Not really, no.

Crimea had some amount. Which is one reason Russia was absolutely not willing to let the United States take them by overthrowing the elected government of Ukraine with street violence. The Sevastopol garrison is legacy of the Soviet Union's and now Russia's Black Sea Fleet, hardly comparable to the several hundred military bases the United States has around the world.
Neat shift from "you" (i.e. the UK) to "around the world".

The US has about 11k personnel at most, spread over ~15 bases in the UK. In 2014, Russia had 25-30k soldiers in Ukraine over 16-18 bases.

Your government is directly involved in the war effort against Iran. It has participated in air defense for israel and lets the United States launch from its airfields to bomb Iranian targets. It also continually does reconnaissance flights over Gaza and Lebanon without any particular fanfare (presumably to guide israeli targeting, but your government isn't exactly forthcoming about what they're doing). Are you confused?
No; i'm merely cognisant of the fact that the US demanded we do a lot more, including direct military engagement, and we refused. Odd for a country under complete control of Washington.

The rest is the usual waffle.

It is not my fault that the main problem Europeans have with the European far right is that sometimes they're not xenophobic or militaristic enough. That's on you guys.
"Not xenophobic enough"! 😂

It is the very most xenophobic, brutal quasi-fascists throughout Europe (and Africa) that Russia funds and props up. Violent racism, reactionism, and Christian nationalism is the social order the Russian gov aim to export. This is the problem Europeans have with them.

It is unclear why you think rejecting IMF demands for harsh austerity measures and privatization as a condition for EU membership is Russian puppeteering. Oh, right, the propaganda I gestured at earlier.
Says the one dutifully parroting every Kremlin talking point.

They are militaristic though. Just in favor of military expansion of our enemies for some reason. I think you might also be the first non far right person to have accused the far right of not being xenophobic enough.

And this is funny because they themselves cloak their adoration of Russia as an extension of their xenophobia. A manly man's nation without woke, migrants or minorities. This despite Russia having plenty of minorities but those being habitually abused probably adds to the charm for the far right.

Stomping on the non-Aryan at home and abroad does appeal to a number of people, yes. Many of those people worship a certain Austrian corporal with a funny moustache and do weird salutes at a certain symbol.

And the funny thing is that had the funny mustache corporal not betrayed his Russian allies the Russians would have openly worshipped him too. Present day Russia is the ideological heir of fascist Germany with their betrayal of Russia the only real objection they have against Nazi Germany.

Eh, the UK is involved in supporting Israel's genocide, but only marginally involved in supporting Operation Epstein Fury. I think those aren't quite the same thing, and the first is more business as usual.

Having said that, my country had a PM ousted by the US and UK working together for being too lefty. Some time ago, but still.

Your unwillingness to regard your own xenophobia as xenophobia is not my problem to solve.

You know, everyone seems to forget that Iran was allied with us against the Taliban and Saddam. They were the reason the Taliban were on the ropes. The Axis of Evil speech Bush 2 made destroyed that alliance and gradually the Taliban won

Australia, and I presume England, has a funny relationship with Iran. Many armies worked with the IRG. Even though it's 22 years past, there is still knowledge that we could work together again. That background is how Obama got a deal

I dont like Albo. I also think we would have entered this war behind the US if he wasnt there. John Howard and Tony Abbot suggesting we should enter the war would have had disasterous results.

What an absolute disaster of a peace treaty for the US. I hope Trump is smarter than most of his advisors and stays out.

Condemnation of a state's actions =/= "xenophobia". This is exactly the approach that Netanyahu employs to deflect criticism.

Your unwillingness to confront Russia's longstanding support of Europe's extreme right (and its employment and funding of neo-fascists around the world) is your problem to solve. Because it rather undermines any flimsy pretence that Russia is fighting against extremism for its own self-defence.

I can't believe I'm writing about Tucker Carlson in the "Woke" thread, but here we are, because he's recommending that people not pay their credit card bills.

“I think people should stop paying their credit cards. I know no one else agrees with me, and oh, ‘you have a moral obligation.’ Really, well, you have a moral obligation to not send credit card applications to kids in college,” Carlson said in a video discussion released on X.
I think I'm gonna continue my trend of not listening to Tucker Carlson.

Tucker Carlson has been good at pointing out problems in soceity (most of which can be termed as woke)

Tucker Carlson has been good at blaming the wrong people for the problems of society

Tucker is excellent at giving terrible and civilization ending advice about how to deal with those problems

In this post, he skipped point 2 and blamed the correct people. He half did 3, a juvenile response that isnt really dealing with the problem

Take it as a win. Its the best he can do
