Blah blah blah. Its not genitals. That's not "sophistry". It's a fact.
Blah Blah Blah sophistry at it's finest while being unable to actually counter the argument points I presented.

Never said a sex toy isn't sexual. I said there aren't any genitals. Which is true.

Dude, just admit you didn't realise that.
So if it's an item of a sexual nature then yes the pictures are sexual in nature. Thus yes would count as pornographic.

Thank you for playing this game.

*facepalm*

No, this situation is nothing to do with the school library being unable to carry the books. No books were removed from the school library.

You still don't actually know the very most basic facts of the situation. You haven't even bothered to find that out before getting mad and slinging shit.
Part of the reason said teacher is claimed to have quit is not being able to give student access to said books and them being banned books. So yes this would mean school libraries carrying them as that would be where many students access books too.

She was suspended and then resigned. That's just a fact of the case, available from numerous sources already provided.
Which if she truly believed she had done no wrong then wait to be cleared by the investigation. As such she resigned and threw a nice little lot of politicised words out there to try and cause trouble and stir up shit because on some level I suspect she realised she screwed up but wanted to leave being seen and the good person who was innocent and did nothing wrong here.

Its. Not. About. Allowing. Books. In. The. School. Library. No books were removed from the school library. She provided a QR code that pointed them to the public library and the "books unbanned" list, and was suspended for doing so as it was deemed a political stunt.

Learn the basics of the situation before you mouth off. Is that too much to ask?
And TEACHERS are not meant to bring politics into the classroom where irrelevant. Maybe learn one of the basic tenants of the job in question and why it's so fucking important that the idea of not unduly influencing kids is maintained as an idea in the classroom. Or is that too much to ask?

What is political about 'Go to the library if you want books the school does not have'?

It's the "Go to this library that has these books that are banned from you being allowed access to at school" that it becomes a problem especially as it was done in a classroom in a way that allowed the kids to bypass parental consent at home and access books the school board and or local authorities had deemed not appropriate for the the kids.

If the teacher had sent round some letter / email to parents it would be a bit different. If parents are fine with their kids accessing it it's on them but it was doing so in the classroom on a display poste that's the big issue here. It's kind of a huge breach of trust. Like allowing kids access to material deemed not appropriate for them no matter how artistic it's been deemed like as an example showing kids films not appropriate for their age group etc.

I never needed permission from any of my parents to go to a public library, nor do I recall needing the same to obtain a library card and thus borrow a book. And even if there was some parental oversight required, a public library still allows any one to go in and find a book and sit and read it on the premises free of charge.

You mentioned 'Girl with the Dragon Tattoo' and asked if someone was comfortable with it being available for young teens what with its rape scenes and the like; well my primary school library had 'The Power of One' and 'Tandia' on the shelf for consumption by students in theory as young as six; and FYI, Tandia opens with a rape; and both books are full to the brim with some really confronting passages describing violence, racism, sexual abuse and all the other wholesome fun to be found in Apartheid Africa circa 1920. So frankly if I can read those books at age twelve without civilsation falling, I don't see why a bunch of fourteen to sixteen year olds can't read a memoir that has a few spicy illustrations that will likely pale in comparison to their search history on Pornhub.

In that case it would come down the the parents responsibility then. Not checking at least where you're going etc etc. Outside of school on your own accord it's whatever.

Fair enough though those in theory were approved material by the school or the school didn't realise about the content of them, I personally wouldn't consider them appropriate for kids as young as six.

By the time it got itself into my grubby hands, the Power of One had been a bestselling book and had a rather critically successful feature film adapted from it. And its author, Bryce Courtney, a well celebrated writer in Australia. Its content was not a secret by any means. It is perhaps possible they relied on their door stopping size - each one is about the size of Order of the Phoenix - and the dryness of the subject matter (on the surface) to dissuade all but the most devoted bibliophiles.

Doesn't really take anything to counter "There's a penis" when there's literally not a penis. That's usually enough: the fact it's factually and demonstrably untrue.

So if it's an item of a sexual nature then yes the pictures are sexual in nature. Thus yes would count as pornographic.

Thank you for playing this game.
Sorry, you believe anything sexual in nature is pornography?

So, nature documentaries, sex-ed classes, all pornography?

Part of the reason said teacher is claimed to have quit is not being able to give student access to said books and them being banned books. So yes this would mean school libraries carrying them as that would be where many students access books too.
That's literally not true. The books weren't banned.

She directed them to the public library.

No part of this situation is about whether the school library should carry them or not.

Which if she truly believed she had done no wrong then wait to be cleared by the investigation. This doesn't address what was said. You said she wasn't suspended. That's factually untrue. Don't just start talking about other stuff. Acknowledge your mistake.

