That was Final Fight. It was going to be called Street Fighter '89 originally. They changed the name because play testers said it had nothing to do with the original game.

Genuine thought: why am I always at the tail end of UPS/FedEx/USPS delivery windows? I don't think I've ever had something delivered that didn't get delivered at or after their estimation. Like, who's getting their shit before 9am? I'm pretty sure it has to do with proximity to their hub, but don't say the window is between 9am and 5pm if you know damn well I'd be lucky to see it by 5pm at best.
Obviously it's so that the one time you're not home, thinking they won't come by before 5pm anyway, that's when they deliver early.
This is why we question. My buddy sent me his PS5 and said it'd be here by 9pm, and we're going to a graduation party at 5pm, so typically that means it would show up while we're gone, and I'd have to bother our neighbor to get it before thieves do. BUT, because I posed the question, of course it got here about an hour ago, just to make me look like a jackass for complaining. I'm fine with it though; won't complain that for ONCE, they delivered in the early part of their delivery window.
Remember when if they tried to deliver a package and you weren't home, instead of just dumping it on the porch to get rained on and stolen, they'd leave a slip and you'd have to go and pick it up from the depo?
They still do that if something is sent "certified," or any comparable level of service that requires the receiver to sign to confirm delivery. But yeah, COVID taught the system that most of us are okay with (meaning "can't do anything about it") everything from our dog food to the Crown Jewels just being dumped on our doorstep without so much as a knock, even after instances of package theft skyrocketed.
Tangentially, we have a roommate (my gf's long-time friend) who is basically homebound, and she orders stuff online constantly. Nearly every day there's another package (or several) left on our doorstep; it makes me wonder if it makes our home a target for thieves, seeing an Amazon or UPS truck out front damn-near every single day.
I wonder if the people behind spam calls get as annoyed as the rest of us when they get spam calls. Then I wonder how they live with themselves.
There's a whole YouTube industry of people pranking spam callers. I don't like to watch them but the snippets I see are crazy. They absolutely lose it when the Youtubers successfully fuck with them.
Yeah, I've seen some of that, but I was thinking more about while they're grocery shopping, sitting on the couch watching TV, enjoying dinner with their family, etc., and suddenly their phones buzzes with "Spam Likely" or "Potential Spam" as the caller; do they get pissed too? And do they ever rethink their life decisions being a part of this nonsense? Or do they smile in agreement knowing that others are out there doing a good job in their "indusrty?"
My guess is that the countries that the spam calls originate from are not targeted by spam callers.
Nah, there are a ton of spam callers and texters back home. Xprimentyl's scenario is definitely a common occurence.
OT: Speaking of home, a Chinese news outlet used AI to depict Filipinos as poor monkeys who are only good for karaoke. Monkey is a pretty common racial slur, but I can't particularly muster up any offence at being called a monkey. It led me to thinking about how in many cultures, the most taboo slurs have to do with dogs. I don't think there's any animal that I could be likened to that would make me feel insulted. Makes me wonder how people in said cultures feel about dogs.
