1TB SD Cards cost about $300 if you want one from a reputable brand. BluRays might be glorified CD keys these days but optical discs are still cheaper by many magnitudes than solid state storage. At this point, if games are going to be so large, we may as well go back to cartridges instead of relying on limited Console/PC Storage. The largest you could have on a mini SD is around 2 TB, so I don't see why not? SD Card printer companies missing out on serious cash.
Not as bad as your example, but I've recently seen a game that I would consider near the low points of translation that I've seen. I would say that about 1/4 of the dialogue in No Sleep for Kaname Date, is direct translations of Japanese word puns, idioms, or cultural associations, and it just makes no sense in English.Other than the usual suspects where the resulting script is actively incomprehensible, the worst translation from Japanese to English of a game I've ever seen is in the Yakuza/Like a Dragon games after the old translators were swapped out for a new group starting with Yakuza 0.
I understand using Japanese honorifics in English if you want to be as accurate as possible. I don't like or respect it, but I understand it. What I don't understand, however, is whoever on the translation team turned Kiryu's address of Majima: 間島の兄さん ("Majima-no-niisan") into "Majima-san", not only using Japanese words that aren't used in English, but also not even using the actual honorific. So you're sacrificing meaning for accuracy, and then immediately sacrificing accuracy for no goddamn reason at all. Why? Just why?
I will also die on the hill that "Kazzy" is a superior translation of 桐生ちゃん ("Kiryu-chan") than "Kiryu-chan" is, but at least that isn't actively offensive to me.
I don't think that people know what bad voice acting is anymore. After playing the full game, the English Dub voice acting being of "dull surprises" is the biggest load of shit criticism I've heard for Lost Soul Aside. There are some bad line takes early on (mainly on Kaser's end) in the prolouge, but after that, it's clear a lot of these people can act. It was just some bad line delivery or voice inflection that rarely ever shows up. Everyone in the main cast did their part good or fine. With Arena's English Dub actor being the best of the cast. I swear, some people were that disappointed with overly high expectations or a hate boner for this game, they were looking for any excuse to criticize it.
I don't think that people know what bad voice acting is anymore.
I wouldn't mind a new Sonic the Fighters game. I wouldn't call myself "over fighting games", but I always take long breaks or only continue when it's a character I really want to play and care about. We need a sequel to Sonic the Fighters. Use the VF5 engine and the current Sonic cast, give us another 3D fighter with wacky attacks and crazy movement, maybe even bring that squash-and-stretch animation the original had back (I think it could still work with the modern designs, or just make them all low-poly as a throwback / to save money). Throw in a few modern modes like a better arcade mode and online support... I dunno about anyone else but I'd actually play that, and I'm kinda over fighting games for the most part.
Same. Looking forward to First Light as well. Honestly, most of the Internet is looking forward to this game, so it's not much of a hot take.I'm looking forward to the new James Bond game that's coming out. I haven't played one since Quantum of Solace on the 360. And that game came out in 2008, nearly twenty fucking years ago and the last one, 007 Legends was in 2012. No James Bond games for over a decade, what the fuck is that?
Quantum of Solace was surprisingly solid. And I have very fond memories of Nightfire.Same. Looking forward to First Light as well. Honestly, most of the Internet is looking forward to this game, so it's not much of a hot take.
BTW, I have not touched a James Bond game since the PS2 days.
Modern Warfare 3's (2011) Survival Mode I find much more fun, addictive, and re-playable than any of the Nazi Zombie modes.
Except it kind of does for the majority of people. Yes, I can play the original, but if I really like it I want other people to play it too, but they'll just play this completely other game that's wearing its skin and think it's the same thing. In addition, if the remake is really that bad to you...this isn't a time travel scenario or something where the existence of the remake makes the original no longer exist. You can just...not play the remake and instead play the original.
That's their problem if they can't realize the original exists.Except it kind of does for the majority of people. Yes, I can play the original, but if I really like it I want other people to play it too, but they'll just play this completely other game that's wearing its skin and think it's the same thing.
Silent Hill 2 still begs to differ on that one though. In addition, if the remake is really that bad to you...this isn't a time travel scenario or something where the existence of the remake makes the original no longer exist. You can just...not play the remake and instead play the original.
