He also says that advertisers are leaving because of "activists", instead of his insane and erratic behavior.

I mean, seriously, he carried a sink into Twitter headquarters because he thought it was funny.
I’m kind of hoping Musk kills Twitter as an online platform and manages to if not bankrupt himself then at least seriously decrease his wealth in the process.

No, the world will not starve this winter. Basically, this guy is saying that due to the War in Ukraine, Indian and Chinese food protectionism, and US use of ethanol plus Argentina inflation, Pakistani flooding, and Brazilian incompetence; Africa, and the Middle East will starve this winter. However, while Biden is a realist, he's also pragmatic and knows the US as the hegemon will be blamed if this happens. So what will happen is that the US will do with food exports from Russia what it did with oil from Russia. Basically, it will add food, and fertilizer to products not sanctioned by the West, and allow them to sell fertilizers, and wheat onto the international market. There; the famine will be solved. Granted the problem with this is that some Ukrainian soldiers will die due to money from Russia which will buy Iranian, North Korean, and maybe Chinese weapons, but that is a price worth it as Biden likely would rather 10 thousand Ukrainian soldiers die over tens of millions of dead people in the Global South along with anti-western revolutions. Peter Zeihan is incorrect and lets his American nationalism distort his thinking and analysis. Plus Biden could still up weapon shipments to Ukraine to make it so fewer Ukrainians die.

Problem is, he could seriously decrease his wealth and not particularly notice.

"Now, anyone trying to sell a White Lives Matter shirt or use the phrase for monetary gain will be handed a cease-and-desist letter by two Black radio hosts who have filed for the trademark."

Part of the "people really can't comprehend a billion dollars" problem really. Also thousands of people's lives would be ruined before Elon would even hit the point where he'd have to move some money around to buy a yacht. Turns out letting a handful of people have all the wealth was a terrifically bad idea.

You tell me.

Some people might not grasp the context here. The guy Musk blocked is the president of MMA Global, which is in fact not a mixed-martial-arts promoter but instead a huge marketing trade association. Their members include little fly-by-night nobodies such as McDonald's, Anheiser-Busch and Nike.

Musk is a master of the "fire, ready, aim" school of consideration.

I don't really think that's a youtuber we need to take a lot of cues from. His base intelligence isn't too shabby but he's got a very flawed perspective. Whenever he talks about the left and right he somehow draws the conclusion its the left that's completely radicalized rather than the increasingly authoritarian and crazy right, and the nuance of both sides fringes not always being representative of the entire political stream seems to elude him.

There's also that whenever he talks about rising powers he tends to present them as going to be millitarely expansionist empire builders as if the current geopolitical world still works akin to the medieval one which seems a kinda...childish view of nation building.

Yeah, it turns out he was wrong, the US has not sanctioned Russian food imports or exports.

Intelligence analysts had internally raised concerns about the decision to accuse anyone caught in the streets by default of being an “anarchist extremist” specifically because “sufficient facts” were never found “to support such a characterization.”

One field operations analyst told interviewers that the charts were hastily “thrown together,” adding they “didn’t even know why some of the people were arrested.” In some cases, it was unclear whether the arrests were made by police or by one of the several federal agencies on the ground. The analysts were never provided arrest affidavits or paperwork

A footnote in the report states that “at least one witness” told investigators that dossiers had been requested on people who were “not arrested” but merely accused of threats. Another, citing emails exchanged between top intelligence officials, states dossiers were created “on persons arrested having nothing to do with homeland security or threats to officers.”

Questioned by investigators, the agency’s chief intelligence officer acknowledged fielding requests by Wolf and his acting deputy, Ken Cuccinelli, to create dossiers “against everyone participating in the Portland protest,” regardless of whether they’d been accused of any crime, the report says.

The DHS report, finalized more than a year ago, includes descriptions of orders handed down to “senior leadership” instructing them to broadly apply the label “violent antifa anarchists inspired” to Portland protesters unless they had intel showing “something different.”

Police would eventually rack up an unprecedented 6,000 documented use-of-force cases against the demonstrators

Police ran off legal observers and physically beat journalist who suffered injuries at the hands of federal agents armed with crowd control weapons as well. In response to the bad press, Justice Department lawyers filed a successful motion in court giving police the power to force reporters off the streets.

Reports began surfacing, meanwhile, of protesters being abducted near demonstrations by men jumping of unmarked in military fatigues. After widely circulated footage confirmed the accounts, DHS acknowledged the abductions, as well as the fact that agents had taken intentional steps to ensure their identities remained secret.

The report also states that dossiers were requested on multiple journalists, including Benjamin Wittes, editor-in-chief of Lawfare.
