Trump Demands Changes to Coronavirus Relief Bill, Calling It a ‘Disgrace’ (Published 2020)
The president sought bigger checks for Americans and a bill that dealt more specifically with pandemic relief.
And NYT ghouls carry water.
Over the last couple of days in a rushed frenzy the COVID relief bill the country has needed for months gets stapled to an omnibus spending bill filled with literally every sin you can accuse a member of congress of and thrown quickly for voting to ensure nobody reads it. The bill including provisions like making streaming a felony, bans on pornography, corporate bailouts, tax write-offs, foreign aid to Isreal, and a spit in the face for every American.
After getting whisked through the house and senate, it's reached Trump who says he won't touch it unless the direct stimulus to Americans is increase (yay) some of the pork barreling gets taken out (alright) and corporations get even more (boo).
Of course, the centrist crowd are crying about Trump threatening to veto the bill, because of course they are. Personally a whirlwind 2 day work session making a relief bill (and ONLY a relief bill) sits fine with me, especially if Trump could actually be believed when it sounds like he's throwing the Republicans under the bus. I doubt it'll actually happen that way, but I wouldn't mind it.
