This is mostly just whining BS. I don't know about where you are, but here there will be individual citizens letting off fireworks starting from around 9PM till around 3AM. I know a guy who spends several grand on fireworks every year and starts launching at around 10. The 250th fireworks show being at 11PM is about the dumbest complaint about Trump I've ever heard - it's on par with treating Obama's tan suit as a meaningful scandal. There are so many more important issues with Trump that this should barely be a footnote, and an extra-giant fireworks show for the 250th is something that a non-Trump president might have done anyways.

Also, Yellowstone is a supervolcano, if it had a mind of it's own it would probably approve of it's funding going to a toxic smoke cloud.

True...though I think that's also the date of Taylor Swift's wedding, which is likely to get more public interest.

Reminder that Seth McFarlane literally made a joke about Weinstein at the Academy Awards years before he was "outed".

Or earlier still, and a little more direct

Many, many people knew what Weinstein is for a long time, but chose their careers.

So? You think that's a direct result of the cost of renewable energy generation, do you?

So?

So not "hidden taxes", then. You're talking about the levy.

Proceeds of which were reinvested in boiler upgrade schemes, insulation schemes etc, and have lowered household costs in the long term.

Even though we know the EIA data doesn't cover all subsidies.

Bud, the government is a "bias organisation". One under intense lobbying from fossil fuel corporations, and staffed by fossil fuel ideologues.
The battery alone costs 5 figures and we use child labor for that...

Wind/solar wasn't ready, maybe still isn't ready to be the main source of energy.

Huh? Britain pays like the highest price for energy in the developed world and you think it's merely just the utility companies price gouging you and has nothing to do with Britain's shitty ass energy policies?

The organization that hates fossil fuels is also bias... what's your point? You act like government data is wrong because it's bias but some other organization is right even though it's also bias, that makes no sense.

K. What's the relevance of this?

Wind/solar wasn't ready, maybe still isn't ready to be the main source of energy.
And you think this because an ex fossil fuel executive on a YouTube video told you they don't "gel".

Huh? Britain pays like the highest price for energy in the developed world and you think it's merely just the utility companies price gouging you and has nothing to do with Britain's shitty ass energy policies?
I'm sure policy has much to do with it. But the fact of the matter is the prices are ultimately set by private energy companies, and renewable energy generation is cheaper than fossil fuel energy generation.

The organization that hates fossil fuels is also bias... what's your point? You act like government data is wrong because it's bias but some other organization is right even though it's also bias, that makes no sense.
The government data is inexhaustive because it doesn't include all subsidies. We have established this; we know the issue with it.

Whereas you haven't actually identified any issue with the higher figure, you're just shouting "bias" and dismissing it out of hand.

NYC's First Lady Has Conservatives Sweating — And The Hypocrisy Is Staggering

Weeks later, New York City is still in party mode after celebrating the Knicks’ first NBA Championship win in 53 years. And as the dust and glitter settles, there’s been time to ponder some of the dynamics that revealed themselves at the post- parade ceremony at City Hall, where Mayor Zohran Mamdani presented each player with a key to the city.

The energy was high, the speeches were galvanizing, and the fan gear was on point. And if we’ve learned anything from Mamdani’s formal appearances thus far, we know that his partner, Rama Duwaji, would flex her personal style.

Duwaji, a Syrian American artist and illustrator, took to the stage in a look that Vogue aptly claimed “channeled the DIY spirit of downtown New York” — she wore an upcycled one-shoulder Knicks T-shirt dress paired with a black skirt, Nike Air Rift sandals and orange pompom earrings.

And because of that, certain men — and women — felt the need to indulge in a little good old-fashioned slut-shaming. I’ll spare you some of the outright disgusting things that were said about Duwaji’s appearance, though they wouldn’t surprise most women who grew up with social media.

I distinctly remember conservatives expressing concern that Mamdani would “impose Sharia law” on New York City and that women would be expected to cover up from head to toe (as one clever content creator reminds us here). These men, it appeared, were suddenly concerned about protecting women’s rights and championing their right to show skin.

