Zune

I have a Zune, and I love it. What I Don"t understand is why everyone seems to have an inherent hatred for it. I also love the Zune software, I think its better then iTunes, just as I like prefer Zunes to Ipods.

All I'm asking is why people look down on people who have Zunes.

Don't really care about which one's better. I love my iPod, but I don't look down on anyone who has a Zune.

I wasn't aware people hated Zunes. Mine is sitting right next to me on the counter. 80 GB, mmmm. Feels so good.

Personally, I like how the Zune supports a wider range of formats, so I don't have to convert everything I download. I wish it had a microphone and text file support, but last I checked iPod didn't have those either, so whatever.

Though iPod has those cool silhouettes, you must admit.

Because they prefer to use ipods? It's also become a bit of a meme to say that zunes suck as well, personally I'm inclined to agree. But then I've never used either and ipod or a zune.

ipods came first, zune is just an ipod that microsoft made to copy apple and since it was later, they could make it slightly better, but i have an iphone so i dont care

I've got nothing against the Zune itself, I just don't like the name. I don't know why, I just don't. I'm not to keen on the name Ipod, but I like it better then Zune.

I love my Zune. The only people who hate them are iPod fanboys and there seems to be a lot of them. Look at it objectively and you'll see why Zune is superior:
Format flexibilty: Supports lossless WMA, Mp3, WAV and pretty much anything else you throw at it.

Wifi - sync wirelessly, send songs to friends wirelessly, download new songs wirelessly, multiplayer games.

Build quality - Zune's are generally very well built. The glass that protects the screen is very thick and scratch resistant. Also, I've not got dust under my screen and I've had my Zune for over a year.

Zune pass - download as many tracks as you like for a fixed fee a month and keep 10 of them forever. 'Nuff said.

Audio quality - obviously subjective but I've not found an Mp3 player that sounds better than Zune and I've been buying them since 1999. It sucks that there's no customisable EQ but apart from that its solid. The earphones you get with Zune are great at blocking out external sound too. In fact, they're better than some Shure earphones I bought recently for £40...

I use a cheaper MP4 player that works just as well. 8 GB for barely $70.

I don't think there are any Zune stores in Poland anyway.

I bought a Ipod cuz the name brand, I paid 666 dollars (Im totally not kidding and its totally lived up to its price) people look at it and go "OH WOW A iPod" if I whiped out a Zune people would assume I just got it cuz it was a want to be iPod, I like it and hate it.... My mom has a zune and loves it... I don't care I like my iPod

I think that anyone who "hates" the iPod/Zune and loves the Zune/iPod is a fanboy, and as such doesn't deserve attention. If you are speaking of a calm, objective comparison, there are plusses and minuses to both, and the choice ends in the subjective area.
I am sure that the Zune is not really better than the iPod at least for one reason: I don't know a single Zune owner, and I know many iPod owners. While you can blame this on trends and such, at least for the tech-savvy people that doesn't hold. If it was superior, someone would have bought it.

Do you perceive the irony here?

Edit: oh yeah Zune Pass. I thought it was a joke when they announced it.

I considered switching over when my iPod broke, but I'd already gotten quite comfortable with iTunes and had legally purchased quite a few songs from them, so I decided I might as well stick with for the time being.

Creative Zen is way better then both Zune and iPod. It's true. It also allowes more freedom then any Apple or Microsoft product ever will. You really should try it.

I recently owned an iPod. When I got sick of it I got a Zen just to try it. I'm never switching to iPod or Zune again.

Truthully I don't like Ipods or Zunes - if you want to listen to music, best to get something like a cheap old flash drive mp3 player (you know, the ones that can literally go through the washing machine 5 times and still function normally) or a phone that takes SD cards. End of the day, youre usually paying for a brand and a few flashy graphics more than anything else, plus the fail rate and hardware/software lockin of the big mp3 players is insane (although I hear its is better now)

If I HAD to get an mp3 player, it would probably be one of the ZEN series, at least then I'd be free of the stigma attached to both the Zune and the Ipod

oh, and my ex's lil bro had a creative zen and that thing sucked, just sayin', his parents only go him it because it began with a z and they didnt want him to feel left out when they baught their daughters zunes, which they all loved

Heh, I know I sound like a fan boy but I'm not really. As I said I've been using Mp3 players since 1999 and Zune has been the best overall experience I've had. Don't get me wrong, it isn't PERFECT. I hate the lack of DivX support which means I have to convert all my videos to a zune-friendly format. Also, the main software can be quite buggy sometimes and requires a lot of system resources to run (my old PC could barely run it at all and took over 3 minutes to load it up).
As for Zune pass, its a great service as long as you realise you're merely 'renting' the music you listen to. Its a great way to discover new music. For example, the Zune software will find people with the same tracks in your collection and download tracks from theirs that you don't have. On top of that, you have can subscribe to genre channels (which are updated weekly) and hear brand new tracks from your favourite genre. Or, you can use it to check out genres you're unfamiliar with. I subscribed to the hip-hop channel and discovered a great band called CunninLynguists.
