Does anybody remember playing this baby many many years ago?

I recently bought it and I am having the same problem as I did back then - I have no effing idea what to do or how to do it. The controls are simple but it is a matter of putting words into actions and figuring out how exactly.

I couldn't complete it then and I cannot complete it now. I refuse to look at a walkthrough for stubborn reasons.

Has anybody completed this game without a book? It would be interesting to see if anybody still plays this game actually considering it is now on GOG quite cheap. You need a lot of patience.

Trial and error, I suppose. Don't fumble around in the dark or you get eaten, and the thief is unkillable I believe...other than that, it is one of those games you simply have to throw every idea you have at and see what works.

And that's why it's so awesome.

It was made before I was born... no I don't remember playing it way back when. I remember playing it more recently. Also, its available [a href="http://thcnet.net/error/index.php"]for free[/a].

I have managed to get into the basement where the warrior is but he just slashes me down in one swoop.
This is the kind of game my parent's approved of and held onto for me and my brothers - it required reading lol.

I have recently found Zork: The Grand Inquisitor on GOG too. I love the quirky death text screen - very original. You don't see many Full Motion games anymore.

I play Eve. My corp is called "Order of the Grue." :) There's a LOT of darkness in space. ;)

I tried to set a LP up of Enchanter but the thread died from the start. Pity, would have been fun. The only real dickhead thing in the first Zork is the REDACTED, other than that it's just a simple case of loot stuff, solve the odd puzzle and Parser Combat.

Didn't Infocom release it as a free download before they went under?

Edit - looked up, yes they did. Zork 1-3 are freeware games.

If I remember right your ability to fight him goes up with your score. Also killing him before he does A CERTAIN THING will make the game unwinnable.
