Whatever, just wash your hands.
You heard the subject. What are some games you have your eyes on for it and what are some you would recommend to others?

I think the ones I'm thinking about getting are.

And

I'm sure I will stumble on others too but those are the ones offhand that I'm tempted by.

If you are looking for some recommendations then you should check out.

Which isn't actually on sale but its awesome so go buy it.

I mean there really hasn't been much these past few years I was interested in, sale or not, and Im kinda over the idea of buying bundles of games on the cheap just to spend the money.

I'm not trying to be a downer or anything, but I'm not interested in the sales. I pretty much got what I wanted on Steam already. But kudos to those that find something.

Got Resident Evil since it's £4, and I'll be finished with Ace Combat 7 soon.

I’m window browsing only this year. Still holding to my “no new purchases” prerogative and it’s a relief.

There is nothing wrong with that. I think one of the worst things Steam did was train gamers to just throw their wallets open wide and buy games during the summer sale, without thinking of why.

Steam sales stopped being good when they got rid of flash sales and bundles sadly. When I got my first gaming laptop i was able to buy every Valve game for like $30 which included Portal 2 that was still $60 at the time.

That isn't really true. I mean the holiday sales are great and for awhile they were huge, but considering how many weekly sales are on steam, its really not so much of training as just knowing that if you are waiting for something to be on sale, it will probably be on sale during one of the big ones. But there are enough regular sales that you really don't have to worry about missing out on something.

So far, the only games I've bought for this are Dark Devotion (which has been on my wishlist for a while) and the Danganronpa trilogy (because $8 a game is within my "fuck it" range of buying). $32 damage isn't too bad. Right?

I already bought one game from Bandai Namco's sale last week that's the same price right now, so I'll count it in my damage/budget: Tales of Berseria, for $10 (Australia). Haven't decided how much else to get or where to stop yet, I'll need to think about it a little more.

Edit: Picked up a total of about $140 worth of stuff. I'll try to buy stuff for friends only on Christmas now. The biggest one was Red Dead Redemption 2, which I played some of on a borrowed PS4 copy and I enjoyed it plenty there.

Rather than talk about what I'll buy I'll just try to pimp some interesting game that might not get much mention.

I'm playing troubleshooter at the moment, if you want some sort of cross between Xcom and FFT and are willing to put up with a very slow story it's an interesting game.

Recettear is a fun little game about running a store and adventuring in dungeon to find more stuff to craft/sell. It's a bit like an atelier game, only the dialogue is actually fun and doesn't overstay it's welcome.

Monster sanctuary is a mix of metroidvania and pokemon game, although a lot more of the later. Lots of way to build up your monster and you fight in 3 v 3 battle which makes for a lot of interesting tactical choice

Speaking of metroidvania, sundered is a nice looking one. The level are semi randomly generated every time you go trough them so you still have some backtracking to do but its not the same corridor every time. The upgrade you get really change the way you play.

Wizard of legend is a super nice roguelike with a tons of different magic that let you play in all kind of way.

Trial of mana is half price, look and sound good with fun character and great classes system.

Grandia 2, okay that one I'm just pimping in the hope that we get some more grandia. Great combat system (sadly the game is way too easy) and fun character (well one character is super fun and the rest of the cast is okay)

Underrail, it's like old school fallout but better (skip the DLC though, it double down on the worst aspect of the game).

Jet lancer, if you played luftrauser and want more, here it is (and if you haven't, go grab luftrauser, its super cheap and its fun)

Crying sun is like FTL but as a tactics with a bigger focus on story.

And finally

Left alive is a truly awful, game that's full of interesting idea but completely letdown by execution. I'm not really recommending it but if you like playing bad game just to try and figure out why anyone would sabotage their own game it's a really interesting play.

I'm glad someone else is getting into the theme of things.

Here are some more great ones.

Golden Treasure is hard to really describe, its a rpg choose your own adventure game... with survival where you are a dragon.

Cross Code always puts me in mind of Secret of Mana, despite not really being like it.

MO: Astray is a really good metroid vania type game with interesting story.

Freedom Planet is a lot like the old 2d Sonic games but unlike them, I really really like Freedom Planet, even with its fandom tier (but not sonic related) story.

The game play graphics of RabiRibi are kinda meh, but the character art is cute and it shows that a 2d bullethell can not only work, but be spectacular. Also has some great music and a really good story.

Suffice it to say that I took the opportunity to buy a birthday present for a friend. Unfortunately I have no idea whether any of his other friends had the same idea, so we'll see where the chips fall.

I'm fine paying 12 bucks for Binding of Isaac Repentance, but paying 10 for Afterbirth+ can go live long and suck it! And the current sale sucks! 20% off Afterbirth+ wtf. Give me 50. And it's not about the money but about the principle.

Picked up 3 games from my wishlist that were all heavily marked down. I'll probably try out at least one of them after I finish my Far Cry-athon I'm currently doing.

Yeah, especially since you can have Steam notify you of something on your wishlist going on sale, year round. So, it's just a nice time to snatch up stuff that you had your eye on, but didn't want to spend full price on. I mean if a person doesn't have enough self control to manage their budget during a sale, they probably don't during the regular year either, so it's hardly a unique problem.

Plus, it also is a nice motivation to actually remove shit from my wishlist. I'll scroll through the list of stuff on sale, and at least 3 times yesterday I was like "....huh, what...why is that on there? When did I add that thing? Oh, 2 years ago...damn that was random...." *remove from wishlist* "Ok, next"

I'm still guilty of this with Humble Bundle books. Got a big collection of survivalist books that are effectively irrelevant because (1) I don't live in a massive country where it's possible to go off-grid or own 35 guns; and (2) surviving the apocalypse would be significantly worse than just dying at the beginning of it.
