Hey, I was just thinking about entering this game contest the other day when I realized I can't make games at all. What I am good at, however, is coming up with a pretty clever story. This being said, I developed what I think to be a good storyline for a ZP based game and I wanted to just throw it out there to see what others thought and see if anyone wanted to use it for a game. Like I said, I can't make a game on my own, but I would love to see my story be used in the hands of someone with greater talent. Here it is:

The story starts with a brief prologue describing how game developers are not making games due to the fact that reviewers are giving terrible reviews to everything that comes out and this causes consumers not to purchase them. It is during this game depression that all of the great game developers are invited to this meeting by a mysterious host. They arrive at the strange place when they are confronted by a man who gives them a proposition that just might save their careers: to kill all the game reviewers in the world. This would allow them to release mediocre games without the fear of being negatively reviewed. They agree to the plan and the strange host says that there will be a great reward for whoever kills the most critics. Meanwhile, we meet the three main characters: Yahtzee (escapist, zero punctuation), Stuttering Craig (screw attack, the armory), and the Angry Video Game Nerd (screw attack, AVGN). They are each reviewing games when they are suddenly attacked by video game characters. They fight their way through the mass of pixilated killers, but just as they are overwhelmed, as rescued by a mysterious man in a cloak. They are then brought together and the savior explains how all reviewers are being hunted and killed. He then explains how this will ruin the gaming industry and that without negative reviewers, developers wouldnt have to make good games. This being said, he explains how the three of them must come together and fight their way through the hordes of video games greatest characters and ultimately destroy the man behind it all. They agree to this and thus begins their journey. As a side note, I thought that Yahtzee would fight with his imps and his gun that shoots shurikens and lightning. Stuttering Craig would use weapons from the Armory which includes red turtle shells, the mega buster, the screw attack, and the master sword. The Angry Video Game Nerd uses the power glove, the super scope, and other peripherals to fight.
Basically they fight their way through characters (each level containing lower monsters like goombas and other minor enemies in classic games), and then killing bosses such as Mario, Mega man, Sonic, Snake, Master Chief, Sack Boy, the Prince of Persia, Peter Molyneux, the Guitar Hero (work with it), Link, and many others. When they finally reach the final boss, the man who hosted the meeting in the beginning, they discover that its the same man thats been guiding them the whole time, the man in the cloak. If this werent enough, the man ends up revealing his identity to be none other than G-Man from the Half- Life series, who explains he wanted to keep them alive because Yahtzee gave the Orange Box a positive review, Stuttering Craig added the Portal gun to the Armory, and AVGN is just so dang funny. He also knew he needed to eliminate the other critics in time for Half Life 2 episode 3 to come out. Needless to say, the trio is still outraged at the evil G-Man has committed and fight him in the final boss battle. They defeat him and end the attack on the reviewers.

Well let me know what you all think about it, I'm open to changes are whatever, and someone let me know if you want to use this. Thanks.

While that could be very interesting, i feel like the experience may get repetitive.

Great idea....think I'll steal it

I joke, I joke. But one must question the wisdom of posting a potential winning idea for the world to see, and the seedier bunch of us to steal it.

To be honest, i would want nothing more than to see my idea used by anyone. As long as they did it justice and made it a worthy title with solid gameplay that is.

Don't count on that. Since I've heard of no reward besides Yahtzee ripping us a new one, I'm not interested at all in slaving over a computer to make a game for him.

Agreed; at least you know that someone likes your idea. Though, if said idea gets huge, even money-making, I'd want credit (and money) where it was due.

Since I have no experience beyond GameMaker 6, I'd be useless. Perhaps I'll submit my Dodge The Shit (Pacman is Evil) game I threw together in an hour just for laughs.

Naturally I would claim some right to reward. Maybe I could claim myself the Creative Producer, or something like that. And Dodge the Shit sounds really fun, I'd play it if it weren't something so closely related to how my brother died.

One thing I also want to ask: are their any other big name reviewers I could use that I'm leaving out. I like the ideas for Stuttering Craig, and AVGN, but should i replace them with mroe recognizable critics?

That's true, but technically speaking he is still a game reviewer which still classifies him as a target. The fact that he is saved by G-Man is just because he likes his reviews (and I like AVGN so I wanted to integrate him into the story).

Ideally, i would find that person that says: hey, I'm a talented video game developer, but I can't think of any ideas for a game.

My idea is a top-view third-person game where youc control a fedora wielding a weapon as it goes through 100 levels based on each game he's reviewed.

My idea was that Final Fantasy XIII comes out and reviewers/the public praise it as the best game ever made, which promptly causes Yahtzee to go on a murderous rampage.

Bear in mind I came with that in 5 minutes.

Damn this human curiousity! Might I ask what happened?

Why not Armake21/NicotineAlien instead of AVGN? He reviewed more recent games even though YouTube took his account down...

That's a likeable reward. Anything he comments on as being good will mean a lot, being one of the most anal retentive critics around.
