15 minutes! 15 goddamn minutes wasted!!!
I won’t try to change your mind lol but it shouldn’t take that long. Like, half of that to kill them is even pushing it. I’m playing in NG+ but I’ll double check the time with a couple different weapons the next one I find. Apparently alternating feet after each mini stun makes it go even quicker which I for sure haven’t been doing so far.

Ok, let me ask you, what's an ideal weapon for taking down the Golems? My Fang is currently my hardest hitter (meaning of all my maxed weapons, it does the most damage,) but not particularly fast. I burned up a rune arc to get the Faith stats for Pest Threads which I heard is a viable strategy, but I just didn't see it working well enough before I died; I wanted to try again, but I'm down to 10 rune arcs, and I'm not about to waste them on this fucking thing.

I've got a suitcase full of weapons I either can't use (stats) or haven't used (none have felt better than the Fang, and I don't want to waste smithing stones or the time to farm runes to get said smithing stones.) If you, oh Lord God and wise sage of all things Elden Ring, can point me to a weapon you think is Ideal, I might invest in leveling it up and *dry heave* try fighting this Golem again. *puking in my mouth a little*

I’ve used backhand blades, a light greatsword, and maybe a great hammer on them and on Torrent it didn’t seem to matter much. General took about the same time since smaller weapons do less damage but hit more often, and vice versa with the unga bunga ones. Kinda curious about either the pest threads/spears at a decent faith level along with some talismans that support it, or for magic the carian slicer which Fextra says has one of the highest dps outputs in the game, and really low FP usage. Shard spiral is another spell that apparently can keep golems in a stunlock because it digs into anything it touches. Not sure what level will get those results though.

Without respec’ing myself I might try out the dry leaf martial arts weapon on foot for the hell of it as I’ve been wanting to use them anyways for a while now, but only have the fist one so far.

Looking forward to but not watching much of it until I finish it myself.

I did it! I finally fucking did it! I beat the second Furnace Golem!

I know I said I'd never try again, but I noticed something while exploring elsewhere. There's sometimes some lag between when I press jump and when Torrent actually jumps. I thought maybe that's why I was getting caught in the stomps as often as I was. I tried again, this time pressing jump about a quarter to a half second sooner than I had been, and it fucking worked. Still, between healing myself and reviving Torrent, only had ONE flask left when I beat him, so not saying it was easy, but it's done. Now the question will be: will I try another one?

I haven’t played the DLC on console yet but wonder if those things cause some framerate issues with their size or all the fire effects and whatnot. I occasionally notice it on PC but that port has its own typical FROM performance idiosyncrasies. Anyways, good to hear you’re figuring them out. I didn't even bother with them until I had most of the map uncovered and died quite a bit to the one on a river until dialing in the jump timing. Then it gets to be pretty much a cakewalk running circles around the big dummies.

"The one on the river" (near the Path to Cerulean) is the one I've been talking about. He spouts tracking fireballs from his head whenever you're far away. If you're talking about the same one, I'm glad to hear he gave an expert similar heartache.

Yeah and it was here I learned to stick close to them because of that shit lol.

I will always think fondly of the Blasphemous Blade and its exquisite Taker’s Flames.

Aside from it being another Tulok video, I timestamped this one at the point he poses a REALLY great idea: given how Spirit Ashes and summons are a HUGE mechanic in Elden Ring (y'know, for we plebs and casuals who need the help,) what if FROM's next venture was a full-party RPG like Mass Effect or something similar?? That'd be an incredible experience I think FROM could absolutely nail!!

Would be neat to expand upon it somehow, but tough to think of them abandoning the whole *one lone nobody persevering to take down a big somebody* lol.

Yeah, but think about how great it could be if Miyazaki would pull his head out of that thematic asshole. I've honestly loved all the games, but with Elden Ring being the proverbial "money shot" of FROM's *one lone nobody persevering to take down a big somebody* schtick, I think it would behoove them to try something different. I think a party RPG is well enough within their wheelhouse (as Tulok points, Spirit Ashes are proof of concept,) that they could branch out even within their comfy worlds of doom and gloom.

Just saying, somebody give Miyazaki a hug, throw him a pizza party, take him bowling with a group of people; show him that it's fun to have friends, and maybe he'll explore that theme... in a world that's all but completely destroyed save for a few, powerful beings vying for power and godhood.

They would also really need to work on AI if these games were still to be playable offline. Maybe a compromise would be soloing it when exploring but being able to round up a party for boss fights or something. There is a risk of going toar with it though.

It reminds me of this video that was made for RDR2 but I think it could apply to FROM games too, especially ER where enemy encounters can often be avoided completely -

This comment kinda sums up the value of solitude - even in a virtual space - when often IRL there is very little of it left -

Ok, so I picked up the Milady Light Greatsword. I've heard a lot of people raving about it as one of the better weapons to come out of the DLC, but vanilla, it doesn't seem that exceptional. I got it to +24 (reticent to spend an Ancient Dragon Smithing Stone on it yet,) and it's... meh? What Ashes of War or whatever do I need to put on it to make it the "wow" everybody's talking about? Yes, I've looked online, and have seen differing opinions, but I can actually engage and converse here with people whose opinions I trust; you lot should count yourselves lucky...
