For my part, I thought Solo was pretty awful.

...Have lost track of this conversation and don't know what Star Wars has to do with the thread, but that's my input on the Solo quality issue.
You're absolutely right.....we need a new thread in this action.....Damn it I got nothing XD

If a man tries to put on the charm with a woman, and the woman thinks he's a creep, would you say "What are you talking about, he wasn't trying to be sexual, there are apps for that"? No? I didn't think so.
Frankly, the fact that you're conflating speaking with an entirely normal inflection with "putting the charm" on someone is incredibly worrying, and makes me question whether you have the right to lecture anyone about how they should respond to creepy behaviour.

Do you think that women are hitting on you when they speak to you as well? Because most women use a different vocal inflection to men. In fact, one possible explanation of gay speech is the adoption of feminine vocal inflection.

Most women use a different vocal inflection when flirting. Can you not tell the difference?

Yes. Can you?

Because so far your record for being able to tell when people are "advertising their sexuality" is kinda 0 for 1.

This thread is a bit of a handy comfort food to visit every now and then when the doubts start to creep in that maybe modern reactionary right-wingers might have some serious points to concern ourselves with.

For the stakes always prove themselves to be so amazingly low, like now it's about some stranger's choice to not watch Netflix for the near future...a trundling streaming behemoth who could not care less and will not be affected either way: If it can survive the 'Cuties' moral panic, it can survive that. And, umm, whether a billion dolla franchise is down a few shillings?

Tbh It's genuinely almost wholesome, like watching an animated comedy to calm down after a tense horror film. Keep it up you gosh darn cuties!

Not quite it's a producer on a Netflix show now refusing to work unless they pull the special or agree never to work with Dave Chappelle again. But yeh I doubt Netflix will care and will just replace her. It's more about the silliness of the whole "How dare Netflix have something on the service I don't agree with"

Except that's what happened, you know it, and you continue lying about it because you can't find anything real to ***** about. Xsjado's got it nailed to the wall, man.

Yes......... that is what happened...... thank you....... I mean is that not showing some kind of real problem that a service now apparently is only allowed to cater to specific people or employees start to try and cause trouble and storm meetings (which is also part of what happened). Or should services only cater to everyone when it's a Christian family run bakery now?

Ok yours and Tstorm's back and fourth I feel like I should step in and try to say something to try and add something based on what I've read so far.

With your example of "Well they'll make themselves seem more macho"......... That's trying to show themselves as desirable to make people come to them but I'd have to imagine while there are apps like Grnder and gay clubs and fruit salad nights in normal life merely being macho won't get them a date as such if they're gay unless they're doing the approaching simply because people don't know they're gay so gay men attracted to them may keep their distance or not approach due to not wanting to start hitting on them only to find they're straight. Meanwhile adopting certain mannerism etc can be seen as signalling they are a certain way.

To use an example from the show My Name is Earl, Kenny the copy boy has a crush on the other dude at the copy place and the other guy at the copy place is very clearly flamboyantly gay. Kenny isn't. But Kenny knows he can approach said co-worker (with Earl's help) because he knows the guy is gay or at least all the signs point that way to begin with so he won't be immediately rejected thus he's more ok with taking the shot rather than trying to take the shot with some-one who doesn't seem like they are gay. If that makes any sense.

Can you tell me why it's all cool that conservatives force their 'war on Xmas' nonsense on stores, anti mask mandates or hetero only superheroes but once some one criticizes Chappelle is all bad?

Like, I was fine with people criticizing Star Wars sequels. Once some started talking about 'this is what happens when you put a woman/ black in' that was too far. Then you have a bunch that demanded other boycott SW too with them and I'm going.... well this isn't going to end well. And now cancel culture is rampant.

If people want to criticise someone. Go for it. If you're trying to convince others to boycott/cancel, I personally think its too far. But then, what do I know. No one else seems to follow that rule

War on Christmas? Who knows
Anti-Mask mandate? probably to prove a point about how dumb it is for private companies to get to do what they like so pure spite back.
Hetero only superheroes? I think it's more people fed up of revisionism and it being done normally to established characters just to grab headlines. Remember when they made Green Lantern gay? I doubt people do. People didn't have an issue with America Chavez being bi / a lesbian. They had an issue with the pretty terrible writing.

With Star Wars it was somewhat people who are or were fans.

To put it in comparison it would be like people boycotting all Disney due to Star Wars. That's a better comparison to people presently mad at Netflix.

As far as boycotts. Boycott whatever the hell you like but it's a bit stupid boycotting the whole of Netflix because of Dave Chappelle and not the massive exploitation of labour that goes on and the fact unlike every other company Netflix pays no royalties to creators (outside of about 3 shows made in Sweden).

I'm not going to get mad at Amazon for [inset series that's controversial and I'd actually dislike outright and not merely think it's not for me] for making that series that I don't like when I can just criticise the series.

Your choice to infantilize gay men has not compelled me to change my mind.
Everything you say is just so baffling.

I have a slight gay voice. I was bullied for it all through high school, despite having several girlfriends over that time, being pretty openly affectionate towards girls and generally showing no signs of not being straight except voice and presentation. Because of this, I learned to code switch by adopting a fake "masc" voice, but that voice is the affectation. That is the voice I deliberately developed. The higher, sing-song, slightly dentalized "gay" voice is my real voice. It's the way I spoke as a child, it's the way I've always spoken to people I know and trust. Sometimes I slip into it when I'm tired.

