The thing about libertarians is that they are not just individualists, they overwhelmingly tend to be egoists. This means they can be extraordinarily fuzzy on problems that restrict and harm other people. So, child porn might at some moral level be bad, but at a practical level if it's not making their personal life worse, then shrugs all round. If it really is a gift to Libertarians, it makes sense. Behind all that "freedom, small state, no red tape" rhetoric were always quite a number of people who mostly had issues with particular restrictions like e.g. age of consent. It is not a majority but it is enough that Libertarian projects and communities get into related scandals or internal quarrels about it time and time again.
