I caught a bit of a cold last weekend, didn't feel particularly ill, but very obvious sneezing, runny nose, hard to breath etc for a couple of days.

Cue all the man flu jokes from my my partner. I wasn't complaining, expecting looking after, taking time off work, anything like that, but on they came.

Come today, and she's got it now. Sitting on the sofa with real grump on.

If you never hear from me again, you'll know I couldn't resist the temptation.
Your sacrifice will be remembered in the coming empire

The 2026 Formula 1 season kicked off last night in Australia, so I looked through my entire cable guide, through all of ESPNs where I've typically watched all these years, and couldn't find it. I finally Googled "where to watch F1 tonight," only to discover that all F1 events are now exclusive to Apple TV+ in the US... until 2032.
This is absolutely, completely and totally bullshit. An entire international sport relegated to a single streaming platform? Why the fuck would they do this?!? Like who thought this was a good idea??? I called bullshit when the NFL sold Thursday Night Football to Amazon Prime, but that was ONE game a week, not the entire fucking NFL!!
Everyone was so excited that F1 was getting more traction in the US; I can't imagine how many viewers they're going to lose with this move. I'd argue most US fans of F1 are casual ones who won't bother signing up for another streaming service like my dumb ass did just to continue watching.

I am so livid right now.

Been going to the same church for 3 years; Overall, it has been an great experience.

But recently, we had someone new coming in. We tried to be welcoming, convice him to go through the same initiaion process as any one who wants to join our church; It's basically having small talks, talking about themselves, how they came to believe in Jesus, or how they came to this church, etc. You know, very friendly stuff. We do this on how and where the new member will best fit in small groups and teams in the church.

The dude rejected every time we asked him, and instead kept rambling on about how much his life sucks, how his wife left him, his family cut contacts with him, he doesn't have any place to live, what life goals he has, how he owns 6 properties and 2 start-up companies but "don't know" what to do with them, and keeping asking us to pray.

Which we don't mind at all, but we also want him to join our church officially so we can help him discover other resources he can utilize.

The dude didn't want to join our church, or stay for the sunday service. He has been dropping in unnanouced to the short prayer meeting before the service, and every week, he has repeated the same phrase that I mentioned above, and basically used us as a trauma dump.

Not to mention, when we first met him, he asked for all of our numbers which we all did because all he wanted was for us to pray with him on the phone. The dude would call any one of us randomly through the weekdays, and have us on the phone for more than 30 min sometimes over an hour, just for him to complain to us before actually praying together.

Then this past Suday, he actually yelled at the prayer group leader in front of the pastor. All she did was carefully suggest to join our church officially if he wants to keep being part of the prayer team. He said to her, and I quote, "backstabbing anti Christian, that I'm being offensive, discriminating him and destroying him" (her words). I was on the other side of a large hall and saw that he was frantically talking, but didn't understand what was said until now.

He yelled at her pretty bad and left, and she told me she was crying outsidee before coming in.

We have warned the leadership figures at the church about this guy. They wanted everyone to try to help him, but he keeps rejecting the help we can give him. I have also been carefully suggesting to restrict his access on which part of the building he can go, or quite possibly outright tresspass him. They did not want to go there.

But this time, many of the leaderships saw how he was yelling like that, so I am hoping they finally realize how serious this is becoming and more action will be done.

Also, we are moving to another room/place for the prayer meeting, and I also suggested have the men in the group escort her to the worship hall.
The person has real problems and needs actual, tangible help not people around him saying 'magic words' for him.

Well there has been some update to this:
  • He is no longer allowed into the building. We are actually renting out this place with another church, and the leadership of our church determined he is dangerous to be around for anyone. He will be asked to leave the next time he tries to come in, and if he doesn't the police will be called.
  • The room that we usually gather at has been changed; Now we are meeting up in the space that is in the inner part of the building.
  • The girl who was yelled at has been recovering well! I've been sending her positive, empowering, and supportive messages and she appreciates them. However, she'll take a few weeks off coming in until we know she's safe
  • Once she gets back, everyone will move in a group.
Honestly, we have been trying to be nice to this man, pointing to resources that could actually help him, like Korean Community Counseling. But he has been refusing the help that we can give him.

And as much as I firmly believe he shouldn't have yelled at someone like that, I also kinda feel bad for him. IDK what he went thorugh, but something/someone in his life has broken him. While his backstory doesn't really make sense, if half of it was to be believed then everyone in his life has failed him.

I don't hate him, really. But I really hope he takes courage to seek help

Yeah that's not how life generally goes. If everyone in your life is a problem then you're the actual problem. I can see why his wife left him and his family cut ties with him. He takes no responsibility for himself, he's a perpetual victim that he needs everyone to cater to, and when he isn't being treated like the most special boy he explodes. You don't need to feel bad for him, he sounds like an asshole. These are exactly the kinds of people who become mass shooters and family annihilators.

I imagine the head of F1 did when they saw the amount of zeroes on the offer they got from Apple.
Yeah, I get that much, it's just so anti-customer, I imagine someone in the room had to know they'd be pissing a lot of people off and potentially turning a lot of fans off the $port altogether.

That said, I've since learned that Sky Sports (which I've wanted to get for years, but can't in the US) is what European customers have had to pay for to see F1 for years, and reports are they've been paying like $30/month, so I guess the US just finally got roped into the scam.

Looking back, his whole stroy doesn't really make sense; Especially the part about where he has no place to live....but he also "lives 5 min walk from the church" and has 6 properties. He is looking for a high-paying job, but he is also the co-founder of two start-up companies regarding AI consultation. I visited the two websites, and it looks shady af.

The most disturbing part is, he told us who his father is, and that he is one of the elders at another Korean Church that our church is pretty close with. We reached out to them, and they said no one by that name (the father) has ever served, nor is currently serving as their elders.

