I will say this. I am very surprised he didn't start a war or destabilized a region. I really thought he would have started a skirmish with North Korea and destabilized that area for decades to come. But he somehow became frenemies with Kim Jong-un. All he really did was fire the mother of all bombs and drone strike Qasem Soleimani. Which he more or less got away with it.

He has destabilised a region - pretty much the entire world, in fact, although some bits worse than others. He has not, perhaps, so heavily destabilised it that we can clearly see the negatives now, or so permanently that a competent subsequent administration can't repair it.

His trade war with China negatively effected most countries economies. Everyone is Collateral damage

George W Bush was worst than Trump on the aggregate worldwide death count. Trump was the worst to people in the western hemisphere(Yes Europeans, Trump's tariffs, and mean words don't mean you are the biggest victims), He locked kids up in 3rd world conditions, and killed hundreds of thousands of Americans. but he didn't start any new wars. His first 4 years were dwarfed by Dubya's wars in the middle east, and the subsequent death count. Granted I would prefer Bush to Trump, but that's because Bush could have handle Covid better while he's killing foreigners for the Saudis.

Long overdue protectionism that should have happened. We have grown up worshipping the market, and by extension free trade as gospel, but it should only apply to people who don't take advantage of it to do things their way. Tariffs for you, free trade for me, protected markets for me, opened markets for you. American presidents are such suckers when it comes to free trade, and that extends to many world leaders like Macron, and Merkel.

Also, Qasem Soleimani should not get diplomatic immunity, if he does we are sending the message around the world that anyone who kills Americans indirectly can get away with it forever. No American president in their right minds would want to live in the world. Obama did it for the Iran-Nuclear Deal, and to focus the American military in East Asia, but he's not a good guy.

Where seeing RN what non-Free Trade does to economies due to this virus. It tanks them hard. Protectionism does the same as the virus, tanks your economy. It's why Trump lifted them. He only did them to try to get a deal.

Had 9/11 happened while Trump was in power, I'd imagine he'd have handled it even worse than Bush. Though you could argue that 9/11 and Bush was necessary to prepare the US/world for leaders like Trump.

Protectionism of a sort is still an option - or any sort of trade restriction.

It just needs to be an option considered carefully for its downsides: it hurts everyone, but potentially it has upsides for your own country and allies that makes it worth it.

I worry about war now that Biden is likely to take over.
I was angry to hear that Trump had actually increased troops in Syria rather than, as Americans want, withdraw from the region.
Now I hear this is due to people like Jim Jeffrey bragging that Trump was deliberately mislead.
Not a top news story. I think it should be.

So the buffoon hired some people who he shouldn't have and unquestioningly believed everything they told him? Color me shocked.

Donald was really stupid. The pandemic was the perfect opportunity to win the election. All he had to do was pamper the working class and get resources and testing to the right places. But he had to constantly argue against basic common sense and standard procedure.

As a person living outside the US, his presidency was a fucking nightmare, and the damage he's done globally is beyond comprehension. Fascism (let's call it what it is) is on the rise across the first world. Science denial, conspiracy theories like QAnon and straight up denial of reality are at an all time high, and even reached my own fucking country. Conservative propagandist pundits have groomed an entire new generation of shitbrained neo-nazis-to-be, basically with his endorsement. His Supreme Court appointments will likely have calamitous consequences whose effects will reverberate around the world for decades to come. The level to which his term poisoned public discourse, enabled white supremacists and other shitbags and brainwashed vulnerable people beyond repair is staggering. He essentially validated and drooled over dictators like Duterte and Kim Jong-Un. He eroded institutions of global cooperation like no one I've ever seen. He was given the easiest fucking job to erase all his past failures and become a shining star president who led the country through Covid, but fucked it up worse than anyone could ever have imagined.

The only good thing to come out of his presidency is that he lost a second term, and as such we'll have MAGA chuds coping and crying for years to come. It also reestablished an ancient Internet staple for me: laughing at the stupidity of US citizens. In the mid-2000s I remember it being basically almost a national sport to bash US stupidity every chance anyone got. It then became kind of passé, but with this presidency it's been reaffirmed in 80-foot high platinum letters: The US is absolutely chock-full of not just colossal idiots, but colossal idiots who will happily welcome fascism when it's draped in the Stars and Stripes. The Republican Party is an enemy to all humanity, and their continued existence is a testament to the failure of the US education system.

This is the face of America to me now. A boomer waving a Trump flag along to a song about police being white supremacists. The irony is so palpable it's almost like a painting in motion. You tired of winning yet?

