Not surprising, considering he was promoting Arc Raiders.
Why? Arc Raiders is a good game, but why believe so hard in a multiplayer game with AI voice acting?

Oh wow, I didn't realize they had a category for Best Gaming Hardware! Much better than TGA's Content Creator of the Year award

Dont forget best e-sports team nobodies ever heard of, or even better best e-sports coach that people DEFINITELY have never heard of.
To be fair, I have heard of some of those E sports team. And they are still relate to gaming at a competitive level. I know it takes insane amount of work to be where they are.

Esports coaches? I can see why they want to make a category for that as well, as coaches rarely gets the same amount of recognition as the start players.

But content creator of the year category is where I have to draw the line. Because they don’t necessarily have to play games, but as long as they’re famous for their takes and personality, they are eligible. I mean FFS i picked penguinz0 out of the nominees this year, because he seem to be most involved in gaming out of the rest, and gaming isn’t his main content.

I think the game awards should be solely about games, not the people who play them. Playing video games is ultimately meaningless, it's like winning award for best food reviewer when the review doesn't cook or assemble or do jack shit but eat.

The CEO of Roblox has a problem: He's fucking insane.

When asked what he thinks of "the problem of predators on Roblox," Baszucki replies, "We think of it not necessarily just as a problem, but an opportunity as well. How do we allow young people to build, communicate and hang out together? How do we build the future of communication at the same time?"
No adult should ever say "high five" to another adult unless they are actively high-fiving.

I have a feeling this asshole secretly a diddler too. Why go this far to protect child predators? Money aside. It's not worth much to any actual rational human being. Not some fuckwad who lives in his own little reality separate from actual life.

The Swedish Games Industry has produced their yearly report.

The industry seems to be going through rough times, and I think this can be gathered from the intro that chooses to focus on the overall story of the last 20 years instead of the history of the last few ones. Only one paragraph is dedicated to the last year.

Per Strömbäck said:
This report is based on annual reports for 2024. It was a year with many negative headlines about layoffs and closures. Swedish game companies are not immune to economic cycles and rising interest rates. Those in need of capital face the challenge that investors are looking for profitability rather than growth, and do not have the same appetite for risk as they did just a few years ago. Despite this, revenue grew in 2024. Many companies performed well, even if this is not always reflected in the headlines
My thoughts are that the most valuable piece of data is the actual numbers they produce, i.e. revenue, employment numbers and so on, which is viewable on page 67 though explained more in-depth in the prior pages. It should also be noted that while the text of the report focusses on the current year of 2025 the numbers only reflect up until 2024.

While I find it notable that sales has decreased, both locally and globally, the fact of the matter is that those numbers can fluctuate a lot depending on if a particular big seller was released a given year. Therefore I hesitate to draw any conclusion, but it is bit worrisome that the global sales decreased from the previous year. The one number that shows a persistent trend that appears to be broken with this latest year is the Number of Employees. It used to be strong growth each year, this year it was just a slight growth of 0,5 %, which is small enough that I'd be hard pressed to call it growth in any meaningful sense. This is consistent with reports of employees being let go and my encounter with someone from the Swedish Public Employment Service at the start of the year that claimed a lot of the people let go from games projects had ended up in AI.

I found it curious that the number of companies has continued to increase but as the report states:
The report; page 41 said:
In 2023, there were 5,900 game development companies within the EU. Sweden topped the list with 1,010 companies, followed by Germany (861 companies) and the Netherlands (530 companies). Sweden was ranked third in terms of number of employees, behind the much more populous countries Germany and Spain.
which makes me think Sweden might just be an odd duck in the world stage; maybe starting a studio is the equivalent to starting a garage band and not really something that ever is meant to be commercially viable primarily? If it is, then... honestly, that sounds healthy for both the developers and the industry as a whole. More titles come out and more developers get experience under their belt. The reports also state that there are studios that currently aren't develping titles but still exist because it is more economically viable than de-listing, so that number could indicate that there are more people than ever wanting to create games, and nothing more.

Finally, the report highlights some releases this year. It felt like the titles were mostly more-of-the-same (Tarsier making a game much like Little Nightmares after having developed it previously, for instance) which is hard to write anything interesting about. I found it a bit notable that of the five games nominated at the game awards for best multiplayer, four(Battlefield 6, ARC Raiders, Split Fiction and PEAK) were Swedish, until I looked closer and realized one of them(PEAK) was merely published by a Swedish studio. Jump Space, a multiplayer game, and Helldivers 2's awards, and the upcoming multiplayer Exoborne were also highlighted in the report. Maybe this was the year of multiplayer games for the country of Sweden? Either that, or multiplayer games are more financially successful when successful and the report's authors focusses more on those aspects.

Also: this report focusses on one country. Me highlighting it is not a suggestion that that country is more important or notable than any other, it merely reflects that I am curious of what goes on in the industry and what official representatives are saying.

Tides of Annihilation looks terrible. I mean it is flashy and cool, but the fight they show cased kept stopping for cutscenes and transitions which would drive me crazy in trying to play through a fight. Also all the damage was from the cinematic scenes so like....what do you actually do in the game?

That's a tutorial/early boss stage that teaches you the mechanics from what I heard. I admit the two trailers from earlier this year back in February are better for representing the gameplay, but I am still excited. I wouldn't judge the game as automatic bad, because of one trailer not being as good as the first two, but still good on its own. It's called wait and see before judging too much.

The dominoes are lined up, and it’d be somewhat ironic if that’s what tipped the scale towards the next big industry crash.

It'll be a video game crash for Microsoft at least. I dunno about the whole industry,.
In the second article of my post, there is this line:
The new claims come from a new video by tech YouTuber and leaker Moore’s Law Is Dead, who says he has spoken with multiple contacts at memory makers, retailers, and partners. The video focuses on OpenAI‘s huge long-term memory deals with Samsung and SK hynix that could lock in up to around 900,000 DRAM wafers a month, which some estimates say could be close to 40% of the world’s total DRAM output once it is fully ramped.
Okay, assuming the leaks are "true", MS has pretty much been hoarding RAMs to power their OpenAI. Kinda like scalpers except on a industry budget and not selling at higher price. To my knowledge, MS is the only one in the tech industry that is diving into both AI development and "gaming" hardware market.

And because of this, there is potential for RAM shortages for everyone, including their own consoles' development.

So there is potential that MS really might screw over everyone, and themselves.
