Is that the plan now? Just roll something back every day in hopes it'll eventually right the ship?
I made in theory if you just put the ship back together the way people liked it, it'll work again.

Of course having spent so much time capsized the ship probably has a ton of muck and weed growth on it plus a weird smell that will never go away.

As someone who loved the original:

I mean the lightning looks great, but some of the re-textures doesn't really make sense to me.

The environments in the original game already looked great, so I am not sure what exactly does the re-texture does.

Combat re-work sounds cool, although at 3:40 when Edward is pulling down a rooftop gunner, there is a brief break in animation before the guy falls down. Really didn't bother me in the past, but I was kinda expecting the supposed "new engine" to make the animation look smoother?

They are trying to re-work the eavesdropping/tailing missions, so instead of an instant mission failure when you are discovered, now a fight sequence will break out. IDK, still doesn't seem to fix the inherent problem of how annoyingly close I must follow the target. Also, the sample clip is terrible; It shows what happens when tailing a non-important NPC; what about significant NPCs?

Naval battle is pretty much the same, although now each cannon seems to have a different upgrade path you can experiment with. Just hope it does something new to balance out these upgrades

Three new NPCs will be added to act as your first mate, aside from Annie and Adewale. And I think they all have their own unique set of perks for your ship.

Also, there will be pets but no parrots? WHAT KIND OF PIRATE GAME IS THIS?!!!!

Ok, I'm running the gamut of emotions here. Briefly:
  1. More Assassins Creed?
  2. A remastered Assassins Creed? 🤬
  3. A remaster of Black Flag, the only AC beyond AC2 that I liked, nay, LOVED? 😍
I can't lie, the idea of pirating the high seas again does sound enticing, but the cynic in me can't help but temper any excitement when I think off all the effort Ubisoft put into this that could have gone into a new IP... or a new Splinter Cell (those bastards let Sam Fisher DIE, and of all the bullshit they're capable of, THAT is the most heinous!!)

All this really makes me want to do is pop the OG Black Flag in to see how it holds up. They say it's been "13 years" with all the reverence and awe of someone trying to capture your imagination like it's been "1,000 years:"
You know what else came out "13 years ago?" GTAV, and that motherf*cker has coasted just fine the entire time through three console generations If I had to bet, I say the original BF holds up just fine given that technological advance in the iterative gaming generations has not made a jaw-dropping leaps. It was a gorgeous game in 2013, it was fun in 2013, and I'm sure it remains both in 2026.

TL;DR The game will now feature offline mode

Stop Killing Game movement making a difference, with a ubisoft game no less! Major W right there!

So to that shithead Ubisoft exec who said "get comfortable not owning games", and to Pirate Software who tried to cancel this movement..... Suck a dick!

As one of the comments said, I was a little confused because for the most part, this is exactly what the game looks like in my memory. In some cases I think it does look worse, they removed alot of the sun-bleached, washed out vibe that the original had.

Still though, I would absolutely replay this. The combat changes should be interesting, because I do remember the combat just being a worse version of AC3, which was already a not very interesting combat system.

EDIT: Hmmm. I rewatched the combat portion of the video on my laptop this time, and I have to say, I do not like how it looks. The parry effects are so fucking corny, as well all the other little flourishes they have. They removed all the blood too it seems. Why are they obsessed with making such beautiful environments and pairing them with the most mobile game looking animations?

Guess that "I can't believe it's not Yakuza" game is cancelled (Neatease previously cut funding)
Not surprising since those bastards at NetEase cut the funding. I am just happy Grasshopper and Suda51, and GPT Track50 got away from them, and both are more than financially stable.

Ok, but feels like they should probably finish up their earlier ip revival project tho? Or has that been quietly shelved, save for the Shinobi game, or something?
Yeah. Apparently, streets of rage revolution are still in development. It's funny how they're saying, it's back when it's already still here with the previous game.

I read one of the comments (can't remember youtube or reddit) that not only are these clips from WIP, but apparently there is a setting to turn blood off? I gues Ubisoft decided to play safe and not fuck with YouTube's shitty AI on video monetization.

Now, if there is a such setting, I am a bit worried, because that might indicate the blood will look bad, as in Edward might look like he's covered in tomato juice.

PEGI has upgraded how they classify games:
  • Purchases of in-game content: games with time-limited or quantity-limited offers will be classified with a PEGI 12, games with NFTs or blockchain-related mechanisms will be PEGI 18.
  • Paid random items: the default rating will be PEGI 16 if the game contains paid random items (and in some cases they can be a PEGI 18).
  • Play-by-appointment: mechanisms that reward returning to the game (e.g. daily quests) will get a PEGI 7. If these mechanisms punish players for not returning (e.g. by losing content or reducing progress) they will become PEGI 12.
  • Safe online gameplay: if games contain entirely unrestricted communication features (e.g. no blocking or reporting), they will be PEGI 18.

Rating for Play-By-Appointment seems a bit too low.

I wouldn't want 12 year olds getting addicted to playing games because they feel the need to play every day lest they lose their "streak".