I assume you mean Biden. And I doubt there's anything anyone can say that will convince you Biden isn't a Bond villain, just a weenie.

He's major narcissistic asshole, so it is not surprising. Maybe that'll teach certain imbeciles not to vote for someone just because they're "funny", "not a politician", "a good Christian", and "protecting us from the Muslims or Mexicans". Or deciding not to vote for neither, because both sides are bad, or my vote/nobody votes matter bullshit! You dumb fucks!

Let the dumb ass b#tches humiliate themselves further. I enjoy seeing ultimate despair on the conceited.

I saw this post and immediately saw this on a discord server after.

I agree he is a weenie. Not a Bond villain. Good challenge. What character in any medium was the biggest empty suit political prostitute ever? I'm reading "The Boys" and I think they have a low IQ candidate they're trying to make POTUS at this time. Be a good thread.

EDIT: Oh man... just saw this a few posts above... That's a take on "The Boy's" TV show's "Home Lander" who actually also is a part of the problem.

Yeah, it's a worry to have a PotUS that comes across as creepy and has been alleged of sexual assault by one woman, as opposed to Donald Trump who has been accused of sexual assault by, what, a dozen women and has bragged about it.

I see no reason to believe Biden will start any boots on the ground wars, but you can at least say that Trump has avoided that.

Statements on the Outright Muslim Ban

December 7, 2015: In a statement shortly after the San Bernardino terrorist attack Donald J. Trump is calling for a total and complete shutdown of Muslims entering the United States until our country's representatives can figure out what is going on. According to Pew Research, among others, there is great hatred towards Americans by large segments of the Muslim population. . . . Mr. Trump stated, "Without looking at the various polling data, it is obvious to anybody the hatred is beyond comprehension. Where this hatred comes from and why we will have to determine. Until we are able to determine and understand this problem and the dangerous threat it poses, our country cannot be the victims of horrendous attacks by people that believe only in Jihad, and have no sense of reason or respect for human life. If I win the election for President, we are going to Make America Great Again."
December 8, 2015: On MSNBC:
Geist: Donald, a customs agent would then ask a person their religion?

Trump: That would be probably—they would say, “Are you Muslim?”

Geist: And if they said, “Yes,” they would not be allowed in the country?

Trump: That’s correct.
December 12, 2015: On Fox News:

It’s a temporary ban, not on everyone, but on many. . . . We're not insulting. This is about security. It's not about religion. This is about security. We can't allow people to come into this country that have horrible thoughts in their mind.

March 9, 2016: On CNN:I think Islam hates us. There is something -- there is something there that is a tremendous hatred there. There's a tremendous hatred. We have to get to the bottom of it. There's an unbelievable hatred of us. . . . we can't allow people coming into this country who have this hatred of the United States and of people who are not Muslim.May 11, 2016: On Fox News Radio (at 7:30):We have a serious problem, it's a temporary ban, it hasn't been called for yet, nobody's done it, this is just a suggestion until we find out what's going on.
The Twelve Instances of Trump Equating the Muslim Ban and the Travel Ban
[1] 1. May 11, 2016: On Fox News:
I’m looking at it very strongly with Rudy Giuliani heading it. I’ve spoken to him a little while ago. We’re going to put together a group of five or six people. Very, very highly thought of people, and I think Rudy will head it up, and we’ll look at the Muslim ban or the ‘temporary ban’ as we call it . . . He will head it up and he’s agreed to do so.

Donald Trump is a narcissist. Firstly, he doesn't want to deal with bad news: he wants to be the man to tell America how amazing it is and how wonderfully everything is going. Consequently a crisis like this was always going to pose a problem for him, as he just wouldn't want to deal with it. Secondly, he's not just stupid, lazy and ignorant in governance, due to his narcissism he's surrounded hmself with people according to personal loyalty rather than competence. That means there was no-one even to tell him what he needed to hear. There's a story that early on someone finally got through to the Health Secretary Alex Azar (who seems to me to be a bit outside the Trump circle of trust) just how badly the shit was going to hit the fan, and Azar got nowhere, finding the White House somewhere between disinterested and in denial.

As the inevitable criticisms kicked in, Trump of course went into his usual instinctual, childish backlash and threw all his toys out the pram in a series of chaos-generating tantrums and that was the end of that. The USA is up to 150,000 recorded covid cases a day: this is twice what it was two weeks ago so I reckon in two weeks it'll be about 2000 deaths a day. Grim.

The federal government has clearly long since just given up on coronavirus (not that it ever achieved that much in the first place).
