Just gonna make this quick...

Introduction.
Based on both the popular first person shooter Counter Strike, and the hit UT2004 mod Killing Floor, ZombieMod Source is a fan made mod for Half Life 2 Deathmatch that both succeeds and fails in many many ways.

Graphics vs Framerate.
Especially for a mod, the environment and weapon graphics are fantastic. However, it is a little disappointing that they re use the Headcrab zombies and Barney models for the zombies, which detracts from the realism and graphical splendor, since they are what you are looking at 80% of the time. I play on a really shitty comp, yet a pretty meaty graphics card, and I got about 40 FPS when things got heavy. Quite playable. When simply walking around waiting for the next wave, or buying weapons, the average frame rate is about 70. Very nice considering it looks amazing and plays well on Max settings. With FRAPS recording however, things got really stuttery, real fast. Do NOT record using FRAPS on this game, the best I got was 14 FPS, which when you combine with typical online lag, means that it is far from playable.

Highs
-Excellent environments
-High detail weapons and survivor character models
-Good framerate, even during the heavy stuff

Lows
-Low quality zombie models
-Framerate chugs massively when recording comes into play

Overall 8\10

Gameplay.
Not really much to discuss here. You have gun. You see zombies. You point gun at zombies. They die. Rinse and repeat.

Highs
-Can get very exciting at times
-Gets everything right to a point
-All of the weapons feel balanced and fit perfectly into the game, with the exception of the "Scoped Rifle"
-No dick moves to increase difficulty, yet has a natural challenge
-Nothing more badass then wiping out an entire horde with only a DE

Lows
-Can get repetitive
-"Scoped Rifle" is the second most expensive weapon in the game, and the most useless
-Headshots seemed to do no more damage then body shots
-Basic pistol is pathetically ineffective, even for a starting weapon
-Far too easy to accidentally kill yourself when you try to figure out the "Grenade Launchers" on certain weapons

Overall 7\10

Sound.
Sometimes, immersion is just as heavily based on sound as video, and ZombieMod is no exception. I'm not going to even bother making a huge paragraph on sounds, so just check the Highs and Lows.

Highs
-Weapons sound great
-Grenade explosions and flame burning are just as wonderful as the weapon sounds

Lows
-I'm going to be polite and say "Borrowed" zombie sounds from both Left 4 Dead and Half Life 2
-Why an M4A1 Assault Rifle sounds like an alien laser when it gets done reloading is beyond me

Overall 8\10

Final thoughts.
Far from blockbuster, but if you can over look it's faults, fun times can be had here
