And most of those idiots wouldn't know how to handle it properly if they got one, and they some how would still manage to shoot or kill themselves out of pride and stupidity.
Or they did know, but they refused to do it, because they aren't sheep that follow orders.

Shit, cops don't need science-fiction electromagnetic devices to do that.

Should Kojima even bother telling them? On second thought...no. Fuck them. Kojima already discussed this and how people react on the internet back in Metal Gear Solid 2. Everyone going into their own echo chambers.
Nah. If there's anything to be said about Kojima is that he's always extremely open about the morals and messages of his games, both inside of them and when talking about them. Anyone who still misunderstands them is doing it intentionally.

I mean, basically all of his games have an extended sequence somewhere in their third act where they basically sit you down and spell out what the game you've been playing is about in a monologue.

To be fair, Kojima is also one of those creators who on one hand obviously oppose militarism philosophically, but also clearly think the aesthetics of it are pretty cool. And if there's anything rightists like it's taking the aesthethics of something and ignoring the content. It's why you find so many of them taking the propaganda in Starship Troopers (the movie) at face value and ignoring that the entire point of it comtrasting the self image of a military dictatorship with the reality of actually living in it.

Well, in fairness while the film is nominally a satire, the book it's based on wasn't, and there was all sorts of problems with getting it filmed. I can see why people take it at face value. IIRC, the sequels more or less did.

Teixeira received his access in 2021, after what should have been a thorough examination of his history. The investigation missed a number of troubling details that would give any rational judge of character pause. The Massachusetts native was suspended in 2018 after making racist threats, as well as threatening remarks about public shootings and making Molotov cocktails. The threat was serious enough that local police denied his requests in 2018 and 2019 for a firearm identification card (FID) that would allow him to purchase and own guns in the state. He was given the chance to reapply in 2020 after joining the Air National Guard and then amassed an arsenal that included handguns, rifles, shotguns, and a bazooka. He made multiple social media posts about conducting mass shootings, and how he wanted to create an “assassination van” and “cull the weak-minded.”

Despite these details and local PD denial of his FID application, the Guard granted Teixeira Top-Secret access. He searched hundreds of keywords and brought home original documents before he became nervous about being caught, and switched to taking photos. He shared the photos — and videos of him firing a rifle while shouting slurs — on his Discord server. He destroyed his electronic devices and asked his group to delete their messages before he deleted the chat server.

When viewed as a whole, the details paint a troubling picture of a young man whose fascination with weapons and violence led him to the Armed Forces where he was given Top-Secret access despite the warning signs in his recent history and who used that access to elevate himself in the eyes of the teenage and young adult gamers in his chat group. It’s a lot, and to anyone who has had a thorough background check or been interviewed as part of someone else’s review, it’s difficult to understand how the process failed so thoroughly when it came to Teixeira. Comments made by his group and high school classmates suggest Teixeira was a lonely guy desperate for his peers’ approval. CNN has details of the information shared, including details of our support of Ukraine in their defense against Russia. The documents were spread to several other Discord servers as well. Despite comments from MTG that Teixeira is “white, male, Christian, and antiwar,” it’s obvious how unsuited he was for his role.

Kojima strikes me as the video game equivalent of Garth Ennis in that regard. Though with significantly less racism and homophobia.

Yet, I've met some Kojima fans that takes everything in the Metal Gear franchise seriously and 100% unironically.

Ennis I wouldn't even put in the same category as Kojima. For all of Kojima's problems, he has humanity and there still kindness to him. I can't say the same for Wannabe Macho Man Garth Ennis. A "man" who is spiteful, hateful, and insecure about superhero comics in general. Believing the only way to live or get ahead in life is being a nhilistic asshole dressed in black trenchcoats or leather outfits, because it's "cool and not gay fashion!". Ennis lacks any humanity nor positive traits, and I'm glad most comic book writers chose not to follow his footsteps, and most people know the loser he actually is and always will be.

Why?! The military knew of his background, and still chose to keep him on board and give him classified information! As much as I hate the guy, they're even more responsible for brining him on board, despite all obvious crimson red flags! If the local PD denied him, then the Air National Guard had no business letting him in! They fucking knew his background!

Wasn't there something in the Bible about how public prayer accomplishes nothing and the only kind that counts is what you do in private?
Matthew 6:5-8

"And when you pray, you must not be like the hypocrites. For they love to stand and pray in the synagogues and at the street corners, that they may be seen by others. Truly, I say to you, they have received their reward. But when you pray, go into your room and shut the door and pray to your Father who is in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you."

Interesting what someone can learn when they read the Bible instead of just thumping it at other people.

If you want a one-way ticket to antisemitic crazytown, you should hear the bullshit evangelicals make up about how that doesn't apply to them.

Gets even funnier if they try to pull the "Jesus meant the Pharisees" card, considering there's zero documentary evidence (in the Bible or elsewhere) the Pharisees were actually the target of Yeshua's -- nor any other radical Hebrew's -- ire. The Sadducees, on the other hand, were.

Jesus also helped out the poor and sick. 🤷‍♂️
Yeshua of Nazareth was also a firebrand, radical, political activist who strongly advocated nonviolent resistance and civil disobedience against Roman occupation. But that doesn't jive, so we just ignore that while hoping people don't dig too deep into historical context and the meaning of words.

The more...shall we say, white/European nationalist...among Christians definitely would prefer people not learn the Sermon on the Mount was a deliberate, clear, call for nonviolent revolution against the Romans. My favorite example, "going the extra mile" wasn't about being a good person or doing more than what was expected, it was a call to abuse a loophole in Roman impressment law to steal legionnaires' kit, hold it ransom for their salary, and leave them facing (the historically harsh) Roman military justice for it.

Hell, evangelicals straight up fabricated the Eye of the Needle. So, Jesus says that it's easier for a camel to travel through the eye of a needle than a rich man to go to heaven. It's generally understood that he meant that literally

So enterprising pastors created the idea that the Eye of the Needle was a small door that towns would have at night when they closed the big gates, and that it was merely inconvenient for a goods-laden camel to have their rider dismount, take off the stuff, and move the stuff and the camel through the small door

Zero forts have this door. Because it's a blatant weak point in your wall/gate. This is not a thing which exists

I think you're right that the whole "Eye of the Needle" as a gate is at best a stretch, as there's no evidence archaeologically, and textually the Bible strongly suggests otherwise.

However...

a) It wasn't invented by evangelical pastors. It's much older, from the medieval era.
b) Fortifications did sometimes have small gates, e.g. "posterns". A major city like 1st century Jerusalem might plausibly have had several small gates, as there's much more demand for people to be able to get in and out of a city than there is a castle. You can also see in some remaining medieval town gates that there's the main gateway, and on one or both sides a smaller gateway often about normal doorway size. Alternatively, some large gates have a smaller doorway built into the gate doors (although I'm not sure when that originated - it might be relatively late on). An obvious point of this was a means to let the odd person in or out if the main gate needed to be closed. They're not a major weak point because it's near hopeless for attackers to try to assault a defended position through an entrance they can only get through one at a time.

The variants of "through the eye of a needle" is a period Hebrew proverb; it also shows up in the Midrash and Talmud. It just means "only by God is this possible".

The earliest reference to "eye of a needle" referring to a gate comes from Anselm by way of Thomas Aquinas' Cantea aurea, if I remember right. Specifically, a gate said to exist in Jerusalem's (supposedly) western wall. Gonna go out on a limb, and suggest this interpretation might have been inspired by a certain minor international dispute that lasted from 1095-1291.
