Call of Duty is apparently selling sound for $20

Does this not sort of constitute Pay 2 Win? I don't play much CoD, but what little I do know is that listening to other player's footsteps is very vital, to the point where there is a perk that silences them, which is usually considered one of the most powerful perks in any game it appears.

Surely selling something to "increase the directional accuracy of sounds" is bordering into this territory?

Also, this apparently only lasts for 5 years before you presumably need to buy this again, and im not hopeful that this will transfer into whatever next year's CoD game will be.

This is assuming COD had a great audio quality to begin with, which I'm sure isn't the case. And I swear none of the COD players ever pay attention to audio queues because everyone is running around in their trigger-happy state. I willing to bet no one is actually gonna pay for this because either they don't want to support the idea or they simply don't care.

The ones that do buy it probably won't be able to tell the difference, and only convince themselves they are amazing or this changes the game drastically.

Oh and let's not forget those COD shill content creators who will do everything in their power to promote this as some sort of godsend. "THIS AUDIO UPGRADE IS AMAZING!", "Watch mE get 120 kILL sTREak with thE NEW soUNd upGRADE!", etc

So Killer 7 on PC got an update that improves controller support, fixes some old and new bugs... and also replaces the textures and the FMV cutscenes with AI-upscaled versions that, according to a review bombing campaign, look terrible. I haven't played the game myself since the update to check, but you'd think that with all the reactions to AI upscaling in previous games like the GTA Definitive Trilogy, Engine Software (the people behind the PC port) would've known better...
