Someone just needs to explain to Republicans that eliminating speed limit laws means cops will have fewer opportunities to harass, imprison, and murder black people on falsified accusations without social or legal repercussion. They'll come around.
Though funny enough, I'm on their side on this one. Over-enforcing speed limits (at the cost of other, more impactful forms of policing) has just become a loophole for municipal, county, and state governments to compensate for budget shortfalls. It's little more than a backdoor regressive taxation scheme at this point. Of course that's a problem Republicans also created through starve-the-beast bullshit, but that's neither here nor there.
My opinion is to raise speed limits, but increase criminal penalties for violating them. In other words, eliminate minor instances of speeding as an infraction for which the penalty is a fine -- then cops can't ticket-whore to meet arbitrary quotas, which aren't set in accordance to safety needs but rather governmental fiscal desires.
Now, let's not smear the good name of Arius by comparing him to Tate.

Honestly, the last one just seemed like an otherwise good-faith dumb fuckup. The cop went too far in cuffing the kid and putting him in the back of the squad car, but otherwise the interaction seemed to go well enough. The cop was listening to the kid, wanted to see the bill of sale, and get the information on the actual thief, so it was clear he just wasn't just being an asshole for the sake of being an asshole -- he seemed legitimately ignorant of the difference between custody and detention when dealing with juvies. That's on that cop's trainers, not the cop.
The other instances in the video? Fuck 'em.