Outside of pointing out that I was at one point a literal child, I don't think I'm infantilizing myself in any way, and I'm certainly not infantilizing anyone else. That's just my voice. For everyone I know who has a similar voice, it's just their voice. Coming out made me feel more comfortable and less self-conscious about it, but at the end of the day it's just a different voice. It's no more or less inherently sexual than anyone else's voice.

Whose sexuality are you really seeing here?

Funny event in Woke world.
IMDB has had to "Rebalance" the ratings on the documentary about Fauci due to the number of low scores it's getting.

Imagine how weirdly overly sensitive and petty you have to be to literally change the review scores on a documentary to ignore people objecting to it to try and make it look better than it is.

NOTE: Our rating mechanism has detected unusual voting activity on this title. To preserve the reliability of our rating system, an alternate weighting calculation has been applied.

It's almost like online review-bombing is a dishonest tactic to inorganically alter a product's review score contrary to actual public reception, and review platforms of every type have, for years now, been taking steps to counter it. Once again, the sheer ridiculousness of what you claim is the next big travesty of "wokeness" just proves how utterly inane the imagined culture war you think you're fighting with these posts really is.

So it only counts as a fair review when it's The Guardian reviewing Ghostbusters Afterlife because it was made too much for fans of the original Ghostbusters films and didn't do enough to acknowledge the 2016 film despite the 2016 film being a reboot not set in the same universe as the originals? Or similar such reviews like Moviebob even acknowledged the push against Jumanji Welcome to the Jungle because of the backlash to The Last Jedi?

I'm sorry weren't you and others getting bent out of shape in the Anti-Woke world over a Ben Shapiro tweet the other day.

Speaking of Tweets Non-binary Dogs are now a thing being brought up

This is very interesting that you're bringing this up.

Usually, people leaning to the right have the catchphrase "Keep your politics out of X".

So, I decided to look at the reviews instead of just handwaving it away as conservatives being conservatives. You know, being inconsistent.

No question that Fauci failed on both HIV and COVID-19 and this documentary is not enough to repair the damage that he has done. It only made it worse that is why you get to see 1.7 rating at IMDB because people who saw the documentary knows what Fauci has truly done during those situations. He was expected to produce the results but he did not.
I sat down during the weekend to check this out. Anticipating the lies, propaganda and complete lack of self-awareness I loaded up with popcorn and vodka. And I was not disappointed. This is one of the most blatant in-your-face propaganda flicks of all time.

This is completely one-sided, with no reflection, no mention of Fauci lying to congress, nothing about the controversies, and this "documentary" (hahaha...) probably contain less truths than a North Korean state dinner. And that is what make this so bad. This "documentary" (hahaha...) is competently filmed, decently edited and pretty well made which is the only reason I am not giving this 1/10.
Long story short, it's a one sided plot aimed at painting Dr fauci in a positive light to misdirect people and gloss over his professional failings during the pandemic, and simply adds more weight to criticism that he's been so bad as to require this as damage control.
Sadly there is no real assessment of his mistakes, & focuses on the mistakes of those who might question his propaganda. Terrible Disney indoctrination, makes me sad to watch as it was the equivalent of praising & forgiving Bill Cosby because he made people laugh once.
In this movie, Fauci is praised as one of the greatest experts in the world of infectious disease and pandemics who also just happens to be one helleva nice guy. The main problem with the movie is it just doesn't match the reality of Fauci's pandemic response. We are going on our 3rd destructive year of the pandemic with no end in sight. I was hoping this movie would give me some reason to hope for the future, that maybe someday this pandemic will actually end but instead it fills me with despair about the future. It attempts to take a victory lap about what is a failed response up until now, with no course correction. Just keep on doing exactly the same things as before and expecting a different outcome. I found it very depressing.
To be blunt, as many of these people said, they came in looking for a train wreck because it has been a train wreck in their minds. They were going to settle for nothing less than a Fauci bashing, because that's what they think he deserved.

Frankly, that has nothing to do with the movie. Any criticism that is biased isn't a criticism. It's an agenda. And it has nothing to do with an actual review of a work. It's all about his perceived failures, not the movie itself.

Let's make a few things clear. I have no love lost for Fauci. I called Bullshit when he said we shouldn't wear masks. I bought and wore masks, and I was right to do so. So I really don't care for all of this praise as is. But the reality is, Dr. Fauci makes suggestions, and it's up to the president to follow or not. The President didn't follow. The President did whatever he wanted. When the numbers weren't going the way he wanted, Trump suggested we stop testing. When Fauci said this was serious, Trump said one day we were going to wake up and it was going to magically vanish. When Fauci said isolation, Trump said we need to open up.

Lastly, I want to know why do you not get as upset when your side leads with their politics, but then get upset with 'woke'? This is your side's version of woke. We just don't have a name for it.

Asleep? Does "Asleep" work?

Yep, the controversy sure does blow over. Like it never really mattered in the first place. Yes, we all know... (or should.) But then we have to hear how evil making Jonathan Kent Bi is. Because learning from previous mistakes isnt a thing for some people

Silly goose.

Fauci got it wrong on masks, that means he was wrong on everything.

Trump got it right on cutting off international travel from China, so Trump is right on everything.

Conservative logic!