And to think we initially prayed for all his "struggles"; We were basically asking God for wrong things, untrruthful things, to be answered.

I am gonna do my best to move past him; Staying bitter and angry about this guy is not gonna make anything better

Step 1 If low-ball offer -> cite the salary band online.

Step 2 if higher offer -> ask about how many interview rounds and with how many people.

Step 3 profit.

What is the complaint here?
An asshole running his mouth and looking down on anyone that enjoys opera or ballet. Timothee is who I am referring to. I don't know who he is, but he sounds like a total dork ( not the fun nor good kind) that thinks super highly of himself without much to buy back to back it up other than ego. I can already tell going by the clip, he's an opinionated butt hole.

I'm not hardcore into either, but all that talent in these fields still take dedication and craft. Years of it. I do have a bigger appreciation for opera, because of my church. We had several ladies and men who are great at it.

That's a broad and pointed assumption based solely on the opining of one of your favorite content creators over an admittedly nothing-burger of an issue. Even Double Toasted themselves admit in that clip that what Chalamet said was probably said flippantly and probably his own, not unique opinion, and they agree they don't think that qualifies his entire character.

Broadly calling him an "asshole running his mouth" within this very specific context and, as you admit, not knowing who he is, isn't warranted. Example, and I'm intentionally directing this at you, I don't personally like brawlers/fighting games. Were someone to ask me, I'd say I think they're boring and vapid; I might even casually say something like "who wastes their time playing repetitive button mashers?" In the same breath, I might think of someone like you, and course correct saying "I just took shots for no reason" (2:30 in the video you shared) because I know my opinion is not necessarily that of everyone, and my statement of my opinion will likely be misconstrued as an attack.

This was a nothing story, "screen actor casually denigrates the stage arts," ok. It's not like he's actively campaigning against the stage; it's his opinion, and he immediately admitted that probably wasn't a popular sentiment; doesn't sound like an "asshole running his mouth." He had an opinion; it came out wrong. Why Double Toasted or anyone took the time to discuss this is a waste of time.

No, but acts like his opinion is a fact. It's my complaint; i'm gonna complain about whatever I want. Youve5 complain about nothing burgers or exaggerating a problem more than once here and on other threads. I know sometimes you were just joking, but you've done it. I don't have these moments often, and they're rare, but they can happen on occasion.

Remember when you are crying about the rapping squeaker guy? I wasn't exactly defending his music, but he never went out of his way to insult people or their tastes. He made his music and just kept on doing it. No drama, nor acting like his opinions are facts. Also, i'm more than not afraid to call out DT for having nothing burger complaints. This isn't the worst one they ever done.

Though, if you want a really big complaint: fuck this pointless 'war' Iran! It's a genocide and ethnic cleansing, while stealing people's food and natural resources, and destroying their places of home. Also screwing up their environment and the environment of the Earth by extension!

Good enough for you?

My question more specifically was what was YOUR complaint. You just posted a video about three guys bantering about a one-off, off-hand statement that was made by a celebrity you admit you know nothing about, a statement said celebrity all but retracted when he admitted it was too broad an application of his opinion. The only "fact" to been gleaned here is that Chalamet isn't a fan of theater or ballet. So? He said it. Maybe phrasing it in a way you didn't like, but simply his opinion. So your complaint is that Chalamet doesn't like theater and ballet? Ok, I'm sorry someone else's opinion about something so trivial is worth complaining about.

Though, if you want a really big complaint: fuck this pointless 'war' Iran! It's a genocide and ethnic cleansing, while stealing people's food and natural resources, and destroying their places of home. Also screwing up their environment and the environment of the Earth by extension!

A bit on the nose, but yeah, a much better and substantive complaint than disagreeing with someone's opinion on a thing. I agree with you; the war in Iran is very much worth complaining about.

And I explained it after you asked. Really not much less to discuss. Yes, I got judgmental and the asshol line I took too far, but i'm still not a fan of his mindset. It's called appreciate the arts. That is all on the matter.

Thank you, and I choose be on a nose for a specific reason.

it's currently 10:30 PM at where I live, I am trying to sleep, and some random asshole is yelling in my neighborhood.

Don't even know where he his, but he's close enough for me to hear some of the stuff he was saying

IDK, something about "...She raised you for 20 years.... Why TF would you do this..... I am busting my balls to help you.... I love you, but you can't just.... I looked the other way whenever you pulled...."

I think he was talking on the phone, as I didn't hear anyone talk back to him. Or he could've been talking to himself like a crazy person, especially around 10:30 pm

That last part was from 5 min ago. Haven't heard a thing from him since. I was about to call the police on the guy, but I am too tired to follow through, and just want to get some sleep

I already apologize for most of that, but I still don't like his mind set.

Based on the very theatrical presence required to play both Paul Atredies and Willy Wonka, I find it very odd that Challemet would hold a low opinion of theatre.
Thank you. Now that I know more about the guy, it definitely comes off as hippocritical, and up his own ass.

I got pulled over earlier this week. The officer claimed, I had my the phone in my right hand while driving. While true, I wasn't looking at it, I was just trying to put it in its charger, and I was at a stoplight anyway. I chose not to fight it because I had too much going on this week. He did me a "favor" by making it less than $200. He charged me $180. The only good thing out of this is that no points go on my record, because my driving record is so great to begin with.

Michigan enacted a new phone law all the way back in 2021. Various counties and districts in michigan barely ever upholded, or only do it to fill a quota. Safety important, but most cops in my area aren't gonna pull you over unless they physically see you have your phone in your hand with the window open. I did pave the bill earlier this week.So I wouldn't have to worry about it later.

That cop must have x ray or something, because he wouldn't have known otherwise. It wouldn't surprise me if they have devices like that now.
