I think most would say "when two idiots throw their money down the toilet to fight each other we all win."

I'm throwing my hat in the 'Zynga is right' ring. However, Mr. Goldin got in a wicked burn on Zynga there.

... I was ready to scoff at this...

I mean, they copied cityville?

You mean that clone the sim-city series that has existed for decades?

But then I saw the picture... Yeah, OK Zinga. For once you have a point. Your 'blatant' copying of other people's ideas is very, very obvious, but does seem highly original compared to what Vostu appears to be doing.

Still. Don't think that makes me any less wary of your dubious clone games and weird business strategies...

Damm, and to think I almost get an interview at Vostu. Suddenly I feel good about not getting it.

But yeah, most of the south american game companies are jumping on the Facebook bandwagon instead of trying original works, and yes, most of them have Farmville copycats. It's why I hate job hunting here, even if you get one, you can never feel proud of your work.

I disagree. Whoever loses, we win

OT: I agree. A monkey could settle this case.
True. Not only will they burn piles of money keeping this bullshit going, but when Zynga inevitably wins, they will be opening themselves up to similar lawsuits from all the people they've ripped off and otherwise screwed over along the way.

'...inspired by Scamga...' I never thought I would see those words without some form of preceeding negative or sarcasm. It's good to see Votsu standing up to them, unfortunately Scamga will probably hire a city full of lawyers to defend them if push comes to shove.

Zynga will get theirs, eventually. I'm a firm believer in karma (look at Tim Langdell), and it looks like Zynga will get theirs very, very soon.

While I see where Vostu is coming from and I even generally agree with them it does sound like their games are too close to Zynga's to merely claim inspiration.

Totally different games. On the attached graphic, you can clearly see that its a brunette holding an ace of hearts instead of zynegas redhead holding an ace of hearts. Oh, and the E in Cafe is capitalized.

Can't copyright an Idea, but you can copyright the Coding. Isn't that how Facebook started? (I know, I learned that from that fucking movie "Social Network", but that was still a well made movie so I shall continue with my words).

Also I feared being sued for some of my works, but so long as my wording was off BY ONE LETTER I was safe. Which as far as I am concerned these guys are safe to and this Lawsuit will fall under np. Zynga is a bunch of blowhards anyways.

Interesting... I wonder how a company actually upholds a patent internationally.... I mean, would Brazil side with Zynga? If that company is successful, the Brazilian government will reap larger tax revenues from them. And that company could possibly produce more jobs and increase the total overall wealth of the nation.

Oxymoron of the decade right there.
Almost, but to qualify as an oxymoron it has to be two words. In the Illegal streaming thread somebody said "Republican Thinking", which I think isn't so much an oxymoron as much as a big old Fuck the not mega rich.
It doesn't actually have to be two words to be an oxymoron, it can be a whole statement like that. I hear what you are saying about the super right wing conservative crowd though. Most are like that.

If there was a way to transmit a high-five through the monitor, then I would have done it. twice.
I just hifived my monitor. you high five yours on the image below and the work is done.

That aside. Zynga can go fuck themselves with a loaded gun. The specifically got rich ripping off other peoples work before they even started tweaking the theme of said cheap crappy rip off.

EDIT: I know exactly what I want to see happen from this. I want zynga to win! Because it will set a legal precedent that the people zynga ripped off can use to sue them! The amount this will come back to bite them in the ass is hilarious. Whoever wins, Zynga loooooses.

I have to laugh at the lawyer for Zynga pointing out a bug in Zynga's game that's been there since December of 2010 that they never fixed. Way to go Zynga, even your legal team knows your games are bugged and haven't been patched in forever.
It's hard to fix bugs when you fire your dev team after their work is done.

I can see Vostu losing but only from a design stand-point, the logos and names of the games in question are too similar.

But Zynga need to realise that they can't possibly own a Genre.

Especially since they didn't come up with poker*, the farming/city simulator, or really any of their 'original creative products'

[sub](*Honestly, how do you even attempt to sue someone for having a similar poker game to you?)[/sub]

It's a shame no-one managed to do this to Zynga. But saying they broke the law first is no defence
