For some reason today, starting around 8-9 pm (EST), I've been having trouble accessing this website. When I'd open up firefox and try to head here, it would redirect me to a Zoomtown search engine saying " 'www.escapistmagazine.com' is incorrect or unavailable" I know now that it can't be the site, since I'm here now. Does anyone know what's going on?

I had trouble earlier too. I just assumed it was a group of people attacking the site after the whole thing with Extra Credits.

I would say its because the servers (or whatevers) were backed up with too many concerned Extra Credit fans and/or dissidents clogging the site; like most Wednesdays. Too much traffic slows the site down.
But I have absolutely no idea. =)

In all likelihood it was more akin to a traffic jam than a DDoS.

Glad to know I wasn't the only one having this problem. If it keeps happening over the next couple days I'll know something's up.

Well two things, one the Escapist was having traffic issues because of the Extra Credits debacle. The second... you're not using a very good browser(or ISP). What you should have gotten was a 100 error of some kind, most likely 103:connection reset.

Nothing is wrong with firefox. I don't like it but plenty of people do.

It's no a bad browser at all. As far as I'm aware the only bad browser is IE.

I never heard of Zoomtown before! :O

Sometimes I find the Escapist won't load but the other sites I frequent do. I figure it has something to do with site traffic.
