I am once again negative for covid. I'm starting to think this Vaccine thing isn't a hoax after all. I gotta send Joe a tweet about this.

Thats when you know your views are no longer about science and it's just politics.

As I am currently undergoing the prerequisite testing to get on the candidate list for a kidney transplant myself I feel compelled to say: colossal moron.

Transplant organs are incredibly scarce and need to be used to the best effect, which means not given to people wilfully endangering themselves.

When you get an organ transplant your immune system has to be suppressed so that the organ doesn't start getting rejected by the body, which means you're much more likely to die from something as basic as the flu. When something as virulent as the flu and 10x more deadly is around and infecting massive swaths of the population of course they don't want to waste an incredibly valuable organ on someone who is significantly more likely to die post transplant than the next person on the recipient list.

Some of them are. If the principle isn't idiotic.
I also wonder if some of these people are not confusing their principles with their pride.

No, hereditary disease. So I am in a similar position as that guy, tho my situation is not as dire. Will still die a miserable death from being poisoned by my own blood if I don't take the necessary steps to ensure my own survival, many of which are bigger asks in terms of time, effort and general lifestyle changes than the couple minutes it takes to get a shot. Hence why I think the guy a colossal moron.

Yes, it is. Fortunately, hemodialysis to tide things over until a donor organ can be found. Tho that is in itself also pretty rough. Next few years are gonna suck.

Yup, and they check absolutely everything to make sure you're as healthy as can be and there is as little as possible that could cause complications. Down to your teeth. Got a cavity? That, if not the entire tooth, has gotta go. Cuz even something as minor as an infected tooth could end you in the first couple weeks after your transplant.

Does that mean you shouldn't take vaccines?

I could understand that being a screwed up catch 22... not being able to take a vaccine due to health conditions but not being able to 'fix' the health conditions because you cant take vaccines

That is a good point. What "principle" is it, precisely, to refuse that vaccine? It's not exactly refusing on the grounds they'd be better given to save the lives of the more needy, or it was grown out of fetal cells, etc.

Dumb obstinacy sounds like a better term.

Oh no, you misunderstood I think, my condition does not exclude me from getting vaccines. Which I have of course, because getting a couple shots is one of the easier, more pleasant preparations for getting on the transplant list. Not that I wouldn't have gotten vaccinated asap otherwise.

A state trooper is a police officer who works for a US state rather then a city, thus having jurisdiction on highways and areas outside of city limits. I could be wrong but I'm sure it's to prevent a criminal from fleeing the city and not being able to be arrested because they're outside the applicable Law Enforcement Jurisdiction.

Presumably a criminal who robbed a bank in a city and then fled for the rural areas would be arrested by a state trooper and then given back to the city police once they were properly processed and the city police could arraign a pickup(of course, if the city police were still chasing them along with the state trooper, they might just hand them over as soon as the arrest was made). At least I'm assuming that's how this works.

I have no clue, but the link was interesting to read because that person in particular made a big splash when quitting his job to get away from a vaccine mandate, getting on Fox News and all that, only to die of Covid three months later.
