Fermi's paradox aside, I often wonder if aliens would even want to visit us. Then the internet reminds why the answer is a resounding and obvious "no."
In 1974, performance artist Marina Abramović gave a performance wherein she laid 72 objects on a table, and stood passively still for 6 hours allowing the audience to literally do whatever they wanted to her, without consequence, using the objects on the table. And because people are at their core terrible animals, of course she was subjected to increasing forms of abuse during this time. One man even pointed a loaded gun (yes, a loaded gun was one of the 72 objects) at her head, and in likely the only act to defy the true human nature on display, another man took the gun away from the first. What. The. FUCK???
How do you not notice that? Like even if he was in a part of the building people don't normally go, surely the cleaning staff would have started to notice the smell?
