Long story short, I realized I have a AAA game, Tom Clancy's The Division 2 on my computer and I did not realize it was there. Got an 85/100 on IGN and... well... I don't recall buying it. Not played. I am now at least through the opening of getting to the White House.

When your pile of shame includes triple AAA games you forgot you bought I think your pile of shame is out of control. You?

Every so often I'll be looking through my steam library and ask myself "When the fuck did I buy that? Was it part of a bundle or something?". Not that I don't remember when I bought it, literally I don't remember ever purchasing it, like some evil computer gnome got into my steam library and put some random games in there.

Often followed up with the question "Why did I buy that? God I hope I didn't pay much for it".

So I have a LOT of kickstarter-funded games on my list, but I don't have any hours put into some of them. In fact, Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night is probably the only kickstarter game I've ever played to the end.

So to list some of my never-or-barely played kickstarter games:
Counter Terrorist Agency, a law enforcement simulator that currently has 47% approval rating on steam. It's been out for a while but due to the ratings I just don't feel like playing

Achtung! Cthulhu Tactics, a grid-based strategy game that i put 15 min into only to find out it's a discount XCOM

Crying Suns, a space fleet strategy game where I got bored within 10 min of playing it

Dreamscaper, a game that I found was roguelike... AFTER installing and playing it

The Waylanders, a supposed dragon age-inspired tactics fantasy rpg and a game that is just sitting there

I have 56 free games on my Epic Games Store. To date I have actually launched 16 of them, and of those 16 I have played 6 of them for more than half an hour.

I'll put it this way.

I have over 200 games on GOG, I've played one of them.

I have over 300 games on Steam, probably played between 5 and 10% of them.

I've got about 2 games on Origin, played none of them.

Dunno how many games I've got on Ubisoft's thing and Epic, but played none of them.

That said, almost all of these (easily over 90%) are stuff I've got for free (e.g. Epic giving its freebies), or stuff from places such as Humble Bundle. I can pay around $5 AUD for a variety of Steam codes, or get games on sale off GOG for just a few dollars, and over time, it builds up.

So, yeah, in one sense things got out of control, but it's less than the price of lunch, and less frequent.

Well, I have almost 80 games on my still need to play list on steam. Granted that is out of like 900 or so games.

There were some older JRPGs that basically got ported to the PC a good decade or so after their original release on consoles I didn't have. Some of them were bundled and were cheap so I was like hell yeah, time to catch up on what I missed out on!

But I didn't take my age, changed tastes and tech advancement into account and I found that I couldn't really stomach those games anymore. I'd play like the first of a trilogy a bit and.... stop. Turns out I'm no longer a student and I ain't got patience for a lot of BS anymore when I spend most of my energy during working hours. And being in my 30s, certain anime-isms don't really do it for me anymore where I would've eaten that shit up in my early 20s.

I've also claimed codes from some people I know just giving out extras from humble bundle that they already owned or didn't want, and those are just sitting around since I never had any interest in those games to begin with and went - HEY FREE SHIT!!!

Steam says I have 142 games but that includes a lot of DLC packs, expansions etc. It's probably around 100
40 odd in the 25hrs plus bracket, including some I barely remember.
There's about 10 that I would have put in my pile of shame but actually I've played about 10-20 hours, which surprised the hell out of me.
Maybe about 30 or so that sit in the sub 2hr bracket.
Never played at all I think is only Portal, half life 2, far cry 3.


GOG. has 48 games.
3 are games I played a lot of a long, long time ago but have played maybe half an hour or so on GOG
10 more I've played for between a few minutes and a few hours either back in the mists of time or recently
Rest I've never touched

Epic has rocket league untouched.

Might be something on origin, but I can't be bothered to reinstall it and find out.

Thanks guys for making me feel better about my pile of shame. I only have 6 games that I haven't started. I thought I had more. But its still enough for me to ban myself from buying any more. I have plenty to finish too.

However, that Fuga: Melodies of Steel does look good...

984 game on steam (with a 574 wishlist), I'm gonna be generous and say I booted half of them. It's getting to the point where I have game that the sequel was release and I still haven't touched the original. I'm in between game atm so I'm going trough some pretty fast, like I just tried nexomon, a pokemon clone, played maybe 4 hours of it and the UI is goddamn atrocious and the game has this weird system where creature are ranked in rarity and low rarity monster just have lower stats and are flat out not worth using so 90% of what you see is just garbage. Apparently the sequel is better so maybe I'll drop it now and play the sequel in a decade.

As for division, I got the original and haven't touched it, it was super cheap at the time so I just went "why not" but now I don't even know if its still playable or if the server have been taken offline.

Can the world just stop making game for a year or two?

Recently found out I have the complete edition of Mortal Kombat 11 and Aftermath somehow (komplete?), no memory of buying it, but whatevs. So been trying to get back into that, but it makes my poor widdle left-hand thumb hurt! Despite building tougher fingertips from guitaring many years, the thumb, alas, was totally ignored and left to soften like equatorial cheese. So now it must be trained too! In short bouts. Perhaps that guy in college who played the low E string with his thumb had the right idea after all.

There is always shame though, always. And not even catholic shame!

I have no pile of shame. There are games that I never finished, but that's usually because I didn't like them to begin with or tried to, but had no willpower. So I either gave them away, or sold/traded them in for something else. More so the latter.

There are some games in my Steam library I didn't finish, but I already completed them on the 360 anyway. And even then, my steam library ain't even that big.

I don't think that's bad.
And i don't really think of "shame" when it comes to backlog. FOMO rather.
