It looks interesting, and I've never played the original, but I can't bring myself to pay $70 for games anymore. Maybe when it goes on sale for $40 or so.
Nothing wrong with that. I'm using a coupon and some store credit to lessen the price on my end.

On the subject of 'how much I'm paying for it': I've talked to a couple of people in my real life about it, so with any luck I'll end up getting it for Christmas. And if not, I'll get it during the Christmas sale period.

In my restless dreams, I see that trailer (again?)-

What’s odd is this was posted 7 hours ago on Playstation’s page, yet Konami posted it 4 days ago. One of two things happened: Either PlayStation dropped the ball or Konami posted it too early.

If more remakes are inevitable, then I’ll be the oddball and say I hope the next is SH4, because I think it could best benefit from some modern tweaking of mechanics and visuals. The theme and story are solid as they are though.

Gotta say, Silent Hill 2 Remake is doing alright by me so far. I've been making my way through the appartment building, and it's actually legitimately scary. Granted the foundation was already laid more than two decades ago, but still... (y) Don't know if this was done deliberately or if it's just the soundmix clipping, but it seems like you can actually hear monsters behind closed doors, and it seriously helps in crafting an uneasy mood.

Whodda thunk I would ever again praise something coming from Konami?

That was intended. To the point that they can open doors, if you attract enough attention or they spot you when you go back into/outside the door.

Don't know how much enemies will end up frustrating me later on though. I feel like that might be on the horizon, because just two Lying Figures in a hallway is already enough for me start despairing. Those health drinks are worth their weight in gold in this remake.

I am in the other world now at Bluecreek Apartments. The rusts looks highly detailed and already creepy. I love it.

So it seems there's a thing going on with this game where it'll highlight places or spots from the original. I noticed two myself and saw another one in a clip on youtube. The first is the wooden barrier where you get the plank of wood in the original, and the other I found was in the Woodside Apartments on a wall where I think the Henry/Mildred/Scott clue was originally written. It doesn't do anything so far other than pluck OG fans' nostalgia snare though.

Got to 'that Pyramid Head scene', and thankfully nothing about it was outright bad. I will be a bit nitpicky though; I think that initial twitchy contortion is dailed up too much, and I'd rather he not be mo-capped at all. Pyramid Head isn't human or a man, he's a freaky monster, and in the original I feel it was deliberate that they keyframed his movement rather than mo-cap it to emphasize his inhuman-ness. I wish the remake had stuck with that.

Other than that the game is doing a very good job still. I met Eddie, I think his actor is doing a pretty good job, still probably prefer the original voice, but that's nostalgia for ya. The nightmare world looks great so far. It's overall very promising that I'm significantly hestitant to returning to the game in between sessions due to heebie jeebies.

And I'm looking forward returning to our nightmare overlords. Gotta have that nightly nightmare fuel.

By the way, the interactable prompts need to get patched, because they can be a little screwy.

So, I think the inventory screen is actually displaying THE spoiler of the game. It's distorted and zoomed in, but that looks like the videotape footage.

Speaking of spoilers, I've been keeping up with the thread so far but I might have to dip out. Y'all keep doing what you've been doing of course, don't not post on my account, I'll just see myself out until I've gotten the game.

I've gotten to what I think will be the end of the appartment complex section of the game, and somethings have reared up that I'm not too keen on. How the game handles its enemies is starting to annoy me. The telegraphing is getting very obvious; do a thing or pick up a thing of significance and they'll appear in the room with you. How spikier Lying Figures spray acid on death is also annoying, because it means you have to wait for the acid puddle to clear up so as not to get burns. It only takes a couple of seconds, but this happens with a lot of them.

The nightmare world overall feels like a letdown. It's just so eager to go 'oogie boogie' through its sound design. Again, progress in a significant way and the game will go 'BWAAARGH', even having Pyramid Head stomping and scraping his blade somewhere in the complex Iike he's Mr. X. But he isn't Mr. X, and the game treating him with this much reverence, like he's this force to be reckoned with, goes against what this character is about.

The appartments were far scarier pre-nightmare when it let the atmosphere quietly get under your skin, and it didn't bombard you with loud scare noises and enemies.

Also, the scene between Angela and James in the mirror room just kinda fell flat on its face. It's pretty much word-for-word the original dialoge, but again the voice actors mumble through it with no cadence at all. There's also some cringey camera work with Angela's face getting reflected in her knife, and the shot pivoting to a dutch angle when she talks about being afraid of what she'll do if she keeps the knife. *sigh*

Speak for yourself and your nostalgia goggles, but the actors nailed it. Nothing felt mumbled or hollow.

Like most survival horror games when you pick up an important item?

I usually two shot the things with bullets then go in for a quick melee and back away with they fall face upward. They are annoying though.
