Amy Madigan winning was WELL deserved, and I can't wait to continue hearing everyone rave about how amazing K-Pop Demon Hunters is to the point where I haven't watched it out of spite at this point.

It isn't. I mean, it's kinda heartwarming to see an original (IP) movie become this popular just through word of mouth when movies are on a major downward trend in terms of cultural relevance. But it was really probably just the music, because I don't think anyone's really talking about the characters, the plot, or certain scenes (as they're not terribly memorable or interesting).

The most annoying thing really has been those grifter videos titled 'K-Pop Demon Hunters vs. Disney: Why one works and the other fails'.

There are people who talk about the Huntrix or their actual nice guy manager. The villains people have criticized for being a bit too generic for their taste, or only one of them getting any type of backstory with the Saja boys. Yes actual people and fans, and not just horny butt fucks online who don't give a damn otherwise.

About three of those showed up at the same time not long after watching the film. I ignored them and have a YouTube add on that ignores even more unwanted videos I don't need.

Guess I don't mind these outcomes, tho I'd have preferred Sinners won best picture. Maybe a movie depicting a black man gunning down many white men as heroic was probably a bit too much for the Academy's voting membership of mostly old white men.

The dude actually doing the gunning literally won an Oscar.

I like MBJ but his win was probably the weakest of the above the line wins. Feels like he was nominated as the lead of the most nominated movie in history moreso than anything he actually did in said movie.

I don't think he outperformed any of the other nominees, or even many of those who didn't get in, like Plemons.

See, that I'd disagree with. Playing both Smokestack Twins as physically identical but character-wise completely separate took quite a bit of heavy lifting, and he pulled it off brilliantly. It felt like I was watching a pair of twins interacting with each other, not just Michael B. Jordan playing off of himself.

I think "one twin is responsible, one twin is messy" is like the 101 of one actor playing twins, and there's a long line of better actors ahead of Jordan who weren't recognized for doing way much more than that, including Jeremy Irons, Nicolas Cage and Tom Hardy. Putting different colored hats on MBJ and doing a composite shot isn't much of a feat, and I don't think either twin is individually Academy Award caliber either.

MBJ won for a George Melies trick. Timmy will win 20 years from now when he eats real moose liver on camera or puts on a fat suit.

MBJ and his film/crew won quite mkrevthsn a few awards, and I ain't not complaining. I'll be watching Sinners much more than most of the other films on that list.

I just think Sinners is more of a coral effort (One Battle as well) and not really "about" a single character. I think Best Actor should go to a performance that's the focal point of the story and not the de facto protagonist. Marty Supreme is about Marty (he's the title dammit!); Sinners isn't specifically about Smoke and/or Stack anymore than One Battle is about Leo's Bob. I would've rather seen MBJ win for Fruitvale Station or even Creed. But whatevs, it's the one quibble that I have across the 25 winners.

I agree with that, actually. I'm honestly still a bit baffled that Delroy Lindo of all people got the Best Supporting Actor nom over Miles Caton or Jack O'Connell, but it really is the kind of film the new Best Casting Oscar is a great fit for, because EVERYONE really pulled their weight.

I can agree to an extent, but a win is a win. It's not small feat either.

It would probably help if those at the top would stop milking these. I'm glad I chose not to see any of these, because there's nothing worth watching.
