Kharon's Crypt. It's a Gameboy Color style top down game where you play as Kharon, the embodiment of death, trying to escape from a crypt that you were imprisoned in by a man wishing to live forever.

Im actually impressed with just how long the game is, I was expecting it to be really short but it's actually a full fledged game that could have been a real game on the GBC. It's quite fun and it's ironic it released on the day Mina the Hollower was announced.

Now I'm gonna be playing certain Fire Emblem games.

The "Ike Duology", the games that has the character Ike from Smash Brothers.

Fire Emblem Path of Radiance and Radiant Dawn. They were the first games to make the jump to 3D, although its still the exact same chess grid turned based games as the prior ones.
I wouldn't bother with radiant dawn, there are plenty of much better FE game. It tries to do a flip where you play as people who were part of the evil guy kingdom in path of radiance and go for more of a grey story. But FE story have simple cartoonish story where the bad guy are super evil and the good guy are super good, so that doesn't really work. On the gameplay side you play as both new characters and the character from path of radiance, but the new character just suck compare to the old one, so once the two side merge you just bench every new character.

Time to talk about the black sheep of our medium that I seem to be the only one that cares about on this forum, romance Visual Novels. Playing 'Some Some Convenience Store', it's a nice VN, not a very complicated one but these types are refreshing in their own way. Specifically I enjoy the writing from the developer, Talesshop. Maybe it has to do with them being a Korean company and so they have a different perspective or they aren't entrenched in the character and storyline types that are more typical of Japanese VN's, but there's something fresh about their plots and writing, a spark of earnestness I guess. They even come up with some interesting fantasy worlds like in 'Miracle Snack Shop' where one of the main characters is the queen of a kingdom in a world where "salt" is a source of magic power. Their VN's are refreshing for someone like me but I also think they're easier to get into for people that haven't read VN's before.

On the off chance anyone decides to give them a shot at all, I would recommend 'Miracle Snack Shop' the most and if you're not one for uh, sexual scenarios, then there's no need to worry as there aren't any. But, as I said, I believe most people here aren't interested. But yeah, that's something I've been playing.

I may not care about VNs, but I don't consider them black sheep. They're not my thing, and that's the record. Enjoy whatever you're playing.

I tested it out, and the oldest you can get is 76. How fast you age, depends on the amount of death counts you have. For example, you die when you have 3 death counts, you age another 3 years upon resurrection. Once you get to 70+ Age, you've reached final death. After that, you lose all your temp upgrades and XP, but you can keep all the hidden items you found through exploration.
Fuc...even with a limit that still makes SoulsBorne seem like a health spa retreat. What are the penalties for aging too much...guessing something like arthritis or gout, making reaction times and melee damage worsen? Maybe they also throw in some Alzheimer's to forget what moves you've learned?

Beat Fight'N Rage in two player local coop. A Streets of Rage ripoff, with mostly the same controls and even the same kinds of whipping dominatrices, but not bad.

HAHAHAHAHA. Nothing like that, but it would be interesting. The older you get, the more you become a glass cannon. You do more damage, but can't take as many hits and have less health. Also, certain moves or perks are exclusive to certain ages.

Out of the recent Streets of Rage clones, this is the game I've gone back and replayed the least. It's got great bonus content, but levels drag on for too long in the last 2/3. Also, fuck that stupid checkpoint with the 3 doberman. I prefer The TakeOver.

Yeah, God Hand is a light jog in comparison to SIFU's strict lives and continue limit. At least you get unlimited continues and a ton of checkpoints in God Hand. Even Shinji Mikami is not that crazy with difficulty....most of the time.

I've beaten Radiant Dawn before. It wasn't the worse thing ever last I played.

After getting further into Fallen Order, I now have a thesis for why I don't think this game really works: Being a Jedi is fun. And it is fun because you're a superhuman swordsman who can literally throw around his enemies with a thought. Which so horribly clashes with the Dark Souls approach they took with this game.

Nothing is more fun that picking up a panicking stormtrooper and chucking him off a cliff. So when you come up against some alien monster boss and you realize your Force powers may as well not exist, you're forced into wailing on them with your all of a sudden wimpy lightsaber. Which sucks, because these boss fights are supposed to be the meat of this game, and the lesser enemies just fluff. This would be more bearable if the lightsaber combat was any good, but it just isn't designed well enough, especially on a base PS4. So you're basically having the time of your life double jumping everywhere, shoving people to their doom with your thoughts, and OHKing most enemies, only to be ***** slapped every so often, having all your powers taken away from you, and forced to play it safe until you whittle down a gigantic health bar.

