A good driver accepts that the roads are filled with drivers of various skill, experience and confidence.
A good driver accepts that those drivers staying within their comfort range during unusual conditions is safer for everyone.
A good driver understands and accepts that whether you've been in an accident on public roads is more about luck than skill, as most accidents happen in traffic.
A good driver accepts that while they may be confident in their skills, everyone around them is largely unpredictable and may be panicked by something you consider ordinary.
And most importantly, a good driver knows that mechanical skills learnt on a track or course have no bearing to real world traffic conditions.
Thanks for responding exactly as we all expected tho!
Driving is more about paying attention than anything, people don't pay attention is the problem (that's not some skill, it's just doing the work). Driving too slow causes traffic to bunch up, making it more dangerous. At least drive in the right lane if you wanna go slow.
I've been in an accident that totaled my car before, t-boned right on my driver's door, didn't get a scratch or anything because I saw it coming. I check every intersection, even side streets, when I'm driving so I don't get blindsided by anything (avoided at least 3 accidents due to that alone). I can control if I cause an accident, not if others hit me, and I'm fine with that. It's why I would never ride a motorcycle.
Everyone is dumb and wrong and Phoenixmgs is a brilliant genius again? Must be exhausting.
Driving doesn't require genius, just basic competence.
