I played the downloadable one from PSN on the PS3 last time(the legacy collection I was playing gave me a download code rather then putting the game on disc). If there was a way to make the analog sticks work I didn't see it. Made the REX fight a PITA(more than it is already).

Maybe the PC version does, since the PC port is now available for digital download.
I think you need to change it in the PS3 menu (when you hold down the HOME button during gameplay). There should be a 'controller' option that allows you to switch movement from the d-pad to the analog stick, or under a different option but it should be there somewhere. I remember changing it myself.

I'll remember that next time I play it on PS3. Thanks for the tip.

I occasionally forget that menu exists and stumbled across it recently again when having to set an internal mem card for Ace Combat 5, which is a PS2 game and kept asking for a detachable Mem card it couldn't find.

Yeah, I just popped in the PS1 disc on the PS3 and you have to change the controller options like Shinji said. I think if you played it on PS2 (and maybe PS1 as well), you could just press in the analog button (remember that?) to turn on the analog controls and that red light would pop on. The game case says it supports analog controls too along with Meryl's codec frequency of course ;)
