I assume the same particular individuals wouldn't do it cause it would imply a failure in their watching of the vote. And no, I'd feel safer with them there cause they're out in the open and not hiding in the bushes or planting bombs in pizza places or something. Their watch can keep them occupied and away from other sorts of mischief.
You assume a lot of things, most of them wrong.

No, they're going to contest every election they lose because it's about power, even if they have a bunch of self-appointed poll watchers trying to intimidate people into only voting a certain way. The claims of voter fraud are made in bad faith. What have they done that makes you think otherwise?

And I don't believe for a nanosecond that keeping them "occupied" with fake authority is going to do anything other than show them yet another thing they can get away with doing. When are you going to stop coddling these reprobates?

But how will they know how you're voting though? Nobody has described that method. Is it just gonna be based on idpol identifiers or what?

I think you're assuming (wrongly) that the only people who wouldn't be intimidated would be republican voters, and yeah that's factually wrong. I'm in a purple state and I literally don't care at all lol.

Pretty much. If one of these fuckers wants to make some trouble, they're going to find an excuse. Especially if none of their conspiracy theories pan out.

It's about the medium we're discussing, if someone's art is unrelated to their opinions and it's just like, cooking fancy cakes or something, then sure being a fan of someone has no relation to that area of views.

Kanye, as I understand it (again, not a fan), is a rapper who has had political opinions embedded into his art for a long time such that they are inextricable from it, and to be a fan of him is to have some modicum of endorsement for said views.

So yeah, in that very specific context, being a fan of this type of art entails buying into certain views, and furthermore, this person is someone who is arrogant enough to describe himself as a genius and what have you, and people still follow him, so yeah sure, if you are gonna be his fan despite all that and believe him to be a genius, it is not a stretch to become introspective when someone you hold to such high esteem is suddenly being contrary to what you'd expect to get out of him.
I quite liked some of Kanye West's stuff, like Beatiful Dark Twisted Fantasy. Found it a bit tryhard, but overall pretty damn good. I'd disagree wholeheartedly that his beliefs are "inextricable".

Same with lots of scumbag musicians. Frank Sinatra, Morrissey, etc.

As I've said before: imagine someone goes to vote who looks like a bit of a hippy. Baggy clothes, long hair, etc. And the poll-watcher is some skinhead dude with a piece.

They will make certain assumptions about how people will vote. The people who buy into baseless conspiracy theories about widespread fraud are also the people who stereotype others on this shit. And they want those people to know they will make those assumptions.

People talking about how poll watchers aren't that big of a deal as far as intimidating goes cause they don't know how you voted are missing that the ones who will start shit are going to assume your vote based on how they think you look.

Rednecks fucking people up because they look a bit gay, the 2022 edition.

Ah god Morrissey is awful, though tbf I hate his voice and face too.
I almost included Ian Watkins in that mini list, but I kinda thought "scumbag" didn't quite cut it, and I also didn't want the comment chain to get too depressing.

Yeah, this is pretty much your response to any social concern people might be having. Though your 'not caring' always suspiciously skews toward letting right-wing nutjobs off the hook and laying the onus on people calling out shitty or threatening behaviour.
Yeah cause focusing on them is a waste of time and I want my side to actually do meaningful things when they're about to lose the midterms based on most polling. Concerns about democracy rate low in voter interest. I want my side to work on inflation and crime, as that is what voters are worried about according to the most recent polling. Also I want the opposition to waste its time chasing ghosts and I have no expectations of them to begin with so no matter what they do they can never get a reaction out of me at this point. Pointing out them being nutjobs achieves nothing since everyone who isn't one of them already knows this. People just, like me, indeed don't care.

How do they "work on crime" given that most concerns about it are imaginary?

Thinking of them as "a waste of time" and that they are just "chasing ghosts" is exactly what got America in the dire position that it's in now. Them "wasting time" got them the presidency, it got them the Supreme Court, it got them storming the fucking Capital, i.e. it got them galvanizing millions of people with conspiracy theories and propaganda. It got them banning books, threatening libraries, school boards, and teachers. Them chasing ghosts is making life actively worse for millions of people, and if that doesn't get a reaction from you then yes, it seems you indeed just don't care. Which makes one wonder why you even bother posting in these threads at all, since it always comes down to 'why do people even care, cuz I don't.'

Yeah, that guy gets to go on a list all of his own. I can only be grateful that Lost Prophets were too popular around the late 90s/early 00s for my snobbish nu-metal brain to give them the time of day. Can you imagine if you got a Lost Prophet tattoo? Someone must have! I like a good tattoo, but I think anything band-related would always be dangerous territory (except maybe Garbage).
