A lot of people in that world are still getting infected though, and taking that risk away would allow for a lot more breathing room to rebuild and help people. The reason a lot of people became so desperate and violent is because the risk of infection and consequently the risk of getting killed by infected took away any security they had. There's a scene in TLoU2 where Ellie and Joel come across the infected bodies of a couple that left Jackson, because they wanted to go out and help others less fortunate, to which Ellie solemnly highlights 'If only the were immune, right?'
I’m also glad her and Joel kinda hashed it out a bit there, because that tension needed some resolution if just for her sake. Not sure how much it ultimately helped (or hurt?) her outlook though.

Also I don’t recall from my play through’s but apparently the stuff you find in game says as much about the cure being mostly bs anyways, so I’m wondering if that sorta tied into Joel’s reasoning in an unspoken/unaccounted for way.

It's not too unrealistic. When you see Abby as a young girl she already has quite a solid build, and when wandering through the WLF headquarters you see they have plenty of cattle, so it's not like they don't have the proteine to put on muscle. It could very well be that's she was naturally very bulky from a young age, making her get that big by dedicating herself to training not too ridiculous. It's also not like she's the only one. You meet a couple of hammer wielding NPC ladies from the Seraphites that are just as if not bigger than Abby.
Yeah no. Natural women do not get that big lifting weights regardless of dedication. In order to get like that you need artifical help, steroids or growth hormone.

For example: https://i.pinimg.com/originals/a8/66/2d/a8662da54417dc37c9a6447e90988663.jpg Now this girl is big, she's strong as fuck and muscular, but still isn't on Abby's level.

But this is a steroid enhanced female bodybuilder https://i.pinimg.com/originals/5c/86/35/5c86350f174f241ea91ce90be0389988.jpg and this girl is more of Abby's league.

There is a difference in my mind. And maybe it's just me. If you don't see it, you don't see it. But I following the fitness industry and watch a lot of bodybuilding as a hobby. And I can't help but see that Abby basically is a roided out bodybuilder....

Or more accurately, Abby was always supposed to be a Male-to-Female trans character (which would explain her muscle mass, and her strong build even as a kid where presumably she would be a boy still) Her father was a docter so it's plausible that her father would have helped her transistion. But they never address that and she has been written or rewritten into a natural born woman, but they never addressed her character model to reflect this change.

Pfff no, Abby does not look like that at all. She doesn't even really have abs or very defined muscle tone. Certainly not to that degree. Abby's physique is more akin to that of a construction worker. You can even tell in some shots that she has a bit of a belly. She was always naturally large, so it would make sense that with a proper diet and with as active as she is that she would become a hefty girl. Just like Ellie was always naturally a bit skinny, so she has a more of that Jesus physique.

Realistically, it's the body of a body builder out of season in which they carry more fat on them because the ultra low body fat % for competition is unhealthy and can be fatal if kept on too long.

But that's cool you don't see it, that's fine. I do and that's fine too.

Hey, one of the funniest sights in this game was walking by a gym and seeing a bunch of post-apocalypse hobos pumping iron. I actually want a Fallout game now that has a faction of extreme gym enthusiasts that just go around punching deathclaws.

Um, have you not seen some the women in MMA? Abby instantly reminded me of Cyborg who is, for the lack of a better word, not someone I'd want to be punched in the face by.

Abby is seemingly a commanding officer in the WLF in the game and she's spent years now hunting down Joel. She's a soldier and obviously prepared herself to go out there and hunt the guy down. Maybe it's poorly written or not well explained, but your explanation is pretty off.

Cyborg is a trans woman, which kinda proves Criticals point.

Yeah Cyborg is an outlier, though I'm not convinced she isn't on some sort of juice. Juicing has been an untold secret in MMA for a while, along with other sports like NBA, and NFL. But that's neither here nor there.

Abby might have prepped herself just fine, but without modern technology and nutrition there is 0% chance she gets that big. And as Casual said before, she was big as a kid in which she wouldn't be training to become a monster.

Either way, you guys don't have an issue with it. That's fine.

I do. So it is what it is I guess.

@Specter Von Baren I did not know that about Cyborg. Good to know.

Oh. Well then, my mistake!

Either way, don't have any issues with her physical appearance. Thinking back on it now, and I haven't read the leaks but if what's said is true is that she was trans at some point and then re-written, that might explain a bit more why she connected with Lev on a personal level so much. Interesting.

I'm pretty sure this is the person I was thinking of. But I'm trying to find the information and I think I might have gotten them mixed up with another fighter.
Yea Cyborg isn't trans, I remember what happened now since Ronda Rousey called her "it" at one point and that incited a whole controversy.

So Critical and I are both sort of right, I suppose since Cyborg did take enhancers in the past, but not while she was in UFC.

Yeah, sorry for that. That's my mistake (This is why you don't post at work kids).

So I was curious about the Abby body and was surprised by what I found.

In other words, Abby Balboa could’ve reasonably just buckled down on her heavy deads and squats with a picture of Drago’s Joel’s mug in front of her.
Let's not dwell too much on her appearance, there's much more interesting and less demeaning things to talk about in regards to her character.

In a safe and nutrious world she could have maybe. But not in the zombie apocalypse. My point was never that women COULDNT be she-hulk. But that in the universe in which Abby lives, SHE couldnt. Even with a badass gym, you need nutrition to get there. And also she would be limited to what she could do to her body in zombieland.

Basically if your muscles are fatigued from lifting, you gonna have a hard time running from zombies.

Obviously im over thinking it.

I hate Abby. And i dont want to like her. End of story for me really

Nothing demeaning meant by it despite the tacky joke; mainly just trying to understand the “how” since it was brought up and being debated. If she got that way naturally then that’s truly impressive. I’m looking forward to her side of the story regardless of it explaining her appearance.

Apparently there’s a good supply of cattle if she had access to that for food in the story? I haven’t gotten that far yet.

As an aside, have you seen the Netflix movie The Game Changers? It’s worth a watch in general for the value of the perspective it gives. I wasn’t really aware of how naturally suited a vegan diet is for humans.