He Lost $32,700 on Trump Branded Crypto. So Naturally, He Blames Democrats.

Hiding your theft is simply no longer necessary; not when even your victims would rather die than acknowledge you’ve stolen from them, collapsing their identity in the process. Case in point: A man featured in a recent Reuters investigation of the Trump family’s cryptocurrency profiteering, who essentially watched his life savings be wiped out by the price collapse of crypto and stock investments hyped by Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump. All told, he found himself down by $32,700 on shares of ALT5 Sigma, a little-known crypto company chosen for “partnership” with Trump’s World Liberty Financial, which subsequently lost more than 90% of its value in the last 10 months. But no matter, the guy knows exactly who is to blame for his financial misfortune: It’s clearly the fault of Democrats that his money now lines Trump’s coffers. He told Reuters that wicked Democrat and “anti-Trump investors” possessed the power to drive the company out of business by taking short positions against Trump-boosted crypto projects.

“When a stock has presidential backing in a way – at least from his sons – you would think it would go up,” said the man, a 45-year-old machinist in Indiana identified only as “Matt.” “Here’s the dark side. I know all of these globalists have TDS and they are just going to short it.”

And there you have it: He’s out more than $32,000 because of “globalists” sporting “Trump Derangement Syndrome,” who possess the singular ability to tank and boost anything in the market. Which, if it was true, would be a good advertisement for never investing in anything with the Trump name on it–if a shadowy cabal can drive the price to zero for anything connected to Trump, then wouldn’t anything connected to Trump represent the least logical investment possible? Maybe we can get a list of cabal-approved stocks instead, and clean up?

You only turn 250 once and still the electorate knowingly elected an unamerican traitor to oversee festivities despite knowing he would make it all about himself. Someone who represent everything America should have overcome in those 250 too. Trump is more the heir of George III, the confederacy and the gilden age than of Lincoln, FDR or even the most cynical take on the founding fathers.

As a result there is nothing to celebrate

The current government completely betrays even the most cynical takes of the founding fathers let alone the patriotic take.

The institutions are all rotting away in plain signs

The wars are lost

The people are more divided than ever since the civil war, as well as erratic and unhappy

In other words its never 250 years too late for New Amsterdam to return to the motherland

the dismal state of your country, the shameful display it puts up and the ungrateful downright treasonous behavior it engages in. The US really is in crisis and there really is no cause for celebration

kinda like seeing an old friend get perpetually drunk and getting dementia

And it’s kinda special a country betraying its founding myth so much

No remotely. You are silly.
So the people are not divided as can be, the wars are not being lost, corruption is contained rather than celebrated and the far right is barred from power? And agencies are not led by the least qualified people imaginable who are sometimes even hostile to the goals of the institutions?

Respectively: no, no, "what?", and no but that's the point of the whole system, it can survive fools because the balance of powers lets them be antagonistic to each other.

If your definition of crisis is "hasn't banned the people you don't like from power", you must live in a state of constant panic.

Your weirdly insistent on treating Trump and the far right as merely people their opponents do not like rather than treat them as Trump and the far right. That's weird and kinda glosses over the entire reason why they are controversial. I would never “panic” if a christian democrat or conservative(factions I do not like) get into power but Trump is neither. He is a far right demagogue taking his cues from Putin and Orban.

And the results are indeed a rot of the system. The justice department working overtime to protect Trump from his crimes or target people because Trump sexually assaulted them is not how they are supposed to function. The army being purged purely by partisan and racial metrics is not how the department of defense(or war) is supposed to work , etcetera.

weird reply. Trump being a far right demagogue is the most common of takes. Trump himself is not even shy about it.

Things like Hegseth’s firing spree or the handling of the Epstein files are also things that just are not very hidden. No “slop” required

Weird argument since Trump being a far right demagogue is one of the common of takes. One that Trump does not even deny much given who he idolizes and emulates.

All the weirder since it requires an extreme amount of propaganda to sell Trump as your typical wholesome rightwinger as they always have been , let alone a competent one.
