What makes zombies so appealing? I've become obsessed with the thought of zombies, whether it be mutations, radiation, magic, living dead, or etc.
what is it that captures the imagination to zombies?

Its because deep down all us nerds want to go GTA style on the world, and zombies provide that medium. In GTA you shoot 50 people and the army comes after you, in zombie games you kill 50 people and you get a medal.

It's the fear. People automatically see death as scary, subconsciously speaking, so the fact that these are things that have already died but are still up and moving, the "walking dead", is frightening in a way no other thing can be.

It probably stems from the human fear of dying. If there are zombies, vampires, ghosts, mummies, etc., we can rest a little easier thinking there is earthly life after death.

It's basically the fear of a bent morality.
going against all of the comforts and morals that keep one safe,
and having to fight and kill other humans, and potentially your own family.
Also being able to use the immediate resources the cities provide and barricading yourself from the masses. It's where smarts, fitness, common sense, and a look out for yourself attitude will keep you alive.

I don't know. I just like the dead guys. Seem very sensible and not at all unstable.

Nope, they're inter-dimensional aliens. The zombine on the other hand...

I think people fear zombies because they represent us as basic humans (mobs beating and eating everything by brute force) and we would have to fight ourselves as gross monsters that like to eat us.