This doesn't address what was said either. You said it's about the school library carrying these books, and thus it impacts the school budget. That's factually untrue. Don't just start talking about other stuff. Acknowledge your mistake.

I say this as some-one who was trained as a teacher.
That's truly terrifying.

The teacher should not have been advertising books that aren't appropriate for youth. The teacher, like all of you, was almost certainly ignorant of the content of the books she was promoting, because I don't believe she was really that adamant about putting blow jobs in front of her students. She is one of many people who is under the impression that these are perfectly reasonable books that happen to involve queer people, who thinks the books are being attacked based on bigotry alone, and I can understand her actions from that perspective. But ignorance is not an excuse for behavior, she deserved suspension until she agreed to knock it off, and they didn't even go that far.
Do you think linking to the "Books unbanned" list, which is (again) nationally recognised and promoted and contains many hundreds of books of every ilk, represented "advertising" specific books on that list?

It's the signing up to easy unfettered access on a device not exactly monitored a huge amount by parents where the issue comes in. Hell it's a set of devices with far less parental restriction tools than many modern consoles.
Quick reminder for anyone who is still arguing with him genuinely, that this is his description of a PUBLIC LIBRARY.

See point before about sophistry and how your argument really should be making little difference.

Are you really going to argue that there is a vast difference between a character sucking on a fake penis vs a person sucking on a natural penis?

Sorry, you believe anything sexual in nature is pornography?

Human and designed more for entertainment which yeh that book is.

That's literally not true. The books weren't banned.

From the article that kicked this off

An Oklahoma Teacher Fought the Book-Banning Right and Lost Her Job

....

An Oklahoma English teacher helped students apply for library cards so they could read banned books

....

Her crime was helping her students apply for library cards so they could read banned books.

....

the initiative includes a link to report attempts to take books off the shelf, one where teens can get help finding frequently banned books at their local public library.....

........

The original wording of the bill doesn’t include the word “book,” although the HB 1775 Emergency Rules available on Oklahoma’s state government website ominously include “librarians” among the school employees who can lose their jobs if they’re held to have violated the law. In any case, any doubt about whether Boismier was right to suspect that the law could be used to ban books was immediately removed when she was suspended from her job, under suspicion of violating HB 1775, for — again, this is really all she did — telling her students about banned books and giving them a link where they could apply for a library card.

......

There are a lot of things you can say about a political movement that gets this furious about an English teacher helping her students check banned books out of the library. But you certainly can’t say it values free speech.
Sorry what was that about the books not being banned?

This doesn't address what was said. You said she wasn't suspended. That's factually untrue. Don't just start talking about other stuff. Acknowledge your mistake.
Pretty sure I said she wasn't fired. Which she wasn't, she chose to quite before the investigation finished.

As I pointed out before yeh teachers will get suspended pending investigation, would you prefer they have a few more weeks in the classroom to potentially cause harm or push things they're not supposed to while the committee decide if they have enough evidence to act so actual bad actor can and will take it as 2 more weeks to act with basically impunity before anything happens?

This doesn't address what was said either. You said it's about the school library carrying these books, and thus it impacts the school budget. That's factually untrue. Don't just start talking about other stuff. Acknowledge your mistake.
Care to explain to me how you believe school library books are not part of a schools budget again?

Part of the issue is said books are banned in school libraries or according to you in contradiction to the article that started this not banned.

Either you once again failed to read what I said or you're deliberately misrepresenting what I said by applying a context it was never said in.

So care to explain how it's factually untrue that school library books are part of the school budget if it's an actual school only library? Because unless I'm mistaken the magical money fairy doesn't cover the cost of school books for school libraries.

That's truly terrifying.
And hilarious to see you realise quite how little you really know about what you're talking about because I've seen the other side of this and had friends who had to struggle within said systems because they were at schools with lets say more strict rules that the hilarity of what's being objected to here. Welcome to the job of teaching where in the classroom you are a teacher first an a fully formed human 2nd and the 2nd part is barely allowed to exist in that classroom.

A public library, yes.
Which from my time using UK ones gave out library cards that you changed based on age so there were kids, teens and adult ones with certain books requiring adult authorisation.

Also in brick and mortar store there are still librarians to make sure little Timmy doesn't take out a manual on making home made explosives.

Yes. I do think that sending people to a list of books constitutes advertisements for the top of the list. The top 3 books on the list all contain explicit blowjob scenes.

No surprise. The right wing have made it very clear that they don't believe in reading for pleasure. Of course they would see public libraries as subversive and dangerous.
Considering the modern Left wing wing to be honest about what a book contained and pretended it was about a boys job mowing lawns, claimed a teacher got death threats because of one obvious sarcastic comment, have claimed she was fired and have a worryingly growing history of lies and dishonesty including claiming a girl wasn't raped and her father was a liar making it up. Yeh....... why did I expect anything but dishonesty to happen here constantly.
