Why in the name of everything would you want to ask ChatGPT for real world advice? Might as well consult your cat (at least your cat can tell rain is wet)
It gives better advice than me with my shizo brain on bad days, and it won't try to take advantage of me or double-cross me like real people do.

@Phoenixmgs, I know you've written some other bullshit and I'm not reading it. Do me a favor? Put a sock in it, and stop wasting everybody's time. Have the last word all you want.
Why don't you put a sock in, you're not interested in anyone else's opinions so I don't even understand why you post. Why even quote me if you don't care to discuss anything?

No, they aren't. Some of the bigger channels are pretty good.

Why do people in the UK keep voting for the Conservatives? It's so weird. Well, congrats there's another recession.
Because the media are overwhelmingly owned by Conservatives and their supporters, and the rich overwhelmingly tend to support the Conservatives, plus all the accursed swarm of bullshit think tanks that Conservative funders create and then get given plentiful airtime by the Conservative-owned media, and the Conservatives have also effectively managed to capture a lot of various national institutions. Plus a general ruthless pursuit of power, such that they will throw anyone and anything under the bus.

Brains are weird and very easily influenced/scared.

I talked to someone who voted for the PVV (in the Netherlands) because he feared the country would otherwise get taken over by muslims. When I told him that muslims have had the most miniscule of cultural influence in this country for as far I can remember - no protesting Christian holidays, no demanding laws be more inline with their religious teachings, no banning or burning the Bible - he responded with 'yeah I guess, but still'. And when I told him how they're just being used as a scapegoat and pointed to other moments in history where minorities were used as scapegoats, he said 'I know that, but I still feel this is going to happen'. And this is a guy who is constantly talking about books he read about the West's treatment of people from different cultures. 🤷‍♂️

So in other words, fear mongering/addled punk-ass biatch that can't think for himself and likes being fucked over without realizing it, even when it's in front of his face.

He "feels" it. That's what it really sums up to. The facts aren't really important. This probably comes under the psychological concept of "rationalisation".

Similarly in neuroscience, there is evidence to suggest that the conscious mind ain't all that. Although it can exercise command and control, in fact it may actually mostly function as a sort of observer: the subconscious mind makes many of the decisions, and the conscious mind then post-hoc attempts to apply coherent reason to those decisions.

And the funny thing is that he is aware of this contridiction. He once stated himself that feels it's worse when a muslim commits a crime than when a non-muslim/caucasian commits the same crime. And that he knows he shouldn't because it's the same crime, yet he does. So he isn't in that sense ignorant, but he refuses to actually let this sink in and try to address this. Or at the very least not vote for an openly racist political party.

Not just the US, obviously terrible people keep being voted in all over. But, yeah, weird.
And then when it goes wrong they go ''Hey! Lets vote for MORE terrible people who'll create MORE troubles'' rather than actually vote for people that might help them. After the Brexit disaster the tories doubled down and supported some inept lady that would lose to a lettuce, and now everyone in the Netherlands is grumpy about over a decade of right wing governance they somehow think they'll be more pleased with the far right.

I think that's a lot like statistics about crime actually being reduced and it usually being countered with ''But I don't FEEL like crime has dropped!''

Usually its used by the same people who insists facts don't care about your feelings.

Argh! Yes, and the "everyone is entitled to their own opinions, not their own facts" people are always coming up with new and interesting facts they make up.

Feelings over facts. Plus, like, they know the government is fucking up, so they latch on to the folks who say that the government is fucking up and needs to be changed/removed, and they haven't made the connection that the chucklefuck that they latched on to is a large reason *why* the government is fucking up

And then they realize this person they latched onto only has experience in riling up anger and fear and zero in regards to politics. Hence why they can't form a coalition here in the Netherlands due to these clowns who got voted in.

I think a key issue here is that a lot of people feel no-one will help them.

So for instance in terms of Brexit who cares if it damages the country: as far as they're concerned they've nothing more to lose so why not? They've had the centre right and the centre left, and none of them really seem to change anything, just different flavours of crap. So why not vote for someone who will threaten to break stuff? And if that party says all the horrible, mean-spirited shit some people think but feel they can't say due to societal disapproval, all the better to vote for.

I also would suggest it's because they feel that their votes don't actually matter. Which, ok, there is truth in that, but all the people who googled the effects of Brexit after the results of the vote seem to indicate they didn't think it'd matter what they did.

(Which leads me to a thought experiment, supposed a candidate runs on the platform of waging a genocidal war against another country, wins the election, but then loses the war. If the country that was attacked can work out who voted for whom, are they entitled to do anything with that information?)

Of course, talking about this sort of thing...

We're all aware of the QAnon conspiracy theories about paedophiles in positions of power and all that. And oh look at what's recently happened with the US right's favourite European:

But thankfully Orban has been able to throw two of his allies under the bus, and we'll see whether he gets away with minimal political damage.
