There's several reasons why they overturned Roe, you don't have to agree with them all. For example, the only argument (and the only one it needed) that made sense for gay marriage was like the 4th argument IIRC. You can do this probably for any decision.
And in each case, you don't give a shit if illogical arguments are made, so long as you happen to support the conclusions they reach in the end. Its about political prejudices for you-- as it is for the SCOTUS justices.

Basically, the point here is raising a family could very well beneficially stand to be changed to a conditional right, along with the rights to free speech, press and religion could/should fall under similar examination taking into account the various ethical considerations.
They've sometimes tried to ensure certain people couldn't breed. As you can imagine, it might have sounded good, but the people deciding who can and who can't breed had certain ideas...

This kinda thing makes me really consider the possibility of a simulation theory, created by some sadistic alien bastard. Or if going the spiritual/religious route, what kind of mirror God has if he’s making us in “his image”.

In any case yeah, as long as we have people for leaders then leadership will be flawed to varying degrees.

I don't think you got what I said. I said the gay marriage decision has illogical arguments in it and I never complained because there was a legit argument in there. If you're gonna complain about illogical arguments in any court decision, you'll be complaining all your life.

So instead, you pick and choose which decisions you like and don't like.

Meanwhile...

SCOTUS have agreed to hear Trump's "absolute immunity" claim for Jack Smith's electoral interference claim. However, they have agreed to hear it late April, with a ruling early-mid May at the fastest. As Trump then gets about 3 months to prep the case from the hearing it will start in August at the earliest. With an estimated 3 months to conclude the trial, there is a high likelihood it will finish after the election even at the fastest.

Pundits have argued this is likely to be a compromise between justices who had different ideas about how to handle the case, and had they really wanted to throw Trump a bone, would not have done it this way. Nevertheless, it has effectively vindicated his delaying tactics.

If the decision has a valid logical argument that makes sense, then it's agreeable. How is this picking and choosing?
Both the original Roe decision and the ruling to overturn Roe contained some logic that was fine, and some that was rationalising bunk. In one case you've solely focused on the bunk and used that to dismiss the entirety of the ruling. In the other you've done precisely the opposite.

Nevertheless, it has effectively vindicated his delaying tactics.
Delaying and hoping he gets reelected is basically the best legal tactic he has. Next one down the list is some other Republican becoming president along with Governors in any state looking to charge him with anything and being pardoned by all of them. Hoping to delay for the rest of his remaining life before it gets through the courts follows that. Then getting juries filled with red hatters who will unanimously side with Trump regardless of evidence. Then we start getting into cases where Trump loses, because if he has to go through a fair and impartial trial he is going to lose for at least most of the charges against him.

Frankly, if he does get reelected and tries to claim presidential immunity I believe the correct response it "The Court adjourns until 12:01PM on January 20, 2029."

Ok everybody calm, he got the money...some of the money...for the other case..from "The swiss". I'm told we can't refer to them as "The Nazi bank" anymore since they joined NATO.

Trump posts nearly $92M bond to appeal E. Jean Carroll defamation damages

Update:

The company that "loaned" Trump the money is called Chubb, but they are actually owned by a complicated distribution of shell companies under ACE Limited. ACE limited is publicly traded so I'm still digging around to figure out what their connection is to Trump. It is however possible that he has a silent Patron filtering money through ACE, to stay out of the limelight.

*Blah, I'm confident it's a silent patron, but can't find any clear connections between Musk and Greenberg who would have been the one to sign off on Trumps bond.

It is telling that the Money didn't come from the US. Trump is all but banned from Banks in the US.

On a sidenote I was curious about phoenix's ridiculous comment about Deutsche Bank not being hurt by Trumps cheating on his loan applications. Deutsche Bank had already banned Trump a few years back. They've canceled all dealing with him and as of now he's just paying off his remaining loans.

Technically, I think he's claiming a sort "If the president does it's legal" immunity - so in other words it falls under the appropriate duties of his job to overturn Biden's election if he believes it was unfair - even if by setting a mob on Congress, fake electors etc. - and this cannot be prosecuted.

He might get a stay on any non-concluded case were he re-elected for the duration of his second term. This might matter for the Georgia case. For the two federal cases, if they are not concluded by the time he enters office he will order the DoJ to shut them down. And he slightest whiff that they might be reinstated at the end of his term of office, he'll resign on 19th Jan 2024, the VP will step up for the next 24h and pardon him.

There might be nothing unusual about this at all. It might be as simple as that Chubb have demanded some VERY extensive collateral.

DB clearly was hurt, because they missed out on profits.

However, you can also argue that it was DB's responsibility to do a sense check of Trump's numbers. Indeed they did do this and adjusted the terms of their loan accordingly, it's just even applying that correction they still overestimated his assets substantially. Nevertheless, it can be claimed that was their responsibility and fault.

DB is probably not going to enter a court and say it thought it was diddled, though. Firstly, it might genuinely have been okay with the loan it made. Secondly, it's just embarrassing for DB to admit it was hoodwinked or didn't get its sums right, and it's not like the bank is going to get anything unless it's getting the money. Thirdly, everyone can see the polls and that Trump has a very good chance of being the next president. What major bank is going to upset the next president of the USA - with risk of reprisals - when it doesn't have to?

Allegedly, DB decided to stop doing business with Trump long ago, but for some reason that remains very murky, one of their high-ups in the NY office decided to ignore the memo. Allegedly, there was a lot of unhappiness in DB HQ about it, but once they found out, they couldn't take it back.

Could be, but...................... he did meet a lot of donors this week.

I think that's the other issue, is that they testified that they fucked up. It didn't help trumps case, but it also (I assume) took him off the hook for any suit from them. It sounds like they just took the hit and walked away from him.

This is completely anecdotal, but I can't but wonder if Jan 6th was just an excuse to cut him off and also be on the right side of history in the world view. No idea if they still loaning him more money. That kind of disclosure isn't free.

Ok Reddit is on the case already

Trump named the CEO Chubb Evan Greenberg to a whitehouse advisory board

They are also saying Elon Musk dealt with Chubb on some construction projects and likely facilitated the meeting *source unverified

So we can probably guess that a favor was called and juice provided to seal it. Won't know until someone get a disclosure pushed through.

From what I understand New York has already stated hes not allowed to get the money through any New York entity and they will be scrutinizing any source of his bonds.
