It's not technically canceled. They released all the actors and are instead taking one of his other books and adapting it to a series that would take place in the same world "super crooks". They say they are going in a new direction with Millarworld adaptations and will come back to Jupiters Legacy at a later date. This is especially frustrating for me because the first season was only a prequel and increased the scope of the story in ways that dragged pretty bad. Mark Millar deserves all the accolades for his amazing work on both his own series and as arguably the creator behind MCU, but I have little faith in his adaptations. For my taste Kick-ass was the only one that was fairly close to the comics.

I'm not shocked. None of the reviews I saw thought it was particularly great, but it does suck for the people who did enjoy it.

Netflix is fucking weird about what they keep and don't. Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance got one season before being canceled(I'm not salty about it or anything) but they've greenlit like 15 video game series and that's not including the Dragons Dogma one that came out a couple months ago(If you missed it......well, apparently you didn't actually miss anything).

The main problem with Netflix is that they can never stick with any show at a time half the time. Either that, or to keep at jumping trends like Mexicans jumping beans.

*correction it's definitely canceled. The actors have already started tweeting out responses and lamentations, so the statement that they would revisit it later was just publicity.* You got me again Millar, I should have expected as much. At least we got Invincible which seems to be pretty well take care of and on track *fingers crossed*.

Yeah but contrast with Invincible, which got renewed for a second AND third season almost on the spot.
Nobody has confirmed if it was cancelled due to financials or if there other factors, but the general consensus has been that Jupiter's Legacy didn't do anything that set itself apart that frankly it was just boring. It suffers from the same issues that bogged down game of thrones where the writers seemed to have forgotten how to tell a story in later seasons. It's that TV series curse. Writers writing to fill time, rather than asking the question of whether the material is compelling. I really drifted in and out of Jupiter's Legacy despite being a fan of the comic.

Invincible is action packed, interesting and well written. Even if some parts are meh, as a whole I pretty locked in.

Sure, but there's only room at the top for 1. We have Jupiter's Legacy, which is already alot like Invincible, which is already alot like The Boys, which is already alot like Suicide Squad, which is already alot...etc...
Its why dark gritty rapey fantasy shows were all greenlit during Game of Throne's domination, but have quietly gone quiet.

Good leaves room for a lot better shows or shows that don't go overboard with the Grim Darkness. Game of Thrones is overrated. I rather deal with Berserk again.

The image of that one "old" dude with the extremely fake beard and grey hair was enough for me to run away screaming.
Its funny because the whole point of putting these much younger actors in terrible elderly make up was because they needed them to also do the 8 hour long flashback that nobody asked for and wasnt in the comic.

Wow, that is just really, really unfortunate.

See I was never a fan of Berserk. I like me 40k grimdark, but Berserk is grimdark without the sense of irony or self awareness. Its just a horrible world where everyone is either raped or tortured, or both, and then it ends.

Not a hardcore fan of Berserk either, but I do respect the legacy it left. Plus, the artwork is God like. The soundtrack for the very first adaption is still King.

The part of the Berserk legacy I really appreciate is Dark Souls and Bloodborne. But I do resent a little bit that Berserk led a lot of writers to think that simply blood/guts(no pun intended) and a shit load of main characters getting raped/violated/tortured meant maturity and therefore good writing.

Like the Dark age of comic books, there's a thing called missing the point and misaimed fandom. If you thought Berserk is bad, you should see some of the clones. The so-called "protagonist(s)" would do things that even Guts would find offensive. And he will most likely give all of them a gruesome death.

Huh... there's a cyberpunk 2077 show... wonder if its actually going to be made

Live action FF14 film... why?!

DMC could be cool but you'll need some God tier choreography director.

The division is going to be so pointless, its like less interesting escape from new york

As for cancelling, my understanding is that Netflix is very focus on metric and likes to throw stuff at the wall and see what stick, so it makes sense to try a bunch of stuff with the intent on making everything that work a series while aggressively culling everything else.

This was pretty much my whole impression of the show.

I saw the image, I thought "well, this looks terrible", then lo and behold: one season in, the show is now cancelled.

Apparently this show cost something like $200m or something, too? Though judging by the costumes, I have no idea where that budget went.

Yeah, I don't get the point of half of these. Honestly, the only show I think has a pretty good chance of being worth watching is Cuphead, and pretty much because that is carried by the animation and the aesthetic charm.

Assasins Creed already had an awful film and the game storyline has long since ceased to be meaningful in any way, shape or form so I'm not sure why.
