I saw a compilation of all the ridiculously shit lines he had in the Bay movies. What a waste of his time.
Transformers Prime wasn't exactly a good use of his limited remaining hours on this green Earth either. Problem is, they keep trying to give him epic speeches - which Cullen can do really well - but they never make them sound natural. Even a couple in Rise of the Beasts - which I fuckin' LOVE - are a bit awkward.

Transformers Devastation gave Peter Cullen and everyone great lines and some of the best speeches. How is that a mid-low budget video game, that canonically takes before the original 1986 Transformers Movie, has a better thought process for the lines and writing? Even the War & Fall of Cybertron games have better dialogue than the Prime or a majority of the live-action movies.

The only one I can really think of is Bruce Campbell as Ashley Williams. And maybe Jeff Donovan as Michael Weston in Burn Notice.

The boring one
Alas, Leslie Nielsen will always have been Frank Drebin (unless he's the Airplane doctor), and William Jackson Harper will always be Chidi Anagonye (this did deflate quite a bit of Midsommar's tension).

Of course, Eli Wallach can't cease to be Tuco Benedicto Pacífico Juan María Ramírez, Gian Maria Volonte the Indio, Rod Steiger Juan Miranda, Claudia Cardinale Jill and James Woods Max whereas at least Van Cleef oscillates between Mortimer and Sentenza.

Dominic West is stuck as McNulty, just like Walton Goggins is forever Shane. Actually, Matthew Rhys and Keri Russel will stay Jennings for a while. I'm slowly managing to detach David Tennant from The Doctor (not quite there yet).

Peter Dinklage is above all Living in Oblivion's Tito (despite The Station Agent). Geena Davis is The Long Kiss Goodnight's Samantha Caine even more than Thelma. Susan Sarandon is a witch from Eastwick more than Louise. Jeff Goldblum is a brundlefly above all. Both Elisabeth McGovern and Jennifer Connelly stay Deborah, and both Mel Gibson and Tom Hardy are Rockatansky (without the mask, I suppose Hardy would have been Bane instead).

Elliot Gould is Marlowe. Jonathan Pryce is Sam Lowry. Jeremy Irons is Elliot Mantle. Sam Shepard is Chuck Yeager. Ron Perlman is One. Jeremy Irons is Beverly Mantle. Ingrid Bergman is mostly Ilsa Lund, Walther Matthau is the Captain Red, Ferdy Mayne is Von Krolock even in Where Eagles Dare, Johnny Depp is so Corso, and Harvey Keitel stays the Wolf. David Niven is The Brain. McGoohan is of course forever 6 and/or Drake (the same thing in my headcanon even if not in his). Rickman is Alexander Dane (and probably lives it as Dane lives being Lazarus), and also my most geeky apologies to sir Alec Guiness because, well, you know.

As I haven't yet watched that Tony Hillerman adaptation, Wes Study is the guy from Mystery Men (Ben Stiller too, in fact). Piper Perabo is the girl from Lost and Delirious. Michael Madsen is the dude from Reservoir Dogs. Naomi Watts is the girl from Mulholland Drive. Nicolas Cage is the dude from Kiss of the Vampire. Angelina Jolie is the (well one) girl from Girl Interrupted, and so is Clea DuVall actually. Jon Voight is the dude from Runaway Train despite Deliverance. Peter O'Toole is The Stunt Man's Eli Cross despite Lawrence of Arabia. Christopher Walken is Max Zorin despite Deer Hunter. Mickey Rourke is Harry Angel despite Year of the Dragon. Scott Glenn is Mancuso despite the Keep. Guy Pearce is Ed Exley despite Ravenous. Carlyle is the creepy supporter from Cracker despite Ravenous. Jeffrey Jones is the Guy from Ravenous despite Beetlejuice. Also Steven Segal is solely the guy being hilariously flushed out in Executive Action. As for JCVD, well, he's JCVD.

Speaking of Bane... I have, uh, bad news for Marion Cotillard... 😬

written by former child star Mara Wilson. Something I noticed after reading it was that all the examples were Americans, and I thought that the Brit Christian Bale and the Harry Potter actors turned out fine, so I wondered if there is a difference in culture.
I suspect it's mostly about the parents. Good parents probably protect their child, keep them grounded and aware. Bad ones are most likely exploiting their kids for money and vicarious fame, leaving them vulnerable to malign influences.

There may then also be a cultural element, in that there could be something about Hollywood that treats its stars like princes and princesses and overindulges them, which may be particularly ruinous for children. Whereas everywhere else, where there is much less glamour, it may be more like a regular job.

Yeah, its one thing to say Martin Shaw is recognisable. And he is, if you watch enough British television. But compared to say, Robert Downey Jr. or Scarlet Johansson? Totally different ballgame.

It also seems hat working conditions are just worse in the US, which could include stuff like that.

Not saying your overall point is wrong, but Shaw is mostly TV actor, the latter are big budget movie actors.

He was in some movies, notably The Golden Voyage of Sinbad, but that was 50 years ago.

It’s not quite the distinction it used to be, but I understand what you’re saying.

I am wholly unfamiliar with Anthony Starr’s resume having only been introduced to him as Homelander in The Boys recently, but given the trauma he’s put me through in that role, even having only started season 3 yesterday, I imagine I’ll find it hard not to hate/fear him on sight in anything else. Even if he guest starred on Sesame Street or some other innocuous, warm-hearted show, my main thought would be “…He’s gonna kill somebody by the end of the show, and he will give ZERO fucks when he does it.” Doesn’t help that he’s seen multiple times throughout The Boys giving interviews and whatnot with his signature, deceptive casualness reigning in a raging psychopath; it only enforces my belief that “Anthony Starr” is simply a very real Homelander’s secret identity.

Sorry, Anthony Starr (if that’s your real name,) but you scare me very deeply.
