How is Nintendo successful?

You're not defending anybody, you are just stating actual facts. It's true that Sony salts make smaller file sizes for their new console. Ain't nothing you can do to change that.
Well I was growing a tad self conscious while typing that it might come off as defensive stanning, but I got a switch too cause those first party games you just don't get of the same quality elsewhere. Would like a higher framerate for Super Smash Bros though, and definitely Kirby...like how can they maintain 60fps for Mario Odyssey and Mario Kart yet a side-scrolling hack n' slash/beat em up is too much for the hardware? It's my only beef however, the rest is fine! šŸ‘Œ (Apart from the prices, but shh!)

Which side scroller hack and slash or brawler are you referring to? It handles most of the other 2D/2.5D brawlers fine.n I know Age of Calamity has its frame rate issues, but that's 3D.

Oh, sorry, I think I may have labelled kirby a hack n slash (and Smash Bros a brawler instead of a fighter) by ignorance lol šŸ˜‡

I was gonna say because Age of Calamity sometimes has like 500 guys on the screen at once and I'm honestly shocked I haven't seen much in the way of frame rate drops.

I mean, yeah, only like 3 of those guys actually matter but the 497 mooks probably still matter to the processor.

:geek:

Smash Brothers is a platform fighter with brawler elements, depending on the mode. The brawler elements were more noticeable starting with Melee. Certain Kirby games can be a proto hack and slash or brawler depending on the power-ups you copy. And that's if they have a slightly diverse moveset.

The real frame rate trouble comes in when you do co-op multiplayer. If you're doing that, then everything goes to a super slow crawl.

I can only fucking imagine. I can hear the Switch Processor squealing under the weight of rendering all those hordes and the various PCs who aren't under your control at that moment. Trying to take 2nd player input and factor that in must be really hard on the system.

They got a niche. They know their market and they cater to it, forming almost a sort a cult-like fanbase.

At the end of the day, games just need to be fun to play. People can harp on about being outdated or cutting edge technology or whatever. Does it really matter? Part of me thinks pushing the graphics boundaries for games and setting it as some sorta standard is a mistake. It just bloats costs and development time by ridiculous amounts and generally makes the game more difficult to make.

At the end of the day, a game looking like Valheim still sold millions and its still in early access. Nintendo's still trucking a lot. There's plenty of successful indie titles out there. People still chuck money at stupid mobile lootbox games to get JPGs of their waifus.

Those games didn't need exact 3D replica of a famous actor's mug to be successful.

Though I daresay that Nintendo basically survives off having a lot of first party developers. I'm not sure how successful the Switch would be if you could play Pokemon, Smash, Zelda and Splatoon on Steam lets say. You wanna play Nintendo games? Buy a Nintendo console. Simple and effective.

I don't think there's anything wrong with making your game look like Valheim or Breath of the Wild IF THEY RUN WELL which neither game actually does. Both have framerate issues. Valheim because it's just poorly optimized and Breath of the Wild because the Switch hardware is bad.

Ha! Don't disrespect da VB Wario Land! It's got me in to the character. That and more so Wario Land (GB).
I jest but as an actual....whatever the hell it was supposed to be, it didn't do it very well. I has the priv;edge to play one on demo at a Toys R Us as a wee lad and....even child me wasn't impressed with it at all. And I was one of those guys who liked Mario Paint(and the mouse) and had the Super Scope 6. I'm not even sure what that proves, actually.

The firs time I played a VB was at a Circuit City when I was 6. Wario Land was about the only one I played.
