He doesn't have much knowledge or interest in anything at all.Agree. He does not strike me a someone with deeper knowledge about history or interest in stuff not American. His weird theology displays vast gaps of knowledge as well.
This was possibly not always true. There are some clips of him from around the late 70s and early 80s where he seems to talk very cogently and (I'm guessing) insightfully about the property business. This makes sense: he was still a striving tyro in those days, and so needed to know what was going on. But maybe in the end he got so rich he paid flunkies to do the difficult thinking for him, and that developed into a habit.
All throughout Trump's political career, his ignorance is plain. Like in Trump 1 there's a video where his lead trade negotiator with China is discussing a memorandum of understanding between the two nations, and Trump queries it in a way that makes clear he doesn't understand what one is and what's going on with the negotiations process. When he talked about injecting people with disinfectant to kill covid, it is the rambling of a man who is trying to explain something he heard but didn't understand. All the time, his inability to coherently and accurately explain anything in detail is telling us that he is does not know or understand.
If you add this to his pathological dishonesty, this is why his communications are so frustrating: vague, inaccurate, or just plain wrong. He doesn't know, and he doesn't care that he doesn't know, but he's going to try to make sure we have to pay attention. It is noise, it is chaos, and in its relentlessness it is exhausting.
But given what we might call the Tstorm approach of pretending Trump is fair, decent, reasonable and well-intentioned, or the approach of most of everyone else here who thinks he is varying levels of untrustworthy and malevolent, the latter is simply the right way to be. Power is dangerous. We need to hold power accountable, and we need to be vigilant to abuses of power. Every time someone in power says something, we need to at least consider the worst in what it means for us and the rest of the world, because you can be absolutely sure when we are not, we leave a hole for them to exploit.
