Dang, you aren't messing around. I think the most I ever spent for a case was $80 for a 2012 build. Typically I've spent more like $40. This thing looks to be very good for air cooling.

2x 120 fans included.

Yeah, its to replace this:

The Silverstone Raven RV01, which I've owned since new, has only three fans. A pair of 200mm in the space between the drive cages and PSU bay and single 120 extractor. It has seen me through I want to say the 8800 series GPUs to the GTX1080 series. However it has proved inadequate to meet the heat output profile of the RTX3080 so I'm pressing F in the chat for my boy.

Scary that a good case still won't cool well enough for an RTX3080.

What will likely be my last build Q1 2024, I'll be looking at cost, speed but also watts. I want the thing to run relatively cool. Air cool. Can't believe how many pre-built gaming rigs have liquid cooling, which I'm advised have 2 types: those that leak now or those that leak later. I need this next build to last me a good 10 years.

Which can happen. I was stunned to see a 10 year old build I made for a bud with a car repair business still in use and functioning fine, though covered in grime in this terrible for electronics environment.

Ultimately decided on this one - not released yet, but its the sequel to the 215 that I liked the most overall and according to a guy I talked with at my local computer store, there will be a lot coming in and they'll stay pretty close to MSRP.

The timeframe works for me anyway because I just realized I really can't spend much time on messing around with my computer until I'm done using it for work.

If you want air cooling, then you're gonna need to spend on Noctua fans and use a Noctua cooler. They're about the best air coolers in the market, ditto fans.

That looks like a fine case. Word of warning, you can have some weird thermal issues if you mount the GPU sideways like that - plus it costs to get the riser cable and bracket, especially in PCIe-Gen4 - so bear that in mind.

Any thoughts on those that lie down vs. those that stand up on the CPU?

Don't have any personal experience with low profile coolers, but they generally don't perform as well as conventional standing coolers. The radiators are generally smaller, so less surface area that can radiate heat away. You can also put a second fan on a conventional cooler in a push-pull configuration to knock off an extra degree or two, while a low-profile is limited to one. The fan on a low-profile cooler is also at an sideways angle to all other fans in your system, which is generally not the best for optimal airflow. As a general rule, you want air inside the case to flow in as few directions as possible. See also Gordon's comment about thermal issues when mounting GPUs vertically.

I'll throw out that depending on what you're working with space-wise will really effect how readily you can clean the low profile coolers. My stock cpu cooler was low profile and worked very well for a long time, but whenever I wanted to clean the dust out I had to pull it out of the case, because air was blowing some dust down where it clogged against the mobo and couldn't be removed. It might be better in this radiator style, but personally I prefer tower coolers because cleaning takes moments.

That looks like a fine case. Word of warning, you can have some weird thermal issues if you mount the GPU sideways like that - plus it costs to get the riser cable and bracket, especially in PCIe-Gen4 - so bear that in mind.
Based on what I saw I don't specifically need to mount vertically, so I probably won't. I'm not exactly sure what the intended benefit of vertical mounting is, but ultimately the people who designed my current GPU did so assuming horizontal mounting so that should be the most effective system.

It mostly has its use in cases that aren't wide enough to mount a full size gpu horizontally, like slim atx or small form factor cases. You either go low-profile gpu, or you mount a full size gpu vertically. Tho some also do the latter just to show off.

Dang, decent looking pick! The outside fan mount idea is clever, and a mesh side for the PSU shroud is smart, I wish more cases did that (or maybe more do and I have no idea, haven't exactly looked in years). What colour did you get?

Once its released I'm gonna pick up the white version - just by virtue of what's common my office is mostly dark colours or outright black so I want to mix it up a bit.

I almost feel that that's how case manufacturers see it as well, considering the white version of most cases I've seen are often more expensive. Might have something to do with the paint/materials though, I dunno

Why even get a case with transparent panels if you're not going to show off?

I buy the simplest case; it has a very high probability of service! The simpler the approach, the better! For $50, that's it! And then these extra fans and accessories only create inconvenience! And there are a lot of these offers, especially on Amazon, here and there, the main thing is simplicity and convenience!

I've noticed that as well, luckily in this situation the upcharge seems minimal.

I'm not really into that fishtank aesthetic if there's no fish.

I think next time I'll just build a case from scratch. Probably in black checkplate/gripplate and enough room for ALL the fans.
Have I got a deal for you.
