Yeah, Sony can burn to the ground. Even if they walk this back, the fact that they were so ready and confident to pounch on consumer rights like this makes it impossible for me to ever place a shred of trust in them anymore. Not to mention setting a precedent for others. This makes their PS3 "599$" controversy look like an eye floater. I'm looking at the PS5 under my TV like it's a dead skunk now - I don't even wanna fucking touch it anymore!

I've never been a PC gamer, but it looks like I'm gonna have to learn. That Switch 2 is looking a lot better now as well.

Uh, what? It's probably Rockstar's fault. Sony long wanted to end physical games, but GTA VI being digital only gave them the confidence. Only a week apart.

What kind of logic is that? Rockstar gets major shit for announcing no disc at launch, so Sony says wow we better jump on that too‽ They’ve planned for this regardless, like your post on the last page even alluded to.

Pre-purchasing Ace Combat 8 will net you a copy of Ace Combat Zero as a bonus. I don't know if this applies on every platform, but it does on Steam, and it's noted that this is a brand-new PC port of the game rather than simply the PS2 original in an emulator. I also don't know if this will be distributed after the game's release.

Alternatively, pre-order the Ace Combat Zero PC port and you'll get a free copy of AC8 with it as a bonus.

Sony only waited a week and you have any doubt that the biggest game of the generation influenced them? Rockstar had the sales power to postpone Sony's plans. But the idea of players returning and selling GTA VI was too offensive to them. It explains why they have not shown any gameplay. They don't want people writing articles about how Rockstar has learned nothing from other games four months before the release date. The game design is ancient and as linear and restrictive as it ever was.

It doesn't seem like it'll be sold as stand alone (although I assume you'll be able to buy it post release as a DLC or something).

I hope they port more of them (and would gladly take a remaster of 3) but it seems like this is more because its related to the events in 8, for people who never played the PS2 version. I wonder if they have good quality for the live action cutscene or if they'll be in 480p.

I mean, I've never played the Holy Trinity myself, only AC7 like a larper, and I enjoyed it a hell of a lot. So I was probably gonna get AC8 anyway, and I'll take an opportunity to check out Zero as well.

I know, I know, that's how they get ya, but to be totally honest I was kinda got before I even knew about this, so.

I keep hearing about a twenty minute gameplay demo for their next trailer, so we’ll see. I’m not expecting their formula to change much in terms of gameplay mechanics either, but pretty sure ignoring everything else shown that no other game does would also kinda be missing the point.

No judgement here, I also pre ordered it for the AC0, I just wished there was some more direct way to signal to them that they should also port the other one.

AC0 is pretty fun, and has a very unique storytelling device.

A supposed Insomniac leak claims physical sales for studio games are far higher than the frequently cited 90 percent or whatever, which indicates it's always inflated by the endless supply of cheap indie games.

If they excluded digital-only games, the percent of physical sales would be much different.

That Insomniac leak in 2023 also revealed that Sony pays Disney a higher fee on physical sales under the Marvel license. In addition to, of course, the percentage shared with retailers.

"Interestingly, the X-Men licensing terms also leaked, revealing that Disney would receive 9-18% of digital sales, 19-26% of physical sales, 19-26% of DLC sales, and 35-50% of bundle sales."