There are admittedly a couple of cool things about the second half of the DLC.
  1. The starlet who got trapped inside the hotel and committed suicide by overdose, but had her last moments of desperation during the lockdown recorded by the hologram system. The concept of this holographic playing someone's despair endlessly on repeat for over a century is a legitimately horrific concept, and it really got under my skin.
  2. The way you can deal with Dog/God non-combatively. With a high enough speech skill you can merge his split identity into one, forming a new consciousness and memory. I just love shit like that.
  3. When you get to the vault you can look through some data files on the computer. Looking through one there's a warning about looking at personal accounts, which are unlocked by looking at said file. If you decide to look through the personal accounts, the game locks you in the vault, unable to escape. It then cuts to an epilogue segment about how the Courier starved to death in the vault, but ended up recorded as a hologram, in a way granting them eternal life. As far as non-standard game overs go it's pretty neat.
That does sound pretty cool, Fallout Games always have those memorable bits.
Having to choose between Mr.House and the Brotherhood of Steel when he orders you to destroy them
was the hardest and most memorable decision I've ever had to make in gaming. I even left the game for a year or so because I couldn't make up my mind.

I probably would pick it up again to play to the end of the DLC if the save wasn't many years deleted and I just couldn't bear trying to install all the mods again.

That decision was forced on you due to cut content because the game had to be rushed out, originally there was supposed to be a way to keep the brotherhood even if you went house route.

Playing Sifu.

It's kung-fu Hotline Miami, but with a death mechanic that forces you to genuinely train. And so far I actually quite like the training. I've not been able to make it through the second level, but I'm enjoying just going through the first level over and over and trying to really master (hur) my movement.

Tiny Tina’s Assault on Dragon Keep: A Wonderlands One-Shot Adventure

It's the 2013 Tiny Tina DLC from Borderlands 2 but released as a standalone game a couple of months ago in preparation for the Tiny Tina game they're releasing later this year. I never played the DLC so I don't know if they changed anything about it or if it's worth the 10 bucks. As a PS+ freebie it's alright. It's Borderlands but clocks about 6 hours instead of 60. Me and my girlfriend used to play the games a whole lot back when we didn't have any others (that and RE5) so it's a really nice throwback to where we were in 2013-2014.

Yeah, I did read that originally you were meant to be able to choose, and I think there was a mod somewhere that did the same.
But ultimately I liked it, it fit that Mr.House was this cold autocratic genius. While he valued your skill, you were just a tool to enact his will. He gave the orders and on some things he just couldn't be persuaded.

About done with the side quests in Majora's Mask and working through Ikana Castle(and Stone Tower once that's complete). So on one hand, a lot of the side quests are interesting and some of them quite invovled. On other hand, Side quests are like 75% of the game, though in that case it's a good thing they're generally well done. The Anju and Kefre quest is very long and involved, though ultimately satisfying. The big flaw is you have to do it twice if you want all the rewards but at least the 2nd time you can just skip to the important bits.

I can't really fault the game. The time loop actually makes it viable to have a bunch of smaller quests and stories, though some of the side activities feel a bit much unless you're going for 100% completion. I've done most of the side stuff except for some of the mini-game like the swamp bow game and the "Complete the bomb game 3 days in a row" just because my reflexes aren't good enough to beat them and I don't think an extra heart is really gonna matter much this far into the game where I've had very little problem and almost never had to use healing potions.

At this point I'm about ready to finish up this and another game before Elden Ring drops because I'm starting to feel the urge to jump in at launch. If ER ends up having a really rough lauch(like buggy, beset with hackers, much worse then the other games) then I can always play something else but right now I'm pretty much cleaning up in prep for the next month or so after ER drop being the ER show.

Only recently realised the Ghost of Tsushima Legends mode has been hiding away in the menu all this time untested, so decided to check it out as there were brief memories of positive talk regarding the experience. And yeah, it's surprisingly well done, not some rushed-out cash grab. There's even a story co-op section with difficulty tiers tied to better rewards. Reminded of the old Assassin's Creed multiplayer mode at times, which was also an unexpectedly fun stealth multiplayer jobbie. Am not sure about how much it will be pushing to use voice chat as the difficulty rises through, as that may be the trickiest barrier for my particular funbag of anxieties to get past. But otherwise, am impressed and will continue until the forced socialisation takes hold.

Welp, Nintendo just announced a new platform that I can play Earthbound on today, so guess who's got an excuse to play through Earthbound again?

That's correct: Everyone with a Nintendo Switch who's played Earthbound before. Including me.
