Fucking crypto’s ruined it for the foreseeable future. They can say “oh but the chip shortage” which is bs, because you can still find any CPU adhering to normal inflation values by contrast.Fuckin’ tell me about it.
BRICK FIGHT!My stupid brick is better than your stupid brick!

Reminds me of my childhood, all the local kids rushing down to the playground after school to smash bricks together.BRICK FIGHT!

I don't know if this question makes sense with the reality of the modern digital economy. How long can MS fuck around like this until it's not worth playing in the video game market anymore?
If that happens then it’s a win for Sony anyways It would also kinda prove that all the money in the world won’t buy game quality. By all rights they should’ve shut Sony out 7th gen, but they fucked up on hardware design. Sony also out of necessity doubled down on just making a bunch of outstanding games, despite architectural challenges that GabeN said developers would need to “sweat blood” to take advantage of. Strictly speaking of the gaming industry, who else could’ve stumbled before a giant and still come out on top?> Read a while back that it is Sony that needs to worry. Sony is a decent size electronics company. Microsoft is a world destroyer. It is gargantuan. It can afford to piss Sony money down stream and laugh about it. I'm sure they think Sony is really adorable.
I mean, yeah.
At me last job (IT manager and analyst), I heard myself making the case to our CIO that the organization should just completely move all operations to Microsoft services. Cloud infrastructure, development hosting, data servers, deployment management, etc. I then went home and apologized to my teenage self because we all HATED Microsoft. But it is what it is.
Video game consoles? Cute. They just added the big scary AI tech to their search engine, and just announced they're going to add it into Word and Excel. You know, the things offices still use for everything. They relatively don't care about consumers when they are dealing with businesses.
Their consoles might go of the way of their phones and tablets and music player. Oh yeah, they have those, nobody cares, so what. Make all the Zune jokes you want, they will cash in on selling, supporting, breaking, and charging to fix the world's digital data storage.
I said back in the Xbone days when they made this choice that it was a dumb thing to do because it completely invalidates the reason for Xbox existing.Yes, but that is where it seems to be headed.
Microsoft will be fine but that doesn't mean that XBOX will have a future. XBOX always had the problem that nearly everything it got was available on PC but not the other way around (because you need a whole new UI and controller support).
GamePass machine. It really is the Roku of gaming at this point, and honestly ain't nothing wrong with that.I said back in the Xbone days when they made this choice that it was a dumb thing to do because it completely invalidates the reason for Xbox existing.
A lot of people (ie casual consumers) want nothing to do with gaming PCs though either. So it would be for them, but even that only goes so far when the platform holder has yet to truly capitalize on its investment.I said back in the Xbone days when they made this choice that it was a dumb thing to do because it completely invalidates the reason for Xbox existing.
Yeah but then why are the ultra casual gamers picking playstation over xbox. Sales figures show that the games are selling on PC and playstations are outselling xboxes. So if people are buying the xbox games on pc, but not buying xboxes, that would suggest that putting the games on PC was a mistake for the xbox brand and directly hurt people wanting an xbox.A lot of people (ie casual consumers) want nothing to do with gaming PCs though either. In short, they should really just stick with what they’re proven to be good at. They don’t need their fingers in every pie.
It being the Roku of gaming ain't exactly the problem. How Microsoft has been handling it for nearly a decade, is a problem. We've already been through this so I'm not going to go through it again. DRMing and auto renewing (by default) sucks.GamePass machine. It really is the Roku of gaming at this point, and honestly ain't nothing wrong with that.
Things are changing so much. I have such a backlog I'm not interested at this time in having Gamepass/other. But, there are so many others. EA, Ubisoft, Amazon through Luna, that you can get an account and have a ton of games you can play streaming in HD over Amazon Fire devices (I assume Google Chrome sticks and Roku as well.). I think they need the Xbox to differentiate their service from others. For now. Sony has its own services but I don't think they're on par with Xbox so Xbox may be "winning" the future.Yeah but then why are the ultra casual gamers picking playstation over xbox. Bullshit, that's the entire reason they've been and are trying to buy up studios. They are trying to build an exclusive library, they are just fucking that up.So they coudn't pay developers more to get lots of exclusives.
