to change where the humans will be less effective at night because they are tired. So players will dread night time as in real life. Loads of weapons including melee. The ability to completely customize your character (like saints row) Let the humans drive vehicles and meet other NPC survivors and help them out for rewards (or kill them and take all their supplies) An experience system (your skills increase as you do them) eg: your fortify skill gets higher when you fortify windows and doors and the skill makes them stronger or last longer.
