It's simply been a case of confirmation bias occurring within a massive echo chamber of privilege with an orange megalomaniac as its nucleus.
We need to send them our thoughts and prayers lol. So many people in congress and in the media are secretly wishing that Donald dies.
My first reaction is utter cynicism.
That's also my second and third reaction. I haven't gotten to 'I told you so' and 'Karma is a *****' yet.
Why? Because this feels suspiciously like bone spurs.
What a convenient excuse to skip the remaining debates, especially since the Commission on Presidential Debates has threatened to turn his microphone off. And what a great setup for a resignation and Pence pardon immediately before an election he is widely projected to lose.
Who knows? Maybe even the opportunity to declare martial law and cancel the election entirely.
Or “miraculously” bounce back after self-administered hydroxychloroquine treatments and claim that Covid-19 is nothing but an overblown hoax.
Sorry, folks. This smells bad. I hope I’m wrong. And by that, I mean I hope that he’s really sick and recovers quickly and fully.
But unfortunately, he hasn’t disappointed me yet. He consistently meets or exceeds all of my worst fears:
He cheats on his appearance - he has fake hair, fake teeth and a fake tan.
He cheated the draft.
He cheated to get into college.
He cheated his family out of their inheritance.
He cheats on his taxes.
He cheats on his financials disclosures.
He cheats at golf.
He cheated on each of his wives.
He even cheated on one porn star girlfriend with another, while his wife was pregnant.
He cheated his banks and investors out of their money multiple times by declaring bankruptcy.
He cheated at business by laundering money for the Russian mob.
He colluded with Russia to cheat during the last election.
He cheated the voters by withholding his tax disclosures and knowledge of hush money payments.
He cheated on the results of all of his previous physicals while president.
Why would this be any different?

Not having sympathy for someone that downplayed the virus is one thing, openly hoping for death is another.

Debates are optional. He doesn't have to do it if he doesn't want to. The threat of turning off the microphone would have been a good enough excuse for Trump to declare that he doesn't want to take part in other debates and his base wouldn't mind it. But if he's really sick, he can't do jack shit from quarantine merely a month before the election. In reality this situation is very bad for Trump, politically. If it's a hoax, it's a stupid one.

But OT, I can't think of any way for him to spin a COVID-19 infection as a positive thing for his image or campaign given how dismissive he's been about the disease, but I wouldn't put it past him or his similarly sleazy campaign managers to try. A part of me is actually holding out hopes that his administration has been an experiment on Trump's part, that'll he lose this election and come out to his constituents and tell them how dumb and easily led they've been, like what happened to the Penguin in Batman Returns, but on purpose. I would love nothing more than to clog the entire nation's sewer system with feces chunky with freshly eaten "MAGA" hats and Trump/Pence bumper stickers.

You underestimate the ability of Trump to blame things on unrelated targets.
He'd only have a few months, and is unlikely to be elected. A dead Trump is the best case for a Biden win, as Pence doesn't exactly energize voters. Biden will likely win anyways, but if Trump dropped it would be a large, safe win.
