After looking over my library, I'm actually surprised how much of my backlog I actually do remember. Most of it isn't even stuff that I question why I got to begin with but rather that I just haven't felt like playing some of them. I think it's mostly that a lot of them are games I'd feel more likely to play if I could do it on the go rather than having to sit down and commit at my computer.

Thread title, baiting dark side, must resist.

Recently found out I have the complete edition of Mortal Kombat 11 and Aftermath somehow (komplete?), no memory of buying it, but whatevs. So been trying to get back into that, but it makes my poor widdle left-hand thumb hurt! Despite building tougher fingertips from guitaring many years, the thumb, alas, was totally ignored and left to soften like equatorial cheese. So now it must be trained too! In short bouts. Perhaps that guy in college who played the low E string with his thumb had the right idea after all.

There is always shame though, always. And not even catholic shame!

Ahh, so you use the classical grip, no? I've tried rock grip a few times but I simply don't play enough to get the hang of it, and my smallish hands/stubby finger tips don't reach enough to hit individual strings very cleanly.

I currently have about 216 games in my backlog, but I own many, many more that I have obtained through bundles, give aways, etc, that I am just not really that interested in, so they are not included in that list.

To my knowledge, I don't think that I have ever looked at a game, tried to buy it, and then realised that I already own it. But as that number suggests, there have definitely been more than a few occasions where I have bought a game, and then just never touched it.

Im generally very familiar with what is in my backlog, but I am just having trouble getting around to playing most of them.

Wasn't that in a Humble Bundle semi-recently?

There are other ways to grasp the fumble buttons?? But yeah it's the need to aggressively use the D-pad for the moves that's killing the virginal left thumb at the mo. Thumbsticks have been treating me too good!

Backlog is sitting at 28 games right now. Not ideal, but not too bad. Back in 2014 or so it was still around 150+ or so. I only really buy games I fully intend to play anymore. As for stuff like bundles, I just keep what I actually want, the rest I give away. Don't need that shit clogging up my library. Also helps that I imposed a "no impulse buys" rule and a strict monthly budget.

That's games I buy tho. Free games? Yeah no, bit more dramatic of a situation. 300+ games probably? Lemme see, every Epic Store giveaway ever, that's probably close to 150-200 already. Another 50-80 on GOG. 20-40 on other launchers like Uplay and Origin and such, which I never use. Like 10-15 digital games for PS4 and Xbone, neither console I actually own. Could be more. Could be less. I have no clue, stopped tracking them a couple years ago, just write the ones I might just play one day if I'm every done with my real backlog down in a list. Only time I pay it any mind is when I ctrl-f to see if I hadn't gotten a game I want to buy for free at one time.

They say gaming is expensive. but with epic and gog, you could have a HUGE library of games without ever having paid a cent. Only the cost of the computer which is not just a gaming machine but usable for countless other things as well....like porn and..uh...other stuff probably.

I meant for guitar grip, since you mentioned the left thumb being spared calluses. Not typically the case with rock grip since the thumb hooks around the low e vs classical finger barring.

But the dpad can and will make up for that smooth left thumb with any fighting game lol.

Gaming is expensive, regardless if you suffer heavily from FOMO (or not) and try to buy every new game that comes out at full price. Doesn't help that these games are not as expensive as publishers try to sell them off as, but will sell them at a shell price $60-70 and take what was actual game content or bonus content and make it DLC, crappy micro transactions, or NFTS. Even if these games are on sale, a majority of them are worth asking price. Some of them aren't even worth $5 or less. And many of them lately aren't even worth free.

Oh yeah, for sure. Pc is where you want to be, if you want stuff that's free, (not tied to a subsciption fee). Tho you do have to content yourself with older and/or indie games, and you never really if and when you'll get something you like. Pros and cons.

Have you hear about the award winning MMO...... :D

There are also a lot of free to play games that you can get a LOT of mileage out of without spending any money.

Lost Ark just came out (impressions soon)
Path of Exile
League of Legends
Apex Legends

There is a wealth of free shit available, even on console tbh.

Gaming has a decent initial cost (depending on how crazy your pc is), but the year to year upkeep (I.E. new games) can be next to nothing depending on the player.

See I'm starting to feel the opposite. I'm begining to come to the conclusion that "impulse" buys are what I should be encouraging with myself and what I should avoid are the "Eh, maybe it'll be fun, and it's cheap." buys.

I justify buying games because I deem myself a collector now. So even if i don't play a game, or don't intend to play a game, I feel some value in having the copy on the shelf for collection purposes.

Ah, I get ya! That type of grip I find to be more hassle and sacrifices some other reach too, for the niche minority of uses it seems for, so I just stuck to barring as it served the same purpose with less faffing. The only guy I knew who uses that thumb style was a real dedicated grunge guy, the most grungy anyone could ever grunge. Should've nicknamed him grunge-thumb when the chance was there, but oh well.
