The idea of a trans character lying and tricking a straight person into sleeping with them is an issue for a very specific reason: that's a real-world stereotype with a long history, which has been used as a justification to abuse and even murder trans people in the past.
Murder at any excuse is wrong.

Though i wonder why it has become a stereotype, is it because of a self-generated reputation from trans people actually doing that? Or something from the movies like making fun of Asains by making a chang-chung comment which asian people don't actually ever say.

It springs from an insecurity common among straight dudes. The same reason straight guys will say "just don't hit on me" to gay people who aren't doing any such thing-- and notice how the "gay panic" defence has been used to justify assaulting or even killing gay men.

But yeah, if it's a common slur and the source of real-world denigration and abuse, then it's not cool for it to be common in cultural depictions and comedy. It reinforces all those suspicious notions.

Then why did it take until 2013 for the American Bar Association to approve a resolution calling for a ban of "gay panic" defenses? And why have thirty-four states still not done so?
Did people actually get away with murdering gays just because they were gay?

And recurring stereotypes fostered those prejudices and suspicions.
Doesn't this reenforce the very thing I've been saying in that the character should be a well written character before slapping an LBGT label upon them? give the character dynamics, troubles, depth, THEN make them LBGT if you want.

Well yeah, but if a writer is using sexuality to make a character unsympathetic/untrustworthy, then just making the writing a bit better doesn't really address the problem.

In 2018, a man in Texas got probation for stabbing his gay neighbor to death.

Any other examples?

Right, but I'm not even arguing that sexual content has to be a part of it. A character can be LBGT without needing to use anything sexual as part of the story. That's kind of what i mean about writing, the hot shot detective with an itchy trigger finger also happens to be gay or whatever. The LBGT is a footnote to the character because it shouldn't be really the THING that defines the person.

Whereas in Batwoman her being a major Lesbian was damn near her whole personality. It also effected Ellie in TLOU2 to a lesser degree.

You can't be this fucking oblivious? What rock have you've been under dude. You know you're smarter than that. Don't even pretend to be shocked.

Any other examples?
Then start fucking looking. You have a computer. Not everyone is going to do your job for you. You have free will don't you? Do something useful with it, if you do.

Wow, you really are that oblivious?

Get started.

That's all you get.

I don't really think this reply addresses what we're talking about. The prominence of sexuality for the character in question is another question.

While we're here, though: relationship and sexuality comes up for Ellie less than it does for your average straight character with a partner. It gets noticed more. That's all.

I dunno about that. A lot of the plot is driven by Ellies sexuality which doesn't come up with "straight" characters. And to be fair I think a lot of characters are left ambiguous because their sexuality is meaningless and therefore the player can determine that if they wish. Does it help you enjoy the character better if Mario is gay, then go for it. There is nothing that counters that stance.

Your Call of Duty character can be whatever you want. But then since relationships don't crop up in every game, it's not relevant. So it's up for player interpretation that's all.

Thanks. That's fucked up.

I think you're better to go with your CoD example. Mario chasing a princess is enough evidence to say that he'd be straight (usually)

What? Hardly anything of the plot is driven by Ellie's sexuality.

Some of it is driven by her relationship. Which isn't the same thing, and is true for countless straight characters to an equal or greater degree.
