Highly subjective, but can agree with a good chunk of them.
Haven’t watched it all yet but most of what I’ve seen is news to me.
Video Game Players Avoid Gay Characters
A study of gamer behavior finds they shy away from gay characters, regardless of their strengthswww.scientificamerican.com
Sigh. Most respondents were men (83.77 percent) and from North America (49.4 percent) and Europe (39.5 percent).
Sadly believable.A large minority, however, felt uncomfortable and that other players discriminated against them when they played as Soldier: 76 after the announcement. They got tired of homophobic slurs and constant harassment and temporarily switched to other characters to avoid it.
Many guys fetishize lesbians and usually confuse them with bisexual women. "Wow, they're so slutty, I bet they'd let me do anything to them!". Actual lesbians (who, by definition, aren't interested in having sex with men) usually become "man-hating ugly bitches that no guy wants to fuck" even though the man saying that was just trying to get into her panties. Some players reported in the survey that they felt other players see lesbians as appealing and interesting, but that the same players voice disgust toward gay men.
I was trying to think back if I have ever played or chosen not to play as a gay character, and the closest that I can think of is that I never explored any of the gay relationships in Mass Effect. I'm not big into hero shooters so I really can't imagine having such a choice to make. It's not like gay playable characters are particularly common in single player games.Video Game Players Avoid Gay Characters

I guess it depends on you consider LIara a gay character or not, since she'll bed either version of Shep(which I guess makes her canonically bisexual. Maybe?).I was trying to think back if I have ever played or chosen not to play as a gay character, and the closest that I can think of is that I never explored any of the gay relationships in Mass Effect. Anyway, while I don't particularly doubt the claims being made in the article, I think it does a pretty horrible job of describing this study. One of the guys who conducted the study wrote this piece, so I'm kinda confused why it contains so little information. I guess they would prefer if people paid to read the full study?
Isn't she in 3? I can't recall if I played femshep or not when I did Tali route.I guess it depends on you consider LIara a gay character or not, since she'll bed either version of Shep(which I guess makes her canonically bisexual. Maybe?).
Speaking of which, I wish Tali was femshep romancable. I know there's a reason for her not to be but at the same time....gimme my quarian waifu, damnit!
She is but you can only romance her as maleshep to my knowledge.Isn't she in 3? I can't recall if I played femshep or not when I did Tali route.
Call it cis hetero white male privilege if you want but I really couldn't give a flying fuck about a character's sexuality. Rarely does it add any depth to the character and I find most romance subplots (regardless of whatever combinations are on offer) cringe-as-fuck.Video Game Players Avoid Gay Characters

Fair enough in certain regards, but there are those that care for a reason. Here's a counter argument that is time stamped,if you want but I really couldn't give a flying fuck about a character's sexuality.
